Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted September 11, 2011 Moderation Lead Posted September 11, 2011 It's another comment aimed at the poster and contains nothing about football. Sort yourself out. Look at lots of other players who started poorly, then turned out to be excellent acquistions. The lad's had 3 games, after 10, then maybe you can arrive at the conclusions you've been drawing so far.

deryck guyler's spoon Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 It's another comment aimed at the poster and contains nothing about football. Sort yourself out. Last reply to you on this. You have a hissy fit when ever any body pulls you up and behave as if you are some sage like luminary whose pronouncements on the game are spun gold. You seem to think you cant be questioned. You are the one who needs to sort yourself out, grow some cojones and act your age
brian_gallagher85 Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 My main reason for slating him isn't that he can't tackle, it's that he doesn't even bloody try and always seems to be miles off the pace.
imy9 Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 I said after the Sheff Wed game that he looked poor - along with Goodwillie. Got plenty of -s's for that, but these guys are not premier League players. So to clarify Goodwillie and Petrovic are not premier league players... after THREE games? Coming from different leagues they will need time to adapt and settle in. Evra and Vidic would have been on first plane home if you judge the quality of players after a few games.

Backroom Tom Posted September 11, 2011 Backroom Posted September 11, 2011 One thing though, he did no less than Dunn or Nzonzi did and actually won a tackle which was a rarity today.

It's quite possible to judge players early, imy. Done it many times. Don't worry, Den. If he turns out to be a star, you can just backtrack, like you did with Hoilett. Told you from the start that Junior was quality. Also told you that Niko hadn't.

Also told you that Niko hadn't. With all due respect Den, you have seen him what THREE times? Glen who has followed him for years says that the boy is quality and he expected him to be playing for United as opposed to Rovers, you never know just maybe he will make it as a premier league player. IMO three games is a ridiculous amount of time to write off players, I can name dozens of players who have looked poor in the first few months but have blossomed into top class players.

EWOODACE1 Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 i dont know whether he has the ability as people have stated its only been a few games. but one thing that does stand out to me is the lack of effort he puts in. when he signed i watch serbia v russia and he was very lazy in that as well
USABlue Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 He did not look very good to me today. Looked to me like he lacked a lot of effort, couple of time I expected him to challenge for the ball and he just watched. Don't want to condemn the lad but the jury is out on this one.
47er Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Guess that's another post that simply has a go at the poster again. Do you have any footballing opinions? You certainly have personal ones. Den-----if you're being attacked by both Topman and DGS, you've certainly got something right! As for Petrovic, I also questioned his ability and attitude and lack of pace after the first game. Jones G he is not. Its alright saying "he's only played a handful of games, needs time to bed in etc....." We do not have that time and we were overrun in Midfield---again. He may turn out to be a gem by Christmas, in which case we'll get a decent fee for him when we exit the Premier League.
Paul Mellelieu Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 I think there's a chance he'll be a player at EP, but it's difficult not to conclude that he'll struggle to make the impact he needs to if our midfield is to protect the back four properly.
promoted2001 Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Was awful against everton too. Not impressed so far...
Roost Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 He was awful yesterday, just a big lump without speed or agility. Fulham players were strolling past him with the ball at times, and he made no effort to put a tackle in. Simply not good enough.
philipl Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 I cannot contribute because I withdrew my comment saying he is a dud! Seriously, he needs the right management and could be a player but in Kean's "set-up" he hasn't a hope.

Seriously, he needs the right management and could be a player but in Kean's "set-up" he hasn't a hope. I'm not going to write him off because he does look like he has a bit of potential and like you say he needs the right manager to.guide him, likewise could you imagine the potential Rochina and Formica may have given the right guidebce.

PETROVIC is miles better than all 3 of them. give him time! FFS!

I couldn't be bothered to go back and read DGS and Topman's replies, but I'll make it easier for them. From what I've seen so far, Goodwillie and Petrovic aren't good enough. They can either accept that, or my original post, I'm not bothered either way, but at least it's a footballing opinion. One thing for sure, DGS and Topman aren't gamblers, because if they were their record for backing losers would see them skint.

Its alright saying "he's only played a handful of games, needs time to bed in etc....." Jones J, you mean? Helps if you get the player's names right. The same J Jones who was being slated by fans after his first few games, people saying he was a headless chicken and couldn't make any impression on the game apart from giving away cheap free-kicks? Some of us reserved judgement until he was given a run in the side. Lo and behold, he turned out to be a decent player. Doesn't mean the same will apply to Petrovic, but I'd rather wait and see before writing the guy off. Otherwise you can end up looking rather stupid, as numerous folk on here have found out. I did have to chuckle when you accused DGS of the same thing.

Seriously, he needs the right management and could be a player but in Kean's "set-up" he hasn't a hope. A much better post and worthy of your first ever +1 from me. I personally didn't think he was too bad yesterday - he put in a couple of tackles and won the ball a few times. Gave it away a lot too. He reminds me of N'Zonzi when he first camre along - however back then we had a manager who could bring a player on. Now we have one who can only help advance a player with extremely high ability - anyone with less talent than Hoilett is going to struggle
Ricky Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 I think he could become a useful player given the right coaching. He's not going to get that under kean. The sad thing is that this could be one of the most exciting squads we've had for a long time but the players are being held back through poor preparation, tactics, and general management. We have a very good young squad with the best CB pairing outside of the top 4. We have exciting attacking players and are only really lacking at fb and up front.
Rover & Out Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 The guy has played around 110 minutes of Premiership football and some people are writing him off already?! He's off the pace? Of course he is, he's never played in such a quick league before. In any case, each of his appearances has been halfway through a match in a position where it's never going to be easy to just come on and start dictating the play.
den Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 The guy has played around 110 minutes of Premiership football and some people are writing him off already?! People are giving opinions based on what they have seen. That seems to be a big problem around here sometimes. Just in case people think it's just the moaners on here: Vital football. Petrovic 4 Looking poor. Really needs to start to up his game if he is to live up to expectations David Goodwillie 5 Looked out of his depth, not the start we wanted to see. Would you disagree with any of that?
