Plastic Head Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Tonight sees the start of the Championship season so I thought we needed a thread. Teams to look out for at the top end: WHU - Will Sams style suit the media darlings fans? Not sure. 3rd Blackpool - Much changed team, can Holloway get the defence sorted out? 6th Reading - Looked a good side at the end of last season, haven't spent much but could they do it this season? 2nd. Middlesbrough - Decent manager and should be much improved. 4th Leicester - Spent big and expectations will be high. 1st. Forest - Still not quite good enough. 5th ..and the the bottom: Burnley - Fingers crossed (all 12) but likely mid-table again. 15th Barnsley - Hoping Keith Hil will do well but he will be up against it. 22nd Peterborough - Ferguson has already failed at this level twice. 24th Portsmouth - Make even Rovers look well run. More problems ahead.20th Donny Rovers - perennial strugglers. 23rd Bristol City - Surprise strugglers? 21st Fixtures this weekend (with predictions) are: Friday, 5 August 2011 Hull v Blackpool, 19:45 1-2 Saturday, 6 August 2011 Coventry v Leicester, 12:30 1-2 Brighton v Doncaster, 15:00 1-0 Bristol City v Ipswich, 15:00 1-2 Burnley v Watford, 15:00 3-1 Derby v Birmingham, 15:00 0-1 Middlesbrough v Portsmouth, 15:00 3-1 Nott'm Forest v Barnsley, 15:00 -11 Peterborough v Crystal Palace, 15:00 2-2 Reading v Millwall, 15:00 2-0 Southampton v Leeds, 17:20 0-0 Sunday, 7 August 2011 West Ham v Cardiff, 13:00 1-1 Let the mediocrity begin...

John Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Should be quite interesting - Leicester with Sven have spent a bit of cash, West Ham obviously with Sam, pressure to come straight back up, Forest with Steve Mac and Hughton at Brum. Few managers with points to prove.
cruz Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Was it really necessary to add the sub heading to the topic title?

chaddyrovers Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 West Ham to win the league Leicester second Playoff's:- Notts Forest, Blackpool, Ipswich, Leeds. Surprise teams will be Brighton, Derby and Southampton. Relegation:- Peterbrough, Coventry and Doncaster. Burnley will struggle this season for sure.
Mercer Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Watched Hull v Blackpool tonight and can see Holly's army running away with it. Slow start but looked very useful once they got into their stride. Fergie still better than owt we have in centre midfield !!! Put your money on WHAM & the Donkey Lashers for auto..
FourLaneBlue Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 There is usually one team that surprises. I think Southampton and Ipswich have the quality to be that team. West Ham and Leicester look to have by far the strongest squads at the moment, however.
roverandout Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 anyone think the dingles have a hope of promotion?
FourLaneBlue Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Maybe through the play-offs. However, they've lost Eagles, Mears, Cork. Don't look to have a strong enough squad for automatic promotion, as things stand.
roverandout Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 but they have brought in that world beater, treacy.
Ripleys love child Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 They have a chance with Howe in charge. I think he's a fantastic young and up and coming manager. I think England u21s need someone like howe , young and with fresh ideas but instead they keep Pre historic Pearce
philipl Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Very poor game. People are over looking Blackpool too much- that is a good unit for that level of football but Wham and Leicester look to be different class on paper. Don't rule out Southampton and Brighton to have a good run based on how newly promoted clubs have done in recent seasons in the second division.

I often go to brighton as it is local to me. Gus Poyet I believe is a very good manager.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted August 6, 2011 Moderation Lead Posted August 6, 2011 I've literally no idea how Blackpool won that game, Hull battered them, were just toothless in front of goal. I can't see Burnley getting promoted (Blue and white bias aside), they just don't have a good enough side IMO.
grizfoot Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Looks a strong West Ham team by Championship standards.
braddock Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 West Ham in the relegation zone. Wouldn't know what that feels like under our current manager. He's never been in
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 I see our subordinates at the Turd have sold another first teamer in Danny Fox to Southhampton today...the best fans in the world are not best pleased. What has happened to all their Premierleague money and parachute payments?..has flood called the coin in after massive losses with his company's I wonder.
Roverdale Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Robbie Savage has us finishing 18th with QPR and Swansea below us. Cant believe he sees Norwich and Wigan better than us http://lockerz.com/s/128881128
Plastic Head Posted August 16, 2011 Author Posted August 16, 2011 Keith is having a major impact on Ipswich's season. 0-3 down at home to Southampton.
