[Archived] PLAYERS ATTITUDE.

ABBEY

Recommended Posts

I started a thread yesterday which got merged into the wolves one,but i think this needs asking away from that thread.

The players yesterday looked totally unspired yesterday .One of the lads said round us that theres noone pointing ,barking orders or geeing the others up.We 100% lacked a leader yesterday and at the end not ONE player gave the fans any credit.

Have they started taking us fans for granted? have they lost kean? have they lost respect for the owners?

I DONT WANT TO BE NEGATIVE BUT ITS HOW IT IS AT THE MOMENT!

WHY???

There's a really obvious pointing joke in there but I won't go there.

Not sure what was wrong yesterday. The atmosphere between players and fans alike wasn't good.

Once we scored there was a little relief but it was so short-lived, and the disappointment (of the quick equaliser) was crushing. Added to that we save a penalty and still can't keep the ball out of the net.

Perhaps the players are feeling the situation much the same as the fans are - and if they are, we are in real trouble...

Bloody hell Shaun, are you missing Keith Andrews already ???

The leader on that pitch yesterday should have been Roberts and Dunny along with MGP and Emerton. None of them had the bottle to get their team mates going. The second goal should have been cleared, the efforts of Salgado and Dunny as well as the other 3 Rovers players in the line of that shot were pitiful. Not one of them 4 players made a concerted effort to get themselves in front of that ball.

it will be interesting to see what happens this week.

After all its an away game at our favourite haunt, Villa Park where we have conceded how many goals in the past 3 seasons ??

Thats what Samba does, usually.

Without him and Nelsen we have no obvious leader, Roberts tried though.

We had Pedersen, Emerton, Robinson and Salgado who have vast amounts of experience in international football (albeit Robinson would struggle to lead from his position). Dunn has had many years at the top so somebody should have had the balls to take some semblance of control on the pitch. The only time I saw anything that resembled passion was when Salgado and Dunn had a verbal set to in the second half.

If I was led by a flaccid penis I would be demoralized too.

It was the goal again, letting in a clumsy goal and letting the Wolves players get their tails up too much. As soon as that happened I knew we were destined to lose. Our players are lacking in mental toughness and the scrapping mentality we had under Hughes.

Our upcoming matches will do nothing for moral.

I thought it was odd even though we were ok going forward you knew there was no chance of us equalising there just wasn't the drive for it

everyone knows my views on hoofball but when there was 1 minute left we were farting about and not getting it up(when hoofball is justified :) and not one player was screaming to try and get it up and try and equalise ,it was certainly looking like they thought a.cant be arsed b. up yours kean/venkys

None of them strike me as 'leaders' to be honest. Who was actually captain yesterday, I'm ashamed to say I don't know.

Paul Robinson.

Thanks, thats who I thought it must have been. Not a fan of having keeper as captain though, although they can see whats going on in the game better than anyone they'd need a loud speaker to make themselves heard.

Agreed. Although centre backs tend to be a popular choice.

To think it well have been Phil Jones...

It was always going to be interesting to see whether the players were as fit, excited and well prepared as the summer PR offensive had us believe. And more importantly whether they had any confidence as a group.

Yesterday confirmed what we already suspected. Venky's have been guilty of way too many changes, completed way too quickly and the club and the supporters are all over the place. That was a very poor home performance on the 1st day of any season against an average PL team playing away.

As a starting point the club needs uniting and needs a manager we can all trust, believe in and support. It is very rare for our manager not to have the supporters behind them. This problem is the first that needs resolving.

With the margins so small, confidence plays a major part in professional support. In much the same way we viewed under Ince, it is clear the players draw no strength from Kean. Songs mocking Kean are already being sung on the BE lower.

So many poor decisions, over such a short period of time at all levels of management. Laughable. Amazingly injuries are now being touted as our major problem on the first day of the season after 3 months R+R and time to prepare for all eventualities. You could not make it up.

The club is run by amateurs and we are in a mess. Court tomorrow. Sounds about right.

what i saw was a bunch of player not closing down quick enough in midfield, not bothering to track back, a leftwinger looking like a statue and jason roberts running around like a headless chicken and a manager not taking charge from the sidelines.

The answer is pretty simple really, if you have a manager that is nicey nicey when the chips go down the players dont respond, you have to have the correct balance of good cop bad cop and Kean seems to prefer to be nice all the time with the players.

If you bring a manager like Souness you would see the players change straight away and although it may not work in the long run as the players may well get sick of being screamed at but you have to have a mix, horses for courses so to speak.

I did'nt get back from holiday till after 3.30 yesterday and only caught the rest of the game on a dodgy river but even the pundit commented on how bad Olsson's reaction was after he gave the ball away, he just stood still, after he said that the camera panned to Kean and Jenson and Kean looked sympathetic to Olsson where as Jenson was furious, kid gloves wont work for all players.

Yesterday I saw a coach not a manager, I feel that with the defensive problems we had before the match it was always going to be a struggle but a real manager would have got us three points.
