PAFELL Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Petrovic medical. Completed tomorrow. I'll not count chickens until the ink is dried on the contract. Did not Pavone have medical?

Brownie Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Petrovic started one game in the world cup 2010 for Serbia and he was the best player that game I remember. A very good central midfelder. He scores alot with his head and can shoot despite being 1,93 cm! A tall guy! I think there were top clubs interested in Italy but he seems to like the Premier League. Not being funny or anything, but why does being tall make it difficult to shoot ?
JAL Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Not being funny or anything, but why does being tall make it difficult to shoot ? Because the ball is further away from your head By the way did you used to be a Liverpool fan in your younger days ?
ada2020 Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 LET reports he's J.Jones replacement, I know he's been an unlikely signing for a while but I'm very disappointed we didn't manage to bring him back to Ewood. This lad has some big boots to fill.
OJRovers Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Ideally we could buy Petro AND loan J.Jones back, would mean the end of KA/Grella.
Toodling Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Ideally we could buy Petro AND loan J.Jones back, would mean the end of KA/Grella. The problem with jones is always going to be his wages though.
RoyRover Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Like most Eastern Europeans, technically he looks very good and comfortable on the ball. Hopefully he can help us retain possession in midfield. All too often we will just lump the ball forward when we are under a bit of pressure. At 22, he's young enough to be a long term player, who has time to adapt the Premier League. He's also been capped a number of times by Serbia which is impressive when you think of the talented midfielders that they have to pick from.
Amo Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Sounds like a steal at that money. Hopefully the fans will afford him some patience to adapt to the PL. I remember some writing off JJ after a handful of games.
brfcjon Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Ideally we could buy Petro AND loan J.Jones back, would mean the end of KA/Grella. Oh yes please. Big fan of JJ and I think having Nzonzi, JJ and this kid in rotation would be great. Still think the regime is cr'p and this one signing doesnt make up for all the horrible choices they have made so far. They missed out on some great talent because they have their heads up their .....
67splitscreen Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Overloading wages even more by loaning JJ is crazy, must be other options in the loan market (Prem or world wide) to beef up the squad as we near the end of the window. After we offload a few of course, if only.

67splitscreen Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 You do know what date it is don't you? No! but best part of five weeks before the end of the window leaves plenty of time for stocking fillers.
scunnyrover Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Hope this guy signs up today and it doesn't hit any snags, but we all know that in 2 years time he'll go to a bigger club in England lol

For a young player with no Premier League experience signed on the (relative) cheap, that's a good outcome, providing we stay away from relegations.

Yer definetly, buying him for 2.5 million, if he becomes a success he could be worth 10 if not more. Wish some players would show loyalty to a club tho sometimes

Guest Rovers4Good Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 JJ was good but he wasn't great. Why can't we dip into the English market and invest in some home grown talent? That is where the future is.
Dorsetblue Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Why can't we dip into the English market and invest in some home grown talent? That is where the future is. It probably is but look at some of the prices being quoted for players in the English market.I personally think Liverpool have paid way over the odds for Henderson and Downing.Would we want to pay that sort of money realistically?

Carroll as well , way way over the odds ..........
Black Burn Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 has he had a medical yet? Yes, he's completed his medical. Only thing left is his work permit, which is probably just a formality. His signing should be announced over the next 48 hours.

Lancs Rover Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Let's hope he doesn't view this before he signs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRkZ21RJQ0g&feature=youtu.be
