Henwah Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 well in that case we can only hope to survive relegation again this season, where has all the money gone? wheres the jones money? 6 million for kalanic? surely theres enough to buy a top striker. If people are happy with the strikers we are looking at then dont expect much this season. And you shouldnt be calling people morons. Most fans would still say that avoiding relegation is the first priority this season. Our current/ex strikeforce is/was hopeless, they are trying to fix it - believing that the answer is to find a young cheap experienced 15+ goals a season striker in one package is beyond optimistic

Mc Love Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 19 league goals in the mickey mouse league? that equates to 6 goals in the premiership and we dont even know if hes still coming. Its still probably pretty much more that what Roberts would score
roverandout Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 i agree/disagree with you all on various points but my point is we STILL need a GOALSCORER.
ultrablue Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Liverpool gear already sell very well here as they are carried by the Adidas shops. Signing Park CY would mean flogging even more. I've said this before but it bears saying again - very few shirts or training gear would be sold here if we signed Park CY. Umbro do not have anything like the market share that Adidas and Nike do. I've never seen a Bolton shirt, or any Bolton memorabilia for sale since Lee CY went there. Money can be made from extra sponsorship though. The game between Man U and Bolton last year had mega coverage on all the sports channels because you had two Koreans playing against eachother. I wouldn't be surprised if we were looking at Park CY in order to get shirt sponsorship sorted out. As for the more important matter of whether he's a good player or not- I've seen him live a few times when he first came through at FC Seoul. He always led the attacking line there and played well with his back to goal. He's stronger than most people expect. At Monaco he just didn't fit in with their setup. He was asked to run onto the ball rather than have it played to his feet with his back to goal. Most of his goals came like that, but most were on breakaways when he had a lot of space. As he didn't score enough he was moved around, out the the wings etc. He was one of their better players but was in the wrong setup. I think the price is a little steep, although Monaco are only asking for 7million because they think they can get it. I think if we stick to our guns and interest from other clubs die down, we could get a decent player for a decent price, say 5million, who would tick some boxes for the owners as well as Steve Kean.
donnermeat Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Ultrablue- is there any talk of it happening over there? My friends over there can't find anything but they aren't really football people so to speak. Btw, like your sig-I love soju!

All the talk here is about Park Ji Sung's new contract and Lee CY breaking his leg. So I haven't heard anything.
67splitscreen Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 His move to Lille has broken down 6m€ asking price to rich.
SergioPeter89 Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Arsenal will pay...wait for it...2,6m for him.. Thank God that we did not go for him, what a gamble that would be...
roversfanben Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/oddballs/873689-park-chu-young-on-verge-of-arsenal-transfer-after-going-awol-from-lille Another one missed out on, or a bullet dodged? He seems like a good player, but if that article is to be believed, he also sounds like a total cock.
mjwood00 Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 EUR 3 million transfer fee, EUR 2 million bonus, EUR 190k a month wages. Not an overly expensive deal.
roversfanben Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Not sure why you are posting in Euros. But for those of us who live in the Uk, that's £2.7m up front, £1.8m in add-ons and £40k p/w in wages.
MarkBRFC71 Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Looks like he's definitely going to Arsenal. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14692916.stm
