67splitscreen Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Samba, Petrovic, Nzonzi - Think they are all over 6ft 4? No excuse for conceding from set plays either, throw Robbo in at 6' 4"

roverandout Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 whoever thinks top 10 with this current squad needs their head testing (yes i know some of you will call me negative)
dubdubdub Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 whoever thinks top 10 with this current squad needs their head testing (yes i know some of you will call me negative) If that's a reference to me then I was referring to hawkiiz's team which had a whole of six players if I remember correctly. I do think with a couple of savvy signings and we could finish top ten though.
tony gale's mic Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 What was it Alan Hanson said, "you win nothing with kids!" What a great comparison to draw, seeing as the United side that day contained what would become some of the finest English players of their generation. I'm sure Formica will hit similar heights.
yeti-dog Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 What a great comparison to draw, seeing as the United side that day contained what would become some of the finest English players of their generation. I'm sure Formica will hit similar heights. No-one knows yet how Formica's going to turn out,not even you.. So far he hasn't started a single competitive game for us. Early signs this pre-season are fairly good. Why don't you give the guy a chance?
McClarky Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Look at this eleven: Robinson Salgado, Samba, Nelsen/Givet, Olsson Rochina, Nzonzi, Petrovic, Hoilett Formica, Goodwillie Quite a young team except Nelsen and Salgado, alot of pace and technique This team has relegation written all over it in huge letters. Slow defence with no real cover, untried midfield with people playing out of position and lightweight forwards. We really need some proper quality before we get started.
roverandout Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 dubdubdub i think we could have a decent season too if we can bring in one proven quality striker until then i wont change my mind.
Boltinho Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Spurs have bid for Samba. according to northern_rover @twitter aka Kamy.
Mozzer Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 with keith andrews leaving we need to buy a player to replace him . yes he is terrible but we cant go into the season with two injury prone players - dunn and grella, the new guy who will take time adapating , and nzonzi well hes probably the only central midfield who will be able to last the course
Josh Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 with keith andrews leaving we need to buy a player to replace him . yes he is terrible but we cant go into the season with two injury prone players - dunn and grella, the new guy who will take time adapating , and nzonzi well hes probably the only central midfield who will be able to last the course I think Jason Lowe could fill Andrews place if he gets the chance
Ripleys love child Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Could it be j jones is on his way back? With the arrival of petrovic and with nzonzi in the middle he would be surplus to requirements, Andrews that is
Veevs Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Our midfielders and forwards would be like lambs to the slaughter. A bit of experience and know how needed. Got to say I am no fan of yours Merc but to get a -6 rating shows how this forum is going.. you said the obvious in that having every outfield player beyond defence being a youngster would lead to us being slaughtered... so why you got such a slating is beyond me unless most of these new fellas are Venky employees or just simply fools. As for Nicko similar thing, don't blame him leaving he might not always be right (but more than not he is spot on) but he at least has the knowledge/integrity to check his sources unlike most of those clueless fools who slate him. Speaking of clueless fools... can someone quote me which EPL team has the least number of signings this summer? Or how about which team has the a 15m plus net in terms of signings? What is the only club in the league not to of officially signed a player? Or maybe which club in the EPL has had the most negative newspaper reports? What club took the longest to get sponsorship? Any club in the league lacking a chairman for more than 4 months? What epl club has had more than half the staff walk out or be fired?... and I could keep going forever.. *sigh* I am realistic enough to understand Rovers are not a so called big club, but it took years to get us established on very limited income, and hearing the tripe spouted by so many just fills me with dispair as we simply do not have the squad to compete nor owners willing to take obvious advise due to a lack of knowledge on their part.
Blueboy Downunder Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 on all things blackburn rovers including hiring, firing, transfers etc etc...we are waiting for the folks at venkys to have the balls to stand infront of thousands of rovers fans at a fan forum, and take the flak that would undoubtably go their way. however, that it aint gonna happen. BTW....hello Vic
he6rt6gr6m Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Can't be bothered bringing the Jermaine Jones thread back to life but apparently his wife wants to stay in England. http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnews/tv_and_showbiz/s/1454356_former-miss-germany-prefers-to-stay-in-cheshire Oh and I would! You'd never guess that she's pushed two kids out, would you?
he6rt6gr6m Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Myles , petro , willie He mentions Myles in that article, along with other youth players. He's definitely not the third. Or first, as the order would be. can anyone tell me why Nicko has suddenly stopped posting? Probably licking his wounds from a couple of 11pm stories that were WAY wide of the mark. Marica was one of them.
Steve Moss Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 How dare you? (Just joking) I am a Lancashire lad born and bred, and the only Scottish relatives I have are my grandchildren. I have lived Scotland nearly 40 years having been moved up on promotion in my job. But although I love the place and the country I would not even consider moving back down South, I am 100% happy that Rovers have signed this player. And another thing as well As far as I am concerned both Rangers and Celtic are the ABSOLUTE pits. The very worst examples of football clubs anywhere. Now add to that I have been an ardent supporter of Blackburn Rovers since 1946, and am looking forward to my 65th anniversary as fan in November this year. I hope that sorts a few things out for you about where my loyalties really lie. can anyone tell me why Nicko has suddenly stopped posting? His panties got in a twist.
Taggart Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 can anyone tell me why Nicko has suddenly stopped posting? Hi bud - I did ask him via twitter and he was pretty honest and said, he planned to have a couple of days away from posting, and then found he quite liked it (he has been posting and getting abuse for the last 5 years) and has decided to keep up the twitter side of things Fair play to him in my opinion
Stuart Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Hi bud - I did ask him via twitter and he was pretty honest and said, he planned to have a couple of days away from posting, and then found he quite liked it (he has been posting and getting abuse for the last 5 years) and has decided to keep up the twitter side of things Fair play to him in my opinion That's good. He'll get no abuse on Twitter. I can understand if he thinks Twitter makes gives him more scope though. It'll also be interesting to see who Nicko 'follows'.
LeChuck Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 He'd been posting on here for 5 years? :S That's what I thought! I feel like I've just wasted 5 years of my life if so.
broadsword Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Keith Andrews has apparently signed for Ipswich according to the Sun? I hadn't seen that before?
joey_big_nose Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Keith Andrews has apparently signed for Ipswich according to the Sun? I hadn't seen that before? Loaned or signed? Good servant to the club, shame about the lack of top class ability. We are short on numbers at the moment . Nzonzi is our only established central midfield player (and he is not that established....) – Grella permanently injured. Pedersen is very hit and miss in that deeper role (and more generally tbh). Dunn cannot play that deep. And while Lowe and (hopefully) Petrovic have promise they are untested. So you have to say that the strategy should now be to get two central midfielders on top of Petrovic – at least one an established top league performer – and maybe look to move on the square peg Pedersen. I’m sure we are already doing our utmost to flog Grella. Reo Coker would have been a great signing in these circumstances
broadsword Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Season-long loan. Seems a strange move while we are short of numbers. http://www.twtd.co.uk/news.php?storyid=18874
