[Archived] Allardyce on Kean and Venky's

Would you care to prove otherwise, Densworth?

His return to the Premier League has merely been postponed for twelve months. He'll be back, with a score to settile and he has an outstanding record against his old clubs.

I wouldn't be so sure, but what does that have to do with anything?

As football mangers come, Sam is as straight as a dye and, undeniably, has a superb track record with clubs that have limited resources. Saved us from catastrophe after the Ince debacle, 10th in first full season and, highly likely, would have been repeated in second full season instead of being taken to the brink of relegation in the last game.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Kean say that he'd spoken to Sam after being appointed manager ? Clearly, one of them isn't telling the truth and I know who my money would be on.

IMO, Kean can't be trusted and is just a puppet and yes man. Anyone with a shred of decency would take his punishment like a man and learn from his mistake if allegedly caught drink-driving at about twice the legal limit, instead of the likely charades we will see in court on Monday.

I suspect that even Venky's are rueing the day they hired Kean and Philip might well be right, he might soon be gone.

How strange.

You rate the Venky's and Kean ever so highly, but a man who did well and clearly tried his best at the club and incidentally has forgotten more than the above will ever know receives zero respect from you.

If in the dark ages why has he been re-employed? Crap football? Yet you think we play good football at this time? Complete arse? Egos? Oh dear. This is top level sport, they all have one otherwise they would never have got this far.

Boring, ill-informed and unnecessary comment on something topical today. If you cannot respond with any logic, common sense or reason then why bother?

I don't rate venkys, but I was willing to give them a chance, and Kean deserves a chance also, he is after all the manager of Blackburn Rovers.

“He did well and always tried his best” tell the folk that travelled away week in week out watching abject performances from teams setup not to lose, which they often did, and hardly ever won. We plucked him off the managerial scrap heap, and all he did was moan about lack of funds for transfer, though he took the job on the understanding he’d be working on a shoe strings, then finally last summer he tried to jump ship and leave us in the lurch.

He was reemployed after sitting on his arse for 7 months with no job offers, said he wouldn't manage in the a league below the premiership, then had to eat his words because nobody wanted him, why? Because he plays hoofball, always has done always will do, he a dinosaur.

I’ll spend no more time on West Hams manager, I’m more concerned about Blackburn Rovers, I suggest some of you should do the same.

Gav how naive are you? You really must try to think things through more instead of taking everything at face value.

1. Allardyce like most public figures will be paid for interviews.

and

2. Cultivating good links and contacts within the press and media is a massive plus in his line of work. To help him in his career it's wise to have the press/media on his side not against him.

You make some good points Gordon, can't argue with either.

Well the only way we would know that no other PL club would touch him, was if they all wanted a manager, he was available and he wanted every job. So That's just tripe.

Nor was he forced to drop down a league. So that's tripe as well.

I said your slips showing, because we have Allardyce simply confirming that he believes that Kean stabbed him in the back. As did many posters on here. But how do you approach that? Do you criticise Kean, Kentaro or Venky's? No, you criticise Allardyce.

Says everything really.

Nothing to stop clubs sacking their managers and hiring Allardyce, if he's truly the bee's knees.

Allardyce said himself he was disappointed to receive no interest from the vacant clubs in the summer. You have to ask yourself why he wasn't in the running. Not only last summer but before *we* hired him, as well. Seems strange that such a successful and proven manager would be so unpopular. That was the point I made to Drog about Sam and his media contacts, before you decided to jump in.

Nor was he forced to drop down a league. So that's tripe as well.

Of course he is. He wanted to manage in the PL but couldn't, so he had to compromise.

It's neither here nor there. Football is a cut-throat business. As I said, if Kean was a footballing genius, would anyone be up in arms about how he got the job? Be honest, Den. No one would care. Football fans are as fickle as they come. So long as everything's great on the pitch they don't care what happens behind the scenes. My concern is whether the manager is good enough to take us forward next season, not how he got the job.

But for any manager to come in and improve on 10th was unrealistic surely, especially with having little money to spend??

Yes I agree with those that say that had Kean proved a success then a lot of the stink about his back stabbing would be subsiding.

However, he was not a success in his first half season as a manager and I fear he will not have the tactical nouse to meld a very limited set of playing resources into a PL survival machine.

Most likely his past/current associations will undo him before his continuing inadequacies as a manager destroy what little chance we have of surviving in the Prem this season.

Agree with that Mercerman. It will surely be an interesting day in court. Kean was caught after the Manchester United game. The tradition is for opposing managers to share a bottle of wine post match, in the home managers office. Kean's defence is that his drinks were spiked......surely the prosecution will ask Kean who he believes spiked the drinks. :D .................it wouldn't be an old mate of Sam's would it! :tu:

That's why he would be a genius. :D

But had Kean came in and consolidated our position whilst improving the football, it would have paid off. Fans would be more open-minded and less interested in how he won the job. Since he looks out of his depth, fans are angry.

I had hoped it was time folks began looking forward, but obviously not.

Can any of you say, that during Sam's tenure, you attended every match bar one or two at the most (not you, Parson, the most faithful of all ;))?

If so, you would have called for the rope long ago. I had got to the stage where I was actually seriously wondering how much more I could stomach. Vibrant football my foot. Yes we were in a decent position, etc etc etc etc. But to be fair, could anyone truthfully say they could see him getting on with the owners and/or were entertained by some of the dross we were offered under the name of a game of football?

I did like Sam though strangely enough, and he's not going to go away and shut up.

But I cannot bring myself to wish West Ham well I'm afraid.

Sums up how I feel Mum.

Sam needs to let it go and move on. I find it distasteful that he feels so wronged about fired after receiving a pay out for millions-more than what he was owed when millions of people have lost jobs and received little in payouts.

I like the bloke but his arrogance and way he talks about Rovers is now getting on my nerves.

Phillip, you need to grow up, evil do you know what it means? Would you class Ali Syed as evil?

Oh my god,I'm losing the will to live.

Pointless pointless thread. far too many on here are only happy wallowing in the past like pigs in sh!t.

If you don't get a grip and start to focus on supporting your team then you'll end up culpable in our demise.

As for the Steve Kean is 'evil' gibe....disgraceful and risible, but coming from Philip-not surprising...

As I suggested at the time wiggy it'd likely be the same bloke who indirectly tipped off plod. ;)

So we are not allowed to reflect upon successful times now and must only look forward to the future?

He inherited a poor squad from Ince bereft of confidence just as Hughes did after Souness left. Hughes's football that first season made Allardyces team look like Barca. Hughes then was rewarded with the purse strings opening allowing him to compete more equally, Allardyce was by and large denied that.

How is looking forward in a positive way getting in excuses early??

More like you want to have your cake and eat it. Moan incessantly,be negative and subversive and then if it all goes to rat sh!t can say 'there,i told you all along...'like the cat that got the cream.

I think Kean said this in his "I'm not a backstabber" interview, though my memory could be flawed. But it does appear to be a direct contradiction between Kean and Sam on that fact point.

Pretty much what Philip said, Meaning I agree

When Philip and Glen agree, I pretty much come to the opinion that their joint assertion is fact.

He's gone,get over it ffs...

I decline, thank you.

Do we really need to keep going on about it? I should think every bird and beast on the entire planet is versed on it by now. We cannot change the past.

But we can influence the future. A new season is dawning. The club and the lads need your support.
