It's been confirmed, yes, but then again, nothing more is done the last 24 hours. So lets hope we don't let him miss out....

Would people be happy if this chap is our only 'big' signing this summer?

Nope. He's not a 'big' signing at £2.5million and other areas desperately need quality added too with our departures (Jones brothers and Kalinic).

Nevertheless, having seen the youtube video of him, I'd love to have him here and believe that he is the sort of player we should be looking at - young, talented and cheap.

Nope. Not sure he qualifies as 'big' either.

Bare minimum is this guy plus two strikers (one of whom is a proven goal scorer) and no one else leaving. We would be threadbare but just about acceptable.

For a decent transfer window we really want to see this guy, another central midfielder, a right winger, two strikers and a defender. Then we would be sitting reasonably pretty - providing they were good siginings of course.

Of course not. We need to sign 5-9 new players before the window ends. We need more than just this guy.

I'd be happy if he is signing at all, I just want us to sign anyone at this point, the sooner the better. Then I will concentrate on complaining about bigger and better

Roma renew their interest in Petrovic?

The Rome looking for a versatile midfielder, whose identikit, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, could match that of the 22 year-old Partizan Radosav Petrovic, already approached the Giallorossi in recent weeks by Alfredo Pedulla. Obviously, being a non-EU player, Roma must provide for the sale of an item with the same status, and the main suspects are Barusso, who could ask for a buyout, Simplicio, who likes to Al Ahli, if not the same Vucinic if you miss the final negotiations with Juventus

Partizan Belgrade? Echoes of Formica but at least Formica arrived eventually.

Critical question is can this guy pick a pass? That is the crucial quality we need if we manage to hang on to Hoilett and Olsson.

Why are there echoes of Formica Phil??

Completely different matter here surely. This lad plays for partizan and we're trying to buy him. The Formica deal was very different even with the rumours of third party ownership and links to partizan.

Completely different here. Although I know nothing about him so can't answer your question.

Surely the bloke who can pick a pass would be Formica or Dunn, this guy is a defensive midfield player who scores goals- can assume that he is technically good based on the teams looking to purchase him over the last 12 months.

I've watched him play for Serbia and he looks a good player. They're a very fluid but well-organised side and he plays a big part in that. There's no point comparing him to Tugay as he isn't the same time of player. Tugay was a classy holding midfielder, Petrovic is more of a conventional defensive midfielder, but he does certainly have ability on the ball.

One of my better friends is Serbian and is a Partizan supporter and he certainly doesn't want to lose him and thinks that he has the potential to be very good (and rates him far more highly than he did Juca).

was going to say the same thing imy, his job will be to break up play and then give the ball. JJ did a similar job, but made those bursting runs forward which Petrovic is known for doing

This guy is a very good player, he is strong in the tackle, and he deffinately can pick out a pass. Serbia is normally a very good team, and at 22 i think he will be a very good signing if he signs. ;)

For a defensive midfielder he gets forward a lot. Was one of the top scorers in their league last season.

22 years old, this is more like the kind of player we should be after.

Well he looks alright on there. Now we just need a video of all his mistakes - just to get a balanced to the debate. I'm sure imy would appreciate that.

I would appreciate it you are right- Welcome to the side of balanced arguments, may feel funny for a while, let your brain get adjusted to it lol.

He looks pretty good on the video but it did worry me how many times he seemed to try and take on one too many players only to nearly lose possession. Would he get away with that in the Premier League where the league is faster and better?

He wont be allowed to turn the way he does in the prem though, can pick a pass though!!

Hard to judge him until he settles in, certainly has the attributes to be successful but let's see.
