roversfanben Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Tombo (from Vital Blackburn, a site you should join for more up to date news) said he was asking for more than £30k (which we offered) How can he ask for such high wages? What has he achieved to be worth that?
adsfortheblues Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 I think it's probably more to do with venkys AGAIN not willing to pay certain wages, when are they going to learn the world of football. We need players and we need them now. Well if he was asking for 30k then I take my words back, fair play he isn't worth that

We need players and we need them now. What? So you blame Venky's for not being willing to pay somebody, who in footballing terms is pretty much a nobody, more than £30k? Get real, man.
Scott18 Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Does anybody know if EliteSportsM on twitter is Goodwillie's agent, if so he's just tweeted this: David Goodwille will not sign for Blackburn. Just saying. However I don't want that as a distraction to me David Goodwille to blackburn ain't gonna happen.
Bobby G Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Another joke. Same old story if true. Rubbish waste of time.
Roversi Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 He can't of been asking for anything over the top surely. What annoys me is that under the previous regime who were as tight as anything could agree personal terms for the likes of Bellamy, McCarthy, Santa cruz, givet. Whilst the current regime who keep claiming they are willing to spend can't agree terms for a player moving from a mid table spl team to a premiership club. I really can't get my head round it, goodwillie will be on no more than 15k a week at Dundee, must of been the bonuses they couldn't agree on.
howzat Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 seems to me that he sabotaged the deal on purpus to get he's move to rangers, no way would rangers pay him 30k a week.
Give 'Em the Axe Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 If this 'contract snag' does turn out to be terminal, I'll be very disappointed.
roversfanben Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 How skint (or tight) are Rangers? They have had a third bid turned down for him now, they know how much United accepted from us, so why don't they bid the same? Unless they are totally skint.
Ben-2000 Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Just as I thought we were getting somewhere... Not following transfers anymore! Depressing!
jim mk2 Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 The deal has hit another "snag" according to the BBC. No mention of the cause but could it just be the usual one....... ? ..... Venky's don't wish to spend the little money they do have. I was given -4 for this earlier today. Some people just cannot handle bad news can they ?
niggit Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Same old rubbish with this club, just a different player.
keaney23 Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Ive read the same things , deal dead according to his agent and who else is more in the know then the agent. He couldn't agree personal terms and looks Rangers bound if you ask me. It would be a shock if he turned us down for Blackpool. Its frustrating, On Friday I was not liking the idea of Goodwillie coming to Blackburn then finding more information about the player, speaking to Scottish football fans I came round and was pretty excited to have such a highly rated player coming to Blackburn aged 22. There's more fish in the sea though and a lot more work to be done in the next 10 days
dr_awol Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 goodwillie will be on no more than 15k a week at Dundee, must of been the bonuses they couldn't agree on. no more than 4k gutted if true ive already make the mental leap of him being a rovers player
howzat Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 i will bet anyone on here he will be a rangers player by the middle of next week, if its true that he wanted more than 30k a week i don't blame venkys for pulling out of the deal. still does'nt help us though we need front men despartely
roversfanben Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 He wants to join Rangers, it's pretty obvious if he is turning us down. Lack of ambition, something a lot of Scottish players have. Why risk being a flop in the EPL when you can be an average player and take the SPL by storm?
Kamy100 Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Very disappointing that this deal has fallen through. If he was asking £30k plus then fair enough but just can't believe that his demands would've been so high.

It's been said over and over again......Venky's will not spend the money.
67splitscreen Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Guess paying Kalinic 30kpw, unproven has left it's mark.
Scott18 Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Disappointed as it did look as if there was talent. But if he doesn't want to test himself in a better league then unfortunately there is nothing we can do.
broadsword Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Disappointing but are you surprised ? It's been said over and over again......Venky's will not spend the money. But why go so far with a prospective player then not offer enough money? For a player at Dundee United we shouldn't have to break the wage structure for him. Who at the club will not be handling contracts? Surely not Ali Merchant, maybe that guy who came from Leicester (but he isn't Chief Exec, is he?) Being scrupulously fair, it may be that the player think he's better than he is and we're not prepared to set our already-inflated wage structure out of kilter for him. The nagging thought in my mind though is that given the way the club's infra-structure has been gutted, and the confused command structure (who's really running the club?) that we are (notwithstanding the capture of Petrovic, pending work permit application) actually incapable of signing any decent players.
briansol Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Disappointing but are you surprised ? It's been said over and over again......Venky's will not spend the money. They were able to agree terms with a player of higher pedigree (Petrovic) and the fact that they got the bid accepted contradicts your statement. Suprised and dissapointed as well. Will be interesting to find out what caused the deal to collapse so quickly.
roversfanben Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 I am dissapointed, he is a promising young talent. But, man, Rangers fans talk about him like he is the best player in the world! I will be gutted if we ever end up like that, desperate for our club to sign average players. http://forum.rangersmedia.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=195443&st=20

Possibly true, but most transfers fall through because of money. The story going around Scotland is Rovers wouldn't pay him the wages. I'd amend your last sentence to Incapable of signing any players. There, that should get me another -5 votes (and counting).
