But surely he's only saying what you'd expect any manager to say in his circumstances.

He only talks about being "hopeful", although Rangers are offering the player half as much as we are by way of wages.

And if he turned out to be a flop people would be screaming that Kean never even met him before he signed....

Kean's just being diligent, not a bad trait IMO

If he turned out to be a flop it wouldn't matter if Kean made him breakfast in bed, he'd still get just as much stick.

I can confirm what Niggit said. He is on his way down for a quick meet and greet with Kean before his medical begins at about 1pm.

can anyone tell me what goes on at "medical" because carrol was injured when he joined Liverpool and Formica was also not fit when brfc signed him . so basically what they check.

disclosure : i am new to all this.

Plus if he has had some personal problems is it not a good idea that the manager meets him to see if his attitude is right?

I agree it was bad to be out of the country but he has to meet him

I do think the manager should meet with each signing first. Don't know the specifics of what has gone on but hasn't hurt by the looks of things.

I presume at a medical they check for career damaging problems. Bone composition...maybe muscle structure. No idea really but that's my guess. Cue the Kean idiot abroad jokes...not from me though.

Exactly Tom. I have no issue with Kean wanting to meet him, the problem is with him being out of the country when we've got irons in the fire. For me, silly and avoidable.

Was chatting to a DUFC fan online the other evening and he was saying one of Goodie's attributes is he's never injured and always fit. Considering our fitness troubles with Dunn, Roque and Grella that's a welcome relief.

Not really too sure how much he would learn from a brief chat. Nor how would Kean know if he is going to be a flop based on a chat.

If he is a flop its because Kean hasn't done enough homework on the lad.

So we'll evaluate whether he's any good on a meet and greet?

Sounds plausible enough.

Its not about his ability. That should have already been determined. Its about his attitude and personaility.

What worries me is if Kean doesn't take a liking to him and pulls the plug on that basis. That would really dirty our good name even further in light of all the messing about already.
