I do wonder if Barry White has a plan B for the marquee signing if Raul decides to go to Spain.

And I'd be quite keen on Pav'enko as well, I have always felt he has talent that has not shone at Spurs.

A cash plus player (Pav) for Samba would soften the blow if we are to lose him and not exactly an unrealistic deal...hes a very decent striker!

Agreed. I'd be more confident knowing that a leader of the quality of Raul was in the side going into the new season-could give the players the confidence for the new season they need to drive forward. (certainly not all the answers but team spirit can lift teams). Having said that i'm currently on holiday in Spain and am going to take some convincing to return to the u.k i can see its going to take some negotiations/finance to get Raul to rainy u.k.

It's not rainy at the moment.

It's sweltering

Even if Gibson is a better player than Andrews which there is no real answer for as it is a matter of opinion, Gibson wouldn't fit anywhere into our system we play with two DM and he cant play there and we already have rochina, formica, dunn, Hoilet and maybe goodwillie to play behind the main striker.

Probably why we showed and interest in him - heard his ridicolous wage demands and then decided to pursue Petrovic.

I do think Gibson talk is very premature at this point, The interest was a few weeks back, and we left it at that, The Loan market is one we will explore but i expect this to be nearer the end of the window IF we don't secure our full time targets.

Andrews leaving ect has no baring on this, We have many players at the club that will struggle to get a game and are eating valuable wages.

Andrews is not considered by most fans as a player good enough for our best 11 so a loan move/permanent transfer suits us.

Other player like E D Diouf ect will also be part of the culling process, Yes it seems many leaving not many coming, but last thing we need is a squad bulging with players not good enough for the first team.

It makes sense to get rid of these and free up space, I agree we have left things very very late this summer to get new blood on board, and by not having these in now, may see us struggle a little initially as new players need to time to gel.

Too many wholesale changes could see us playing catch up which is a big worry.

However all our signings bar freebies will already have a good pre-season under their belts at their current clubs, and the way our players have been slogged maybe its best we didnt have them in earlier,

Rovers remain confident we will have players in place of the right quality, and they are unified in this opinion,

We have to wait and see and come the end of September we shall know a little at how our season may pan out

I'd put money on Santa Cruz arriving on loan near the end of the window. City will have to subsidise his departure pretty heavily if they want him to move on.

I wouldn't bet against you LeChuck. Hopefully not though.

It's fair enough rovers taking a gamble on DG I suppose, but I do have reservations about him, certainly for this season anyway. To me, the really interesting striker will be the next one. Because if he doesn't arrive, or he's not up to the job, we're going to really struggle.

I agree , incidently when do clubs have to declare their "25" players for the season ( i know they can have more than that which makes a mockery of the rule)

Also, what's happening with Benjani?

if he's signing, then why isn't he getting games under his belt, because he'll be no use to us if he isn't fitter than last season? and if he isn't signing, well that leaves us with Roberts and Goodwillie.

is it just me who isnt too keen on raul

Not sure, but I have to ask why you wouldn't be keen on a fellow that's kept himself pretty fit, is still scoring goals for fun, would be commercial (shirt sales, etc) and good for PR, and would be relatively cheap. I reckon we'd get a couple of years out of him, and he'd be good for the changing room.

and hoilett, rochina and formica also as alternatives.

I believe that you have to submit one list before your first match as every player in your squad must be registered, but a final list does not have to be submitted until September 1st.
