Are people totally ignoring these quotes? Raul would want a crack in the Prem at a club who aren't going to be scrapping for two chances per match. Maybe a team like Spurs or Newcastle. Might be nice to believe that it's not Raul who's rejected us but I don't see why Schalke would lie on his behalf. I don't really doubt that report and it has more credibility than Balague's hear say because it actually contains quotes.

Not sure thats the case philipl, it does seem like we actually made a bid for Raul this time around, realistic or not.

I would definately believe what Hughsey has said there and what Zac has been saying for the past few weeks and of course Makey, all those three are spot on as this fits with the information I posted that Salgado had tested the water not just this year, but last year also and Raul wanted to come!!

Assuming his contract runs until the end of June - and he's on the £100k a week - that is about £4.5m in wages Schalke will be paying between now and his contract expiring. If they can get a £3m fee for a player that has fallen out with the manager, wants to leave, and will be able to move for nothing at the end of the season - then surely it's a good deal for them, essentially saving £7.5m.

I'm thinking Schalke have tried to start a bidding war to squeeze more out of us - but it sounds like they are prepared to let him go to me. Why else announce we've made an official bid.

I'm 50/50 on this happening - whereas a week ago I was probably 99/1 against it happening.

they are only going off what Schalke's general manager Horst Heldt said in a interview but it was interesting what Guillem Balague tweeted last night about Raul being interested .. i am sure that Balague would be much more closer to Raul's people than Heldt.

it feels as though Rovers have been given the come on by Schalke only to get a German bitch slap when we try something serious Good-willie teasers
