sounds good but how far down the line are we and how realistic a prospect is it of gettig him here?

Club not approached as far as I know, the usual tapping up scenario, find out if the player would come, what sort of package is he after, then make your move.

lets hope salgado can convince him to move to rovers then, i think he will finish his career off back in spain though!

Why? what's left in Spain that he has not already achieved.

I suppose any chance we have partially depends on how close he is to Salgado (who'll probably never be dropped if Raul came). It would be something to see an all-time Real Madrid legend play for Blackburn. I can't think of a better veteran star player to go for really. Ruud V-N is not the player he was, Drogba is totally unrealistic, Klose only plays for Germany, and Luca Toni has just moved ;).

Just the kind of player we need to boost season ticket sales and make people take notice.Maybe his best days are behind him but still a quality player who would stand out like a sore thumb in our present side.

Really can't see it though. Surely Spurs or someone would be in like Flynn. That's not even considering the Malaga link.

Raul maturing in 2012 might leave Schalke 04 by untied. Former Madrid fans earn 7 million per season and the German club does not seem willing to renew the agreement under the same conditions in place

If I understand correct he might leave Schalke 04 on a free after the season in 2012 because they are not willing to renew his £70k p/w contract. Which also might mean they will try to sell him this summer instead of risking losing him on a free.

Which seems accurate since he signed 28 of June 2010 according to Wiki.

It might be possible.

We were ready to spend those amount on wages for Jermaine Jones and Roque Santa Cruz last year. Salgado might talk him into joining the club. He might want to play in EPL before ending his career.

He would be an amazing signing. I wasnt aware that he had 19 goals last season and that was for a struggling Schalke side!

The more I think about it, the more the signing of Raul could turn things around for Venkys completely.

But it has to be their money and not borrowed against the club...
