Backroom Tom Posted August 13, 2011 Backroom Share Posted August 13, 2011 Was borderline unbearable in the Darwen End too. May contact the club, it was horrible at half time. The worst of it was a touching Ronnie tribute immeaditely into Conan screaming in my ears! Just seen MoTD and Salgado and Dunny are unforgivable for the second goal, real amateur stuff. roverandout
fair enough if i didnt say key player, i meant key player, samba is the only key player we have in defence, nelson, has had alot of injuries, i dont count jermiane jones as hes not here anymore, quite clear we need a top class centrback and a top class striker and need to get rid of kean. broadsword
Emerton picked up a hamstring injury. Christ on a bike, just what we needed! I'm not kidding, should we really have let Super Keef go out on loan?
chris
I still have hopes for Rocinha but he's an incredibly frustrating player. Yes very good ball retention but terrible decision making so far. Tries to take on the whole team too often still. Hopefully this will improve with time since he seems to have some of the raw attributes. tony gale's mic
Problem solves True, I guess spending ages at Barcelona probably wouldnt have helped in that regard.
roverandout
josh fair enough, but myles anderson, as sh*t as he is, is a centrback by trade, nzonzi isnt. Nsonzi looked far to complacent at times today.
Supersimmo
Unlucky today lads. I imagine the result might well have been different had you had that man mountain lining up at CB for you! I think Wolves played pretty well today and, while your boys were good in parts, a number of them looked, well, out of it. You played some very good stuff going forward (when you kept in on the ground) but Salgado had the worst game I've ever seen him have and Olsson went walkabout too often. Good luck for the rest of the season.
roverandout
luck had nothing to do with it super, we were sh*t for most of the game, all huff and no puff, wolves deserved the three points.

daverich
Maybe we could try Bruno at left back for the villa game and free olsson up for the left wing where he is much more effective. Salgado I thought showed his age for the first time in a while today, but bert is now injured so RB may be another problem position, wow we need several players, at least 4 or

BPF
I'm a huge pessimist. You all know that.. However, I'm not devastated about today. A penalty and a depleted defence killed us. The small squad is a result of lack of experience from Venkys. I'm confident that they are going to resolve the situation by September. If they don't, then we are going down. m1st
I thought that, given the squad the manager had at his disposal this afternoon, we didn't do too badly. I also think that a lot of the discussion that's gone on in previous pages on this thread ignores the fact that there will be other clubs in the Premier League in as bad a position, or worse, than us. I don't think that we're going to get cut adrift at the bottom of the table. Having said that, however, I am worried about the imbalance between players recruited and those allowed to go. When I contributed to the early part of this thread and to the request by the Wolves fan for us to contribute to their Board's preview, I couldn't get rid of the thought that our squad seemed very 'thin'. I was also worried this afternoon by the way the manager appeared to do nothing about Roberts who, in the second half, seemed to be trying to provoke the referee into sending him off. I'm also worried about the little things which are symptomatic of shoddiness in the management of the whole enterprise: 1] I was around the ground by 2.45 and couldn't get a programme. Had the club cut back on the print run in anticipation of a lower attendance? 2] Also some of the people sitting near me in the Riverside are probably still waiting for an announcement of Rochina replacing Emerton at half time. It was very good of the club to announce all three of Wolves' substitutions; such a pity they couldn't be bothered to announce all three of Rovers' subs! Little shoddy touches like that, together with the failure to beef the squad up, make me wonder about the direction of the club I've always called This Great Club Of Ours. While I'll always be blue-and-white, it feels like the loyalty which we have on this Board for the club isn't being properly reciprocated by those in charge of it. Silencio
I thought yesterday's game was badly managed on the day but also showed how the long term management of the club has been so poor by Kean. On the day, Kean didn't solve the defensive problems caused by injuries and instead created another by moving our best midfielder to the back. Wolves were cutting through our midfield at will at times and it should be clear that MGP and Dunn is not acceptable as midfield. The lack of options on the bench showed the mess we are in. Why did we need Ribeiro? We have Salgado, Emerson, Henley already there. I wonder if Ribeiro is in because of a connection somewhere. Is Barry Macintosh, Keans mate representing him? It was mentioned that Gunning was released in favour of Anderson, who is older and not as good. Blackman is also never going to be good enough. Darwen Rover
Iv said it sooo many times but we lose soo much when Olson plays LB.. Why not give a youngster a chance there and push Olson to LM.. Hoillett on the right.. Both would terrorise defenders / teams.. United have built 20yrs success on wingers and sometimes average midfielders / strikers... But always cracking CB's
mode_m
Was not a horrible performance but definitely showed that Rovers are lacking defenders, strikers and a core creative midfielder (i dont think dunn can fill this role). really need samba and nelson back in the line up. Bluefudge
Reading all the threads and listening to all the interviews an Jason Roberts on 606, we are from the top down clueless, leaderless but most of all lack the professionalism to get out of what now is one hell of a train crash. SK eyes in the interview said it all, he is way out of his depth, but no one will remove him so what the hell... For me Roberts must just come in, train a little, arrive where and when he is told to and collect his cash, as he knows sod all else about his employers.... Time and time again he knew nothing about anything. He tells us on twitter how fabulous Venkys are but knew nothing of Tom Finn or John Wiiliams ....... neophox
Wasn't so bad, I thought Salgado was shocking and we missed Nzonzi in midfeld as he has to be centreback. I thought we created chances and Nzonzi should had scored. I thought Wolves played well and they will probably go higher in the table this year. have to say Hoilett was not in his best form to threat Wolves as we're being used to. If Samba and Givet been fit i think we should won this 2-0 but here we go again. You have to make sure to have centrebacks in the team. But it was nice to see Petrovic getting his visa and be on the stands and he will make his debut against Villa. Against Villa we will have Samba, Givet, Petrovic and Goodwillie in the start I think. Against Villa: Robinson Emerton, Samba, Givet, Olsson Formica, Nzonzi, Petrovic, Dunn, Hoilett Goodwillie
Roost
Didnt make it to the game yesterday but just sat through Football First. Good Point: David Goodwillie debut - i think he showed some real qualities, and it wont be long before he is on the scoresheet. Bad Points: The whole defence - ok, it may have been patched up, but is that really the best we can do? At times the defending was embarrassing. Steve Kean - his post match interview was sickening to listen to. Excuses, excuses, excuses. Nick Blackman - can anyone explain how this guy is a footballer, let alone a Rovers player? I am not yet as clinically depressed as others on here but If we have less than ten points at the end of september, then it would have to time to part company with SK.
