Roost Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 What's the difference? I'd say Stanley Park edges it in terms of quality but they're comparable. The Dunk is a sh*thole - ancient, run down, dreary, expensive - so I imagine he stayed there.
roversfanben Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Any news to us Roversben? Nothing new to report. As I was saying all afternoon (yesterday) amidst the mass panic, the deal will be announced today and Ranger's have 0 chance of getting him, they were only bidding to appease the fans. And finally, we will be able to put this transfer behind us. Despite people claiming it has been a long epic transfer, it's going to have taken less than a week from our initial bid to the player joining, anyone else get the feeling that Rovers fans are over dramatic?
Mattyblue Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Why would bidding and then losing out to Rovers appese Rangers fans? Would just frustrate them more, no?

To an extent. But its the Twitter age which makes this much more painful than earlier. Even the media seem to read some twitters and then give stories from that. I am happy that you have been bang on from day 1 on this transfer.

Despite people claiming it has been a long epic transfer, it's going to have taken less than a week from our initial bid to the player joining, anyone else get the feeling that Rovers fans are over dramatic? Perhaps, but why did the player come here on Monday, then go back, then come back on Tuesday and not sign? Even if the player signs there has been some messing around and with a bigger name/ego we may have lost out on the signature. And I hate it when people say "Rovers fans are over dramatic". I think you will find all football fans are over dramatic because they are passionate about their club. Look at Arsenal, they boo'd Wenger in a pre-season friendly It's the ones who couldn't give a stuff what we do you should be concerned about. It's called apathy.
braddock Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 It's the ones who couldn't give a stuff what we do you should be concerned about. It's called apathy. A true statement but I'll point out that there are people who do give a stuff who aren't up in arms about Venky's too.
Mattyh1983 Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 The Dunk is a sh*thole - ancient, run down, dreary, expensive - so I imagine he stayed there. was over run with Rovers players when i worked at the Dunkenhalgh Marcus Bent, Alan Mahon, Lucas Niell (who ended up wham bammin of the beauty therapists- not sure if they are still together), Eyal Berkovic, Marc Keller, Peter Enkelman (really scraping the barrel here) Morten Gamst Pedersen plus all the trailists. plus had the likes of Liverpool, Man Utd, Spurs and any other team looking play the Dingles. as well as the England U-21's when they played Greece at Ewood Park once had to fix a telly for the spurs lads so they could watch golf and given a tottenham training shirt the day after which was quickly sold on. got on with all of them really except Bent, had regular visits from Duff and Dunn as well. any way-* off topic
alexanders Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Played with Dundee United on FIFA 11 last night. Mr Goodwillie scored against Chelsea and seemed miles ahead other players on Dundee. Just sayin.
deryck guyler's spoon Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Why would bidding and then losing out to Rovers appese Rangers fans? Would just frustrate them more, no? Rangers have a new owner. He has quickly established a reputation for having short arms and deep pockets much to the chagrin of the Rangers support. Now they can appease the fans by saying "look, we tried to get Goodwillie but how can we compete with a club that gets 20 times more TV money than us?"
Moppy Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Does anyone know if he counts as "homegrown" under the new rules? Or is it trained by a club in the leagues FA?
Clitherover Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 A journo from Glasgow Times or some Scottish paper on Talk Sport earlier was saying he's on his way down to sign today.
budha Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Not a homegrown, only players trained by a English or Welsh club are.
m0r94n Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Why would bidding and then losing out to Rovers appese Rangers fans? Would just frustrate them more, no? It makes them look like they've at least tried. Therefore if Rangers fall short this season they can look to events such as this when playing the blame game.

Never! LOL He's signing today isn't he, so you are right, just over a week from start to finish, with a CL club and others having a stab for him "The sky is falling..." This could be a good week!

booth Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Insider is like a rubbish tv psychic but worse. At least they get some things correct.
roversfanben Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 My source was wrong about one thing yesterday, and that was about Goodwillie meeting Kean, as Kean only gets back to England today. I believe that is why the deal isn't't going to be officialy announced until today, so the 2 have a chance to meet and probably photographed together. As for where Goodwillie stayed last night, I do not know but Cryer seems in the loop in this one, so I take his word that he was in the North West.
True Blue & White Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Played with Dundee United on FIFA 11 last night. Mr Goodwillie scored against Chelsea and seemed miles ahead other players on Dundee. I imagine this is similar to how Kean scouted and then sold the idea of buying him to the Raos too.
