rebelmswar Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 CryerRovers Dundee United still expect Goodwillie to come to Rovers. But medical has been delayed until Kean comes back from India Panic over. How is that panic over? Rangers will be on their knees in front of him doing anything possible to get him while our manager, who HAS to meet him, flys back from India (when exactly?) Not panicking or anything, but I see him as the best Scottish striker prospect in years. If Kean wants him he should at least give the man a phone call. I believe that the players we are trying to bring into the club have all been chosen by Kean. Since the move away from Kentaro, negotiations for players have been conducted by 2 people at Ewood (can't name them) who I am told are dealing direct with Ali Merchant/Owners. Also in essence now Paul Hunt is doing the duties of a chief executive. Big shift from what was happening. Rovers still hopeful of getting deal done. So they are people that can make a decision without flying to Pune? So is Hunt going to be the chairman? Just wondering as signing players is not like buying a new storage facility.
Billy Castell Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 If only that where true OK, I had a check, and I was wrong. However, the fact that a player who has spent most of his career plodding around the English lower divisions along with Danny Invincible, Kyle Lafferty, Paul Heffernan and Junior Agogo can make a go at the top division along with the above players shows what a poor league the SPL is. The SPL is at best at the same level as the lower half of the 1st division.
Uddersfelt Blue Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Trouble is wages aside what can Rovers offer him? At Rangers he's guaranteed a full capacity crowd, European football and he will get trophies at Rangers. And he's a proven goal scorer in the SPL. Maybe he could actually show what he can do to a global audience rather than just to a full house at Ibrox playing in an inferior League (no disrespect)
Blackburn Ravers Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 If Kean wants him he should at least give the man a phone call. For all we know he may well have done that already.
Al Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 CryerRovers Dundee United still expect Goodwillie to come to Rovers. But medical has been delayed until Kean comes back from India Panic over. Unbelievable. The player travels all the way down from Scotland and can't have a medical because the pi11ock of a manager is in Pune. If it were me I would now insist in going to Rangers. To make him travel down and back again for nothing is just unacceptable.
Iceman Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Rangers will be on their knees in front of him Rangers on their knees, trying to get Goodwillie
EgyptianPete Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Kean to carry out the medical then? Why would he travel back up to Scotland today to come back tomorrow for a medical, I suggest he may be trying to talk to Rangers, it is very strange we did not put him up in a hotel overnight. Don't care what time it is in Pune Kean should be on the phone to him now. Beggars belief
rebelmswar Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 For all we know he may well have done that already. My point is, then why wait till he gets back? Does he want to give him a steely look in the eye and a strong handshake?

Just one question Kamy the two people you mention are they new or previous employees?
Amo Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Why would the manager need to be there for a medical?
Billy Castell Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 This whole waiting for Kean thing is madness. Assuming Kean is the one after him, and has been kept informed of how things are going, then why wait and give the Huns time to chip away and get in at the last minute? What a stupid way of doing business, especially as Goodwillie would have had to go back and forth between Blackburn and Scotland.

But people will still say "He has no ambition" When it seems that our ambition to sign the player in question can be put on hold for a meeting. Allegedly.
PAFELL Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 "CryerRovers Andrew Cryer Dundee United still expect Goodwillie to come to Rovers. But medical has been delayed until Kean comes back from India" Which is daft. Common knowledge that other clubs are interested in the player - Rangers being one of them. If Goodwillie has travelled from scotland for todays medical and is now having to go back to scotland and then return. He could be very pi@@ off with Rovers and sign elsewhere. If Rovers want this player, they should get him down to have the medical and then sign him up if all is well with the medical. More stupid dilly dallying by Rovers.

I've just read that harper Collins are recalling all dictionaries purchased in the last six months. Apparently there's a new definition of "clueless".

I don't think anyone envisaged that things between owners and Kentaro would change so dramatically. So likes of Hunt etc are on a steep learning curve. I agree signing players is a hugely complex business but this is where we are at, better than the deadlock of few weeks ago but with people who are not experienced at this sorta thing, although everyone I have talked to are hugely impressed by Hunt.
PAFELL Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Why would the manager need to be there for a medical? He wants to see if he has a goodwillie
HATRIX Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I cannot help thinking , we would be better off with Craig Bellamy ..Not sure the manager , could cope with him though ... This lads supposed to be a bit of a numpty aswell though.I agree ,we would probs be better off with Bellers as we would know what we would be getting.

Kean is experienced at that kind if thing? Although I do hear that he is polishing his stethoscope as I type.
Exiled_Rover Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 On twitter Nicko says that one of Goodwillie's (many)agent has been offering him elsewhere today.
John Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I don't think anyone envisaged that things between owners and Kentaro would change so dramatically. Bearing in mind Venkys were close to SEM/Kentaro prior to the takeover, and already had a working relationship with them, are you sure they are not still involved? Kentaro were also meant to help with some potential media deals in Asia (in relation to Rovers).
niggit Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 It could be that he just wants to tie up a few things in Dundee, for him to move and live down here.

We have had more steep curves in the last month than a road through the Andes. I just can not comprehend why we are waiting on the manager to get back when he has already, allegedly, chosen the player in the first place. Coupled with - why the hell must he always be flying off to Pune? Especially now.... with players who should be in some serious training and fitness regimes - judging by the friendlies.
philipl Posted August 1, 2011 Author Posted August 1, 2011 reluctantnicko Alan Nixon Deffo some sort of snag with Goodwillie. One of his many agents been offering him elsewhere today. Rovers need to get act together. #again If only those damned fool Venky's had not crippled our club. There is nobody with the experience we need to deal with this situation. And wtf is going on two weeks from the big KO with Manager and senior players sight seeing in Pune? CryerRovers Andrew Cryer Dundee United still expect Goodwillie to come to Rovers. But medical has been delayed until Kean comes back from India In a word BONKERS. In two words ROY KEAN
Sparky Marky Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 To be sacked with a bit of luck. This type of target is ridiculous....seriously rubbish targets.
