Waggy76 Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Shearer was under 6ft yet probably the strongest player in Premiership history. The Greatest player in premiership history...
den Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 By how far?. Quite a way I think. You seem to think that I've said DG wont make it here. My point, to an ealier poster who said that many Dundee Utd fans think he's the best striker they've ever had, was that that means nothing. That's all.

I don't know where you're getting that from, but as much as I rate Goodie, he isn't the best striker Dundee United have ever had! In fact many fans rate Johnny Russell to be a more than able replacement, from our youth team. Possibly the equal of Kevin Gallacher at the same age, but Gall was playing in a team that beat the likes of Barcelona home and away. Paul Sturrock is the greatest striker we ever had, and given we once sold Duncan Ferguson for the then British record transfer fee, Goodie would need to be raking in around £50m to equal that!

It was a reply to 67 splitscreen. The DU fans rate him as one of their best in over 50 years according to some, even better tha Gally at a similar age. Anyhow I was looking at Fletcher's goal stats in the prem as the rate him much better also. First season 8 in 31 games at Wolves last season 10 in 15 games. Give the lad time to settle in and I'd be happy with a similar return to Fletchers stats for last season.
Derbyshire Blue Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 David Goodwille hasn't half caused some interest on the RangersMedia Forum 384 pages and counting and they still hold out hope of highjacking the deal
adopted scouser Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Apologies if this has been posted, can't be bothered reading 27 pages. This is looking good > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zxXkSFmkv8
robbo_rovers Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I was speaking to a mate on saturday night who is a Rangers season ticket holder. He is gutted that it looks like we are going to get him. Reckons he's a pretty decent player. Will be quite pleased if we sign him, would much us sign young talent at a decent price than looking for a 'marquee signing'.
Grabbi Graeme Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Just on SSN, Rangers still haven't give up on the deal although they have yet to agree a fee with Dundee Utd
OJRovers Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Why has it taken til August for us to finalise this deal? I don't know much about the guy or how good he is. Although we are badly in need of strikers at the minute. If we sign DG, I would still want 1 more permanent top striker and 1 more on loan. The further away from the team Roberts is the better.

Apparently on radio Lancs the lad has signed, can't confirm it as I can't get radio on t'internet (work blocked) I thought this web site was up to speed. Ummm hopefully it is true.
RibbleValleyRover Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 5'9" isn't short - either in life, or in the sport of football. Rovers did have to resort to Allardyce type football to keep us up last season, we went a lot more direct in those final 4-5 games. He might be great in the air (I don't know) but if we are going to play with one up front I would like to see someone taller in that role.
Iceman Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Rangers due to bid again. Glasgow evening times. That will be the 10th time that Rangers have made an improved bid. 1st it was 1mill, then 1.2mill, then 1.3mill, then 1.4mill, then 1.5mill, then 1.6mill, then 1.7mill, then 1.8mill, then 1.9mill, and now they are bidding 1.99mill.. still short of what Dundee wants
Roversi Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 why do i get the feeling rangers will get a bid accepted and at the last minute he will decide to go to them.
booth Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Why has it taken til August for us to finalise this deal? He got accused of rape, and just recently the charges have been dropped. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/2011/07/26/scotland-star-david-goodwillie-rape-charges-dropped-86908-23297847/
Stuart Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 why do i get the feeling rangers will get a bid accepted and at the last minute he will decide to go to them. Same reason that I'm inclined to agree.
alexanders Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I thought this deal would happen today. Nervous it won't come off.
davulsukur Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I'm kinda hoping that Dundee will reject Rangers bids, while he is having a medical with us. Surely they would prefer him to be sold to a different league and not selling to a rival team?
roversfanben Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I don't think they will accept Rangers bid. Dundee and Rangers hate each other, and he doesn't want Goodwillie to end up with their bitter rivals. Unless they offer more than us, I don't expect him to accept their bid, even if they match us.
Ripleys love child Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I think he'll come to us tbh he needs to get out of Glasgow for the good of his career . It would be a fresh start for him

I'm sure venkys would have been forgiven for all thats happened had they signed someone on a rape charge...
niggit Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Don't worry guys, 5th bid been rejected today. http://sport.stv.tv/football/scottish-premier/dundee-united/264567-rangers-fail-in-new-david-goodwillie-bid/
