broadsword Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Jason Roberts @JasonRoberts30 Jason Roberts Sorry I can't answer all of your Questions now! But the only test will be time! I am only suggesting that we remain optimistic! 1 minute ago via Twitter for BlackBerry® ---------------------------------------------- In fact, he's not answered any questions. I'm sorry, things might turn out for the best, but I refuse to put any faith in Venky's. They've made a dog's dinner of everything so far, and there's been no one consistent line from them other than sticking with Kean. Whilst I'll continue to hope that everything will turn out OK, past performance does not fill me with confidence.

He does know his stuff, enough to have the BBC invite him to present Radio 5 Live's 606 programme. There's no doubt that Venkys have struggled to get to grips with owning a Premier League club but if they have good intentions and can learn from their mistakes then just maybe we can look forward rather than backwards. I know a number of fans have not renewed their season tickets because of what has gone on but hopefully we can get them back soon
broadsword Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Roberts is presumably just regurgitating the spiel he got when he visited Balaji's volcanic lair. Fine words butter no parsnips. We all want to see the club succeed so I hope it comes off.
Baz Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 If Rovers had an £18m overdraft and Phil Jones certain fee is £16.5m, the bank will want the other £1.5m before not moving to seize whatever monies they believe they are entitled to. Hence the need to shift Kalinic and get £1.5m of cash in- I guess the bank will be nervous about accepting just a contract with a Ukrainian club. This might be a reason for the oddities over Goodwillie and Petrovic. I think more and more it is looking like the very best net result we can expect on the transfer front this summer is to end up at net -£8m ie £18m overdraft repaid plus £10m injection. Far more likely that wages and fees will need to be taken into the equation so unless Balaji gets a marquee signing hooked (and frankly that seems very unlikely because he has bungled the previous targets so badly that the only deals available are ones where he gets "taken" big time) then I think we are probably looking at Rovers being around net -£15m or worse on transfer spend by 1 September. As the situation looks at the moment, that will put us bottom of the PL spending list league table this summer. What evidence do you have that the overdraft was used in full? Or any of it?
donnermeat Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I know a number of fans have not renewed their season tickets because of what has gone on but hopefully we can get them back soon If 'fans' haven't renewed specifically because of Venky's then we don't want them back.
Uddersfelt Blue Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 If 'fans' haven't renewed specifically because of Venky's then we don't want them back. Sorry but we need all our fans more than ever before. Of course they have the right to vote with their hard earned cash but if the owners can show that they mean business then why shouldn't we have them back? As fans we need to stick together. There are too many anti-Rovers folk out there who claim we bought the Premier League title (most of them of course supporting clubs that never spent anything)
Mandrake Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 For me....Im getting tired of this recipe: We want this that and the other player We make bids apparently ------ everything is set up, the player is here, invited for dinner, sits down and about to eat his contract signing meal. Waiter comes up - no sorry, your guest from brfc is not here, you will have to go home. Player : " So what is happening to the agreed deal i just spent the last two days negotiating? Waiter : " Dunno, ask the guy in charge of things Player : " Who is that?" Waiter : "Again, I dont know". Player leaves, club moves on to next target - waste more time - talk more b --- hit to fans. Bid on next player..act TOTALLY unprofessional - I would go as far as saying I MYSELF would do a better job at concluding these deals...I mean..CAN YOU MAKE UP YOUR MIND IF YOU WANT A PLAYER OR NOT? THIS IS NOT THE KINDERGARDEN!!

People may not like or agree with Venky's ownership but that's all the more reason to stay on and support the team. People are entitled to protest/vote etc any way they want, but it shouldn't be to the detriment of the team . Cutting off your nose to spite your face. Your point in bold also backs up my statement don't you think?

THIS IS NOT THE KINDERGARDEN!! You don`t really know jack all about it, only what you have heard - Goodwillie may have another committment back up in Scotland that he had to go to for all you know, meaning he couldn`t stay over for a medical tomorrow and then come back down. I find your post amusing, but not very realistic I`m afraid

Mandrake Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Had it only been the Goodwillie transfer - I wouldve agreed with ur critisism
ptholt Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Sky reporting he's having his medical tomorrow. Dundee are very confident that he will be moving to Rovers. I'm about 30 miles from Dundee and the local news is reporting he has come back to Dundee as he was unable to meet keane and have his medical today, he is staying an and training with his Dundee team mates tomorrow, rovers medical and keane meeting Wednesday onwards

Give 'Em the Axe Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Fine words butter no parsnips. We all want to see the club succeed so I hope it comes off. Precisely that. I think Roberts comes across as a decent sort and for whatever reason I have a soft spot for the man. It's more in hope than expectation, but I like to see him do well. Posting that kind of cheer-leading stuff is ever so slightly embarrassing though. He must be aware that many, many fans have not enjoyed the Venky's rollercoaster in the least. It's a little bit insulting, really. Great that they have big plans, but please, sort out the bloomin' basics first, eh?

So.. another 48 hours of this...?!
Ossydave Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 If i travelled that sort of distance to meet a new employer and they messed me about they'd be told to stick the job! Suppose he may have known Kean wasn't going to be here and he was just being shown round Brockhall etc? I'm not fully up to date with the facts though and can't be bothered trawling through all the tripe on here.
donnermeat Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Do you not think that the team is slowly disappearing. Kind of. But there is still a team there to support above all else.

We are a small town club punching far above our weight so get real, enjoy the ride and be grateful. You know what I dislike more then Venky's, its the glass half empty, negative, moaning Rovers fans who post on here finding fault with everything, if your not happy then dont go, give your season ticket up but stop being such drama queens about it, we are better off without you!!
