so would you be confident in goodwillie getting us the goals then? because i wouldnt. the croatia league isnt anywhere near those leagues i mentioned.

by the way i said 15 goals a season, im sure they would cost slightly less

Danish league is said to be a weak league but look how much Copenhagen wanted for N'Doye. I think it was like 9Mil and 50k a week wages. He scored 25 in 31 league appearances, not sure what that would translate to in the EPL, not good at Carlsberg maths.

So you want a 15 goal a season striker from an established league for less than £10m.. they're not easy to find.

The idea is that we buy a relatively cheap, promising striker and then turn him into a 15 goal a season player. We are a lower midtable team, we're not suddenly going to purchase a decent, regular goalscorer. We either buy those with potential or players who are slightly past their best. That's the reality.

Yes the Croatian league isn't as good and he still cost £6m! So players from a better league would cost...? That's the only point I am trying to make. We all want as striker to score 15+ league goals a season and unless we get another Benni/RSC type deal then we are going to need spend at least £10m and probably 50k wages. We just don't have that.

No I'm not confident he is gonna score regularly for us and yes I still would like us to sign another striker but we need to be realistic also. We don't have the clout financially or in any other sense to attract a top goalscorer ahead of other clubs.

We may get Raul (which I seriously doubt) but I don't think he would bring much more than 15 goals a season. Though I would still be over the moon if we sign him.

ok fair enough, people have pointed out that even a 15 goal a season striker will still cost money but we must try and bring in an experienced striker who down the years have proven they can score that ammount of goals at the top level. The players we are being linked with have never done that.

Half the people on here are moronic. The only way we are going to get a 15 goal a season striker at Rovers is to spend massively, get lucky or buy 'em young and with potential. And do you know what...that goes for every team out there...looks like we're aiming for option B.

Why would anybody let a top goal scorer go for anything less than 15 million? Because you want them to? Illogical.

well in that case we can only hope to survive relegation again this season, where has all the money gone? wheres the jones money? 6 million for kalanic? surely theres enough to buy a top striker. If people are happy with the strikers we are looking at then dont expect much this season. And you shouldnt be calling people morons.

If he is still scoring goals then he would still command big wages and a sizeable transfer fee I think.

If he isn't scoring goals at the moment he will accused on here of being past it and Kean/Venky's etc will be lambasted for going for these targets and not others.

i'd be happy with the korean lad, probably recoup more on shirt sales than any other player we could "actually" sign cant imagine too many would want the scottish lads name on they're back puns would get tiresome fast. Not sure why his stats are'nt great be it playing out of position or a part of a poor team creating little but the youtube montage does show he at least has 10 times the composure of roberts and some fox in the box attributes. He won't make us weaker thats for damn sure.

sorry brfc, im not interested in selling shirts, i am interested in someone putting the ball in our damn net, played out of position usually means not good enough to lead the line, we have plenty of strikers who could be played out of position at our club already because they arent good enough in their own position.

im talking about a raul or someone similar, someone whos coming into their thirties as they wouldnt command a big fee then. Look at van nistelroy for example didnt cost malaga a great ammount.

They would still want massives wages though and there is still no guarantee that they would score around 15 goals a season.

I would be over the moon if we got someone the stature of Raul or RVN. But your still talking (I think) around 70k wages if the transfer fee is low enough. Unless it comes from 'Balaji's personal money' (that we've heard so much of, yet seen none) then maybe it could happen. Still very unlikely though.

I think if other managers in Europe heard Raul is available for such an amount, then I'm sure they would also be interested. And they would probably be a more attractive proposition than us.

Btw this isn't a personal attack at all, just getting opinions out there.

selling shirts just makes the transfer fee less daunting is all im getting at, as for a proven striker with our budget it simply is'nt going to happen and is'nt worth dwelling on i mean seriously who are you thinking of a darren bent type costs 24m ffs. Pay the money and take a chance on someone/anyone is the boat we are in with about 12 other teams.

pretty sure they have more chance than the likes of goodwillie or park.

They would still need to have the ball provided to them to score though and Nistlerooy has always been more of a poacher. If anything we should be looking at midfielders who can make pin point passes to our strikers so they can have a better chance of scoring.

The fella on Twitter who claimed to be Goodwillie's agent and insisted that he wouldn't sign for us while the BBC spoke to someone else also claiming to be his agent who said he would, reckons Park is in talks with Liverpool.

the finance company or insurers? whoever sponsor liverpool apparently do most of their business in asia it was reported tat they wanted 2 payers from the region in the liverpool squad when they did the deal.
