sam_rovers
I feel we are so unprepared for the season coming up. I am really worried that were spiralling towards relegation, and by the time the owners realize that kean is not up to task and that we are woefully short on player numbers it will be too late. This may be a very very long season

jim mk2
IMO that if venkys had sacked Kean when people on here wanted them to, we'd have gone down without a doubt. Can't be proven I know, buy Venkys made the right decision, the players wanted to play for the manager and that saved us. A good performance on the last day of the season plus the right results elsewhere saved us from the drop. And why were in that predicament in the first place, young GAV ? ross-shire rover
I'm thinking pendulums and Newton's Third Law here. ( Go on look it up - it'll make a change from trying to think of Goodwillie cock jokes) Like many on this board I've been dismayed at what's happened to the club since Venky's took over. Surely no need to go over it all again.... But, there's so much negativity on this board that even if we got sell-out crowds, won games by playing positive football, signed superb players at bargain prices, had a healthy balance sheet etc etc, there'd still be plenty of people on here who'd find lots of reasons to criticise. In other words, I'm so fed up of all the criticism, I'm actually starting to feel supportive of our manager and owners, even though I know I shouldn't.......or should I? roverandout
im going to be negative again. Tried postivie with rovers, it just doesnt fit with this lot. 1. a numpty of a manager who spouts utter turd and has no idea how to organise a team and then tries to put a positive spin on every performance even when there isnt one. 2. broken promises by the venkys. They asked us to 'judge them on this summer' so far they he failed miserably. 3. a squad lacking any quality apart from 2 or 3 player 4. not ONE striker who is up to scratch. When was the last time we had a quality striker? There are many more but i cant be bothered writing anymore as the hurt of being a rovers supporter makes my fingers numb. Ripleys love child
Well what would you prefer roverandout? Benjani and mame douif as our only signings like last year or the best young scottish talent (goodwille) 1 of the best Serbian young talents (petrovic) and propably 1 of the best talents in the greek league (vieirinha) and more to come by what I've heard. Formica and rochina are ready to hit the ground running and imph are gunna be stars this season and add to that the tremendous youth we have I think things are looking kushty compared to last year. Was you this negative when the trust owned us?

roverandout
no ripleys, i knew the walkers limitations, i knew that they wouldnt invest in the club as they wanted rid. When the venkys came in i thought we would see a revolution and evolution, i thought they would be spending considerably more than what we have done this summer and on quality players. Its too early to say whether goodwillie will become a class signing, hes unproven so we cant rest all our hopes on his shoulders. Yes we have bought/buying a few youngsters who are unproven, how do you know whether the serb, verienha or goodwillie will make it at this level? we STILL havent invested in a QUALITY striker as yet and by the sound of things we are only looking to spend around 3-6 million on one. qpr payed blackpool 1.2 million on dj campbell for god's sake, swansea had to fork out 1.75 on lita and we are only investing a little more than that on a position we desperately need to strengthen more than most? Ripleys love child
How do you know by spending fortunes you get good players ? Remember Kidd and hodgson , spent fortunes but to no evail. I think that by buying young and hungry players with the exeption of the odd mature player this is the right way to go about things. Kean as come out and said we are buying at least 1 def 1 mid and 1 more striker so patience my friend. So quit the pointless rambling for now but if come sept 1st and we havnt then I'll be happy for you to carry out your mindless ranting .
roverandout
ok fair enough but i will only be happy if/when we bring in a QUALITY striker because thats what we desperately need.
tonyoz
The last time we spent a decent amount on a striker, we stuffed it up! 6 million = Kalinic. RSC and McCarthy were bargains in comparison.

Was you this negative when the trust owned us? You can't compare last summer with this as the senario is completely different, we were up for sale and several parties were interested. This summer we are meant to be judging our new owners, promises of champions league and our biggest ever budget and that's before I add in a Ronaldinho. Veirinha is a decent player, but with Hoillet and Emerton already here do we need another right winger? Will Hoillet play in the hole or perhaps be a striker as he believes he is? Kean wants to play a passing game and yet we haven't signed any quality in the middle who can do that, the serb would appear to be a sitter who can play, but it was JJ's tackling, pace and power that needed replacing. We've lost Jones, who was our only other reasonably pacey CB so now when/if Samba's out we will again lack pace at the back as well as height. Olsson who has always been lacking at full back as his positional sense and defending isn't the best will be reverting back to full back, even though all of his best showings have come on the wing. No striker of quality has joined and as things stand we only have 2 of them on the books, that's not enough. The season kicks off in 7 days and we've had over 6 months to get our targets sorted and plainly haven't. Rochina and Formica are completely unproven in the EPL and as things stand we lack a serious amount of people who have and can play in the premiership, I believe someone said 14 players have played in our squad. Our backroom team has been decimated, youth coaches have walked out. And despite a great showing by our youth, the man responsible is now with the reserves. No decision can be made without someone flying out to Pune meaning that the focus is not about getting it right on the pitch but pandering to our owners desires and demands. It's little wonder people are claiming us to be the newcastle of the north west and hopefully those reading the Sam article will finally begin to understand exactly why we find ourselves in this mess. Billy Castell
We're dooooooooommmmmmed!!!! Steve Kean is crap, he's rubbish, the Raos are all idiots, we will sell all our players and look forward to Leon McKenzie and Ben Strevens up front. We will be relegated with 4 points, be in administration next week, we have not signed any players, and those we have signed are rubbish, and anyone who disagrees with any of this are delusional, moronic sub-human apes with no brain. I think that covers everything
roversmum
It seems that posters are not prepared to use only the one thread where they can moan, they keep doing it in others as well.. Why don't we just have one big thread for everything and be done with it? They they can say their piece and it can be quoted ad infinitum, save them bothering to come on and post ever again... ross-shire rover
Here's one definitely for the negativity thread. If we start the season badly there'll be choruses of "relegation & administration", if we start the season well we'll be told to look at how Blackpool & Hull & West Brom & other teams who started well ended up relegated. That should keep the doom-merchants happy
