Black Burn Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 why would i care about selling shirts in some far flung place on the map? i want a goalscorer, as supporters all we should care about is buying proven quality, a proven finisher. Leave the marketing side of things to the marketing department. I happen to come from a far flung place on the map (from your perspective, that is). So personally, I would care. I do think it isn't necessary to worry about us living in Asia, though, because I will continue supporting the team regardless of whether we sign an Asian player or not.

donnermeat Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Neymar of course. Did you see his goal against Flamengo the other day? Absolute quality. This could be Balaji's marquee signing! (Please note I am not serious about the last part). Seriously though we can't afford/attract a proven goalscorer so we just have to make do with good strikers instead of great ones. Can't really expect much more at the moment I think.

pick32 Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 This player is hyped up because of his nationality, we could do allot better for the price mentioned.
philipl Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 For what it is worth: roversinsider Blackburn Rovers Spy PARK...'bid' has been confirmed by same sources as Goodwillie so guessing it's right. Told bid is £5m but will take at least £7m #Rovers
imy9 Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 This player is hyped up because of his nationality, we could do allot better for the price mentioned. Reading my World Soccer magazine and he has been described as 'the poster boy of Korean football', I sense this may have more to do with marketing but he is a decent player nonetheless.
67splitscreen Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Doesn't float my boat. To much of a gamble for the money. Stuff the commercial aspect, we need a solid squad to challenge for Europe.
The Rover of Finland Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 This player is hyped up because of his nationality, we could do allot better for the price mentioned. Probably true. He also isn´t a natural striker. We already have enough attacking midfielders (seems like very good ones too).
Silencio Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Decent player but not what we need with us already having Olssen, Formica, Rochina and Hoillet. We need a good target man for them to play around. It will take money and I don't think Venky's will pay it... With no D of F and Kean in the bad books then who is deciding the targets, Ali Conmerchant?
Kamy100 Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Liverpool favourites to sign him?: http://www.insidefutbol.com/2011/07/30/park-chu-youngs-liverpool-desire-puts-reds-in-driving-seat/46154/
Give 'Em the Axe Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Liverpool favourites to sign him?: http://www.insidefutbol.com/2011/07/30/park-chu-youngs-liverpool-desire-puts-reds-in-driving-seat/46154/ Is that website trustworthy? Or is it 'Inside Futbol understands....' ??
howzat Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 i cant see liverpool being in for him, rumour i've heard is that we offered 4m plus add ons raising to 5m and thats been rejected as monaco want around 7m for him
Give 'Em the Axe Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Hmmmm. How about 5 million plus Andrews? Mais oui!
ultrablue Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 To much of a gamble for the money. Stuff the commercial aspect I'm pretty sure this was tongue-in-cheek, but that is quite the contradiction.
67splitscreen Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 I'm pretty sure this was tongue-in-cheek, but that is quite the contradiction. The football world is full of it. Anyway, Raul is the man.
roverandout Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 7 million? are they taking the p*ss? i wouldnt pay £7
BuckyRover Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 7 million? are they taking the p*ss? i wouldnt pay £7 Not a happy bunny are you?
roverandout Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 nope, not at the moment, all i want is a goalscorer up front, sick of being linked with strikers that DONT score goals
BiggusLaddus Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Missed the one coming in for a medical tomorrow who got 19 league goals last year then?
roverandout Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 19 league goals in the mickey mouse league? that equates to 6 goals in the premiership and we dont even know if hes still coming.
donnermeat Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 nope, not at the moment, all i want is a goalscorer up front, sick of being linked with strikers that DONT score goals Do we have the money to buy/ability to attract a top quality striker? NO. I think we need to get real a bit. Although I agree that £7m may be a bit too much.
roverandout Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 well if we are willing to splash out 7 million on player like that then there must be good goalscorers out there for that ammount, or we could use some of the money to pay a player like raul's wages with it.
Gumbi Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 19 league goals in the mickey mouse league? that equates to 6 goals in the premiership and we dont even know if hes still coming. If we took that attitude for every striker we try to buy then we won't have many players to choose from as the majority of leagues are worse than our own.
roverandout Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 then we should be looking at better leagues. Im pretty sure the dutch, french, portugeese leagues are alot better than the spl and i dont think they are considered top leagues. Got no problem with buying goodwillie as a backup striker but we also need a good proven striker than can garantee us 15 prem goals a year.

Which club would sell a top goalscorer for £7m? These players are at a premium, clubs don't sell them for that amount from established leagues. We bought Niko for £6m and his record was about 1 in 2. 20+ goal strikers from established leagues will cost a minimum of £10m and I don't think we have that. Just look at Cisse, they want £15m or something along those lines. And then don't get me started on the wages...
