True that Bish. I thought Roberts looked a different player first half, lively and trying tom win the ball. Second half he went back to bending over trying to win free kicks, and moaning at the ref.

He's simply never been good enough as a starting striker. He should be grateful to be at a PL club and I would be happy to have him on the bench because he can do damage for 20 minutes. Over the course of a game, forget it, the ball never sticks with him for others to play off him consistently, nor can he be played in one on one because he always misses those chances.

The nasty thing is that he is in the Kean/Venkys pact now and looks like he will be staying in the first 11. That means two things, Formica, Hoillet, Rochina and Olssen's talents will be wasted and we will be relegated. I think Roberts up front every game and relegation is pretty much the same thing.

Not quite sure how you can say that on his showing today, rarely lost the ball and had one great effort just wide, worked his socks off and put in 3 or so tackles chasing down the line to win us a corner.

Decent showing from him I thought.

There was one moment in front of the riverside not long after he'd come on when he stood next to a wolves defender, looking half a sleep. The ball was played into him his reaction to this was far too slow as the Wolves defender easily took the ball away from him and Goodwillie fell on his backside trying in vain to make up for his complete lack of readiness.

That missed chance has to hit the back of the net Tom. When he missed it was said at the time remember Ashley Ward missing similar type of chances.

To be fair JAL, your notorious for judging players too quickly, remember Phil Jones?

And David Hoilett wasn't it?

I thought he did well to even get a shot away with the pressure he was under.

Maybe I'm completely blind but I thought he did well when he came on and I didn't notice that he was overweight?

I thought he did well, but he should have been on 10 minutes earlier...

I agree - I thought he offered something completely different to what we've had for some time.

Did really well with his main chance to actually get a shot away and I think there was definite promise shown from David.

Not likeyou to condradict people there is it?

I think he's using Calista Flockhart as the barometer.

Brings a whole new meaning to the term 'Weather Girl'...

Why is it that when we get a stocky player he becomes fat all of a sudden?

Its just a different build, hence how he managed to bundle his way down the right wing due to his strength and build.

When he came on he did well, and had 3 or more shots in a short time.

Yesterday him & Formica were the two big positive signs.

Haha at the guys thinking Goodwillie is fat, he isn't fat at all, some people need their eyes testing.

Fat or not, he is not fit enough. As suggested by a few on here, people not impressed at Brockhall

His agent had a playing career that had several of the clubs Kean played for in his miserable one, so I wonder whether they are pals? Or have a link through mutual friends? Their aren't that many agents in Scotland.

So signed for his ability, or signed because his mate was willing to allow some skimming off the agents fee?

Who knows and it's purely a guess.

Tad unfair on his signing. Definitely looks like he could provide more than the options of Mame and RSC which we had last season.

He isn't fat at all, and i thought he looked good when he came on because we were lacking up top. Roberts was exhausted which wasn't surprising as he gave 110% in the first half.

Agree bish, and as many have said, maybe an improvement in fitness along with a little bit more experience given time he could become a very good player for Rovers. But we need the results now though and hes supposedly one of our main strikers which for now just isnt good enough, is it.

Rovers have had all summer to prepare for yesterdays opening fixture, yet, what an amateurish shambles of a spectacle they put on for us all.

His love handles looked to be hanging over his shorts, he certainly doesnt look to be a pro athlete.

Showed some nice play but didn't remind me of Rooney all that much. All the same (daffy) he walks like a duck and as such should not be wearing coloured boots to draw attention to the fact..... much less bloody YELLOW ones ffs!

I know for a fact that at least one of them people is a right fat mess himself too.

The gulf in class between the SPL and the PL has been underlined by the 4-1 thumping Killie have just handed out to Hibs to move up to 4th in their league.
