broadsword Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 There was no way we would ever get £12m for him, but after the way he's been treated I think we'll have to take anything just to get him off the books. He'll be a very disruptive influence in the camp now, good job he didn't go to Hong Kong. He's been treated in a very shabby way. It's not surprising at all, and I don't think he'll be the last. We now need to bring 3 strikers in I would think. I doubt we'll bring one in.

super_arran Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 I think Kalinic would have came good and i think he has been treated badly by kean. Really?? Because I know he excelled under big Sam..... Truth is; he's not good enough. Ran about a bit, fell over more. It's like the whole Benni McCarthy situation. Couldn't get fit when we needed him yet the fans still chanted his name like he'd come off the bench a savior and bang 12 goals in. Kalanic, couldn't hit the side of a bus with a handfull of peas. Yet @#/? corner in the BBE sings his name like he's Alan Shearer with hair. I'd have rather of kept Di Santo. And that's saying something

Mattyblue Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 You'd prefer Di Santo over Kalinic on what possible grounds, Arran?
super_arran Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 You'd prefer Di Santo over Kalinic on what possible grounds, Arran? Di santo seemed to be able to create more friction on it... But on a serious note. Di santo appeared to be technically better than Kalinic. Problem was though; we were stuck with Kalinic. Like I said though, it's saying something because Di Santo wasn't that great either. It's like asking someone to choose which chuckle brother you'd rather spend a week in a lift with.

slough_rover Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 No chance, there's plenty who've been worse. At that price tag not many.
Mattyblue Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 At that price tag not many. Davies, grabbi, Blake, Ward.
super_arran Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 Really don't understand why my posts have been red numbered. If you disagree; at least put out a counter argument and tell me where I've gone wrong in my post... I'd like my eyes to be opened as to why people believe Kalinic shouldn't be sold. Because judging from the last two seasons of watching the useless turd he should be sent packing

Because judging from the last two seasons of watching the useless turd he should be sent packing I'll give you a decent enough reason, because I doubt the owners will replace him with anybody. I would rather have Kalinic than nobody. I did'nt vote you down btw dont see the point.
slough_rover Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 Davies, grabbi, Blake, Ward. Hardly a list longer than your arm. He is easily in the top 5 biggest Rovers flops in the transfer Market, especially when you consider his price tag.

I did'nt vote you down btw dont see the point. I get that. But this time it's not about the owners, he's the one not getting on the plane. If he wants to leave, then let him. Didn't his agent come out and say he won't be playing for Rovers again? The lads got ideas above his stations. I seriously doubt the owners will leave us with Roberts and half a Benjani. BUT if they do do that; I'll swallow my pride move to block one and chant Niko Kalinic til I'm blue in the face.

My only concern with Kalanic - I can't help but feel that in the right team he could score a lot of goals - mainly due to his movement off the ball and eye for a goal. However - he has no exceptional pace, power, heading ability, ability to hold up the ball etc etc - but just that nagging feeling that he will go on to be a great goal scorer elsewhere. I think the main problem for Rovers - we can't afford his type of player. IF we get back what we paid and IF that money is reinvested - I don't think we will be any worse off.

hesfromburn Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 kalinic are best striker?? he is awful. miseryman moaned about formica costing 3million n not bein ready. kalinic cost double and been the same use given more chances. worst transfer ever. thanks a lot slug. and all you anti venyks believe every rumour what date did we buy kalinic.?
broadsword Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 At that price tag not many. Hardly a like-for-like comparison, that. I don't think he's great, don't get me wrong on that one. But he's been treated pretty shabbily, he clearly has no future here. And if I was in his shoes, I probably wouldn't have gone either.

I dont think his work ethic and mindset has been right since he joined Rovers because neither Kean or Sam rated him as a starter when we were desperate for goals. He had a bad start for us and never really delivered, he had a cracking chance to score in his first game at Sunderland he fluffed it and after that he hit the post constantly, His best game was at West brom when he looked worth the 6 million we paid for him but then he got himself sent off, I agree that his time is up but he MUST be replaced.
Inta Beaver Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 Samba on twitter I don't really know what the situation with niko disappointed he's not with us in china
Neal Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 If Niko deal isn't done by end of play, I understand Rovers will demand him in Hong Kong. Was initially 24hr deadline but Kean then gave 48 This was just posted by cryer on twitter.
