relegation seems a cert.

Relegation is most definitely NOT a cert with teams like Swansea Norwich QPR and Wigan in the Division.

That said the obvious weaknesses in the side, (centre half/strikers) and any unresolved issues (Samba/Givet etc) MUST be sorted before the window slams shut.

It is when they're managerially superior in every way.

It appears a bit that way but the self same players displayed fight in abundance during the last five games of last season and it appeared they were playing for Kean irrespective of any shortcomings he might have.

What could have changed since then?

Samba?

Many suggested that the players got us out of trouble last season, overruled the manager so to say. Could the loss of Samba's leadership be the problem. The manager is a complete amateur and can't possible have the respect of the team. There is no way some of these players look up to him or respect him. Sam was , as a person very dislikable and not exactly the messiah he thought he was, but I'm sure the player knew who was boss. Though he probably told the players how good he was on a daily basis. "Manage Madrid I could, I'm too good for this place, I'd win the fooking lot! I'll show them that long ball football can rule the world!!" hehe ;)

  • Backroom
Blackburn boss Steve Kean after his side's defeat by Aston Villa. (I'm not sure Rovers fans will agree with his assessment of the match): "I'm disappointed with the result but not with how we played. We were controlling the game and went behind to a very good goal. "We approached the game in the right manner and were positive; we were excellent in the second half and played some very good football. That third goal finished us off though."

As per the BBC.

His after match quotes are as bad if not worse than Ince's in their delusion. Please, please sack him, Venky's.

4-4-2 my backside.

Tactically pathetic.

Didn't see today's game but if you have 3 or 4 individuals not performing to an acceptable standard every week (say Dunn Pedersen Salgado and Hanley) it doesn't matter what system or formation you're trying to play.

You can maybe carry one or two players off colour. Not 3 , 4, or 5.

I am numb. It really does feel like Groundhog Day at this stage.

Tune in to Soccer Saturday at 5:30 every week to see a dry-mouthed Steve Kean trying to spin positives from a deserved defeat - with no-one directly asking him about his truly awful managerial record.

Scrub that "numbness" - I feel sick.

Disappointed to say the least. Looks like samba wants to go. I do not believe that he is injured. Anyway that wasn't my point. Just wondering why keen decided to go 442 away against villa knowing that he had Hanley in defence and no pace at right back. Surely the best option would have been 451. With a DM protecting the back four. We need players quickly and need some leadership from the bench.

I think we played wonderfully and will easily make Champions League this season and Steve Kean and the Raos are wonderful human beings.

There you go- that saves cruz/imy9/all the other happy clappies from needing to post.

I don't do personal but you sir are becoming a cretin of the highest order.

If you know stuff grow a set and do something about it, otherwise stfu and stop adding me to your pathetic rants, especially when I respond you do what I expect which is not respond.

You're deluded fella. There are no positives.

1 positive.. petrovic looked decent when he came on. unlike nzonzi, seems radosav plays with his head up, also runs forward and looks box to box.

felt sorry for nelsen today. clearly not fit.. but he was needed.

hanley - if im being kind.. he still looks shaky and needs time to get used to prem football. sadly, at the moment, i dont think we can afford to give him time.

salgado - tried hard, but starting to look his age. badly at fault for the 1st goal. hope its just a bit of rustyness but..

olsen - NOT A LEFT BACK.. we need one! :angry2:

Junior - hid in the 1st half.. looked bright in the 2nd. brilliant run and cross for the goal.

the midfield - as a collective, were shocking defensively.. no pressure and no protection for the back 4.

roberts - crap. spent most of his time wide.. hardly ever in the box- unless he was wrestling! looked his livliest when substituted.. :angry2: did he leave the pitch at 4:30 to get to the BBC birmingham studios! :glare:

goodwillie - ran his heart out.

in summary.. 3 poor goals. gifts. we must be the slowest premier league team. lack of pace, invention and creativity. most worrying was.. for most of the game.. there was a clear a lack of spirit and belief.

still dont think we'll get relegated, but all the players signed in this window are going to have to be quality and hit the ground running. otherwise.. we'll struggle and be too close for comfort. :(

That simply wasn't good enough and that interview nearly caused my telly to get caved in with my brew mug

The only positives I can take from this:

We scored a goal

Petrovich looked good

Saved some space on my Sky+ Box

Owners may have taken note?

(I know, I'm reaching now...)

I agree with most of what you said there Zac. Kean talked about a better brand of football but to me we were void of: shape, game plan, leadership and general style of play. Salgado is now a liability, regardless of past performances. I believe that a experienced manager could be the difference though.

Kean must go.
