m1st Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 These ###### don't know when to give up, do they? http://sport.stv.tv/football/scottish-premier/rangers/264651-rangers-still-in-discussions-over-david-goodwillie-says-ally-mccoist/ But surely he's only saying what you'd expect any manager to say in his circumstances. He only talks about being "hopeful", although Rangers are offering the player half as much as we are by way of wages.
niggit Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Goodwillie on his way down to Blackburn..... Apparently
niggit Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 According to who Niggit? Some media outlets in Scotland. But with everything else, that many stories, what are you meant to believe.
roversfanben Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I can confirm what Niggit said. He is on his way down for a quick meet and greet with Kean before his medical begins at about 1pm.
davulsukur Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 So Keans back then? We seriously screwed this lad around for a quick meet and greet?
john.leigh Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 So Keans back then? We seriously screwed this lad around for a quick meet and greet? And if he turned out to be a flop people would be screaming that Kean never even met him before he signed.... Kean's just being diligent, not a bad trait IMO
dubdubdub Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 What if kean is the only person who'll spot this guy has no legs? Won't be laughing then eh!
LeftWinger Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Could we not have just introduced the lad to Karl Pilkington? No-one would have known any different.
chris Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 And if he turned out to be a flop people would be screaming that Kean never even met him before he signed.... Kean's just being diligent, not a bad trait IMO If he turned out to be a flop it wouldn't matter if Kean made him breakfast in bed, he'd still get just as much stick.
newfan Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I can confirm what Niggit said. He is on his way down for a quick meet and greet with Kean before his medical begins at about 1pm. can anyone tell me what goes on at "medical" because carrol was injured when he joined Liverpool and Formica was also not fit when brfc signed him . so basically what they check. disclosure : i am new to all this.
Backroom Tom Posted August 2, 2011 Backroom Posted August 2, 2011 Plus if he has had some personal problems is it not a good idea that the manager meets him to see if his attitude is right? I agree it was bad to be out of the country but he has to meet him
dubdubdub Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I do think the manager should meet with each signing first. Don't know the specifics of what has gone on but hasn't hurt by the looks of things. I presume at a medical they check for career damaging problems. Bone composition...maybe muscle structure. No idea really but that's my guess. Cue the Kean idiot abroad jokes...not from me though.

I have no issue with Kean wanting to meet him, the problem is with him being out of the country when we've got irons in the fire. For me, silly and avoidable.
chaddyrovers Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 bbcjimspence jim spence David Goodwiilie saga continues. Player on way to Blackburn for medical today from twitter

Was chatting to a DUFC fan online the other evening and he was saying one of Goodie's attributes is he's never injured and always fit. Considering our fitness troubles with Dunn, Roque and Grella that's a welcome relief.
davulsukur Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 And if he turned out to be a flop people would be screaming that Kean never even met him before he signed.... Kean's just being diligent, not a bad trait IMO Not really too sure how much he would learn from a brief chat. Nor how would Kean know if he is going to be a flop based on a chat. If he is a flop its because Kean hasn't done enough homework on the lad.
broadsword Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 And if he turned out to be a flop people would be screaming that Kean never even met him before he signed.... Kean's just being diligent, not a bad trait IMO So we'll evaluate whether he's any good on a meet and greet? Sounds plausible enough.
patrickvalery Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 So we'll evaluate whether he's any good on a meet and greet? Sounds plausible enough. Its not about his ability. That should have already been determined. Its about his attitude and personaility. What worries me is if Kean doesn't take a liking to him and pulls the plug on that basis. That would really dirty our good name even further in light of all the messing about already.
dubdubdub Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 He ain't going to be fit for long...I've heard dunn's disease is contagious. Good to know. Good for continuity and progression and such.
broadsword Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Which means that it should have been evaluated before calling him down for a medical, no? A classic case of cart before horse. In any case, the player shouldn't have been kept waiting because Kean was sight-seeing.
jimmymcmahon Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 How many times do you realistically think we are going to see him this season should he sign? He probably won't get a game until next season. What with keans hand firmly on Jason Roberts crotch and rochina and formica getting a lot of attention.
