He did not blame the fans. He said he left the glass unattended several times whilst he spoke to fans.

He was wrong to try and wriggle out of the fact that he was over the limit but he did not blame fans.

So, based on what he said, in court, who was he blaming?

Kean has brought Blackburn Rovers Football Club into disrepute. Like it or not, in the absence of any Chairman, Managing Director or Chief Executive and with absentee owners, HE is the public face of Rovers and by his actions he has besmirched our good name which was once widely respected. By driving intoxicated at 90 mph down the motorway whilst at the same time conversing on his mobile phone, he recklessly endangered the lives of innocent members of the public. To then show no remorse whatsoever but instead to repeatedly deny responsibility for his actions and to lie repeatedly to the police and to the Court whilst seeking to shift the blame onto others, is such a public display of moral turpitude that, in my opinion, it could amount to gross misconduct and thereby justify summary dismissal without notice.

He should probably have been sacked for footballing reasons months ago. In fact, he never should have been given the job in the first place ! His record is abysmal and shows no sign of improvement.

However, if Rovers have anyone left in place who is capable of conducting a fair disciplinary hearing, he should be dismissed on the grounds of gross misconduct as this would minimise the risk of Kean successfully bringing claims for damages for wrongful dismissal and/or compensation for unfair dismissal.

There is, of course, always the possibility that Kean could be successful with such a claim but I feel that it would be a price worth paying to get rid of him.

Voted sacked but for footballing reasons.

He has committed a crime, he has been charged and sentenced in a court of law- a punishment has been handed out, end of.

Kean has let a lot of people down but based on results he should not be manager of Blackburn Rovers FC.

Regardless of whether Kean is the man for Rovers or not, he doesn't deserve such treatment.

Using the drink driving offence to get him out is pathetic. Would you be saying the same if BFS was in the same position?

He broke the law and like many others has been caught and punished. He shouldn't lose his job over this.

I wonder how many on this board have pushed the limit on a night out and gotten away with it. More than a few I suspect

I find the other 14% difficult to comprehend but await to hear their reasoned debate.

I have voted no though I have done so in a rather immoral fashion. I feel it would be best from a footballing perspective to keep him on as I'm not sure whether Venkys have the structure at the club or wherewithal to replace him. This coupled with the fact I don't think there are any managers who would take the position.

Steve Kean is a long way from being a decent manager but he is about our only option. I don't in anyway condone what he did but he is being punished and I'm glad he was found guilty. I am choosing to turn a blind eye in respect to his job as manager as I think we have no other option. I am sure had Kean led us on a sublime run into Europe last year many others would take that stance to.

The teams performance and peoples general opinion the man is a key factor in many of the simply sack due to the verdict votes.

I don't get this 'he's our only option' thing - any of the non-Premiership English league managers would surely jump at the chance to come to Ewood?

What about those out of work and being offered a good salary & route back into the Premiership?

Hell, Tony Parkes would be a considerably better option right now and there's no way he'd turn us down.

Goodwillie was found Not Guilty, very very important distinction that. Kean plead guilty (after pleading not guilty and mistaking when the season started, ensuring (intentionally or otherwise) he was convicted during the season) THEN admitted he lied to the police at the time of the arrest THEN said he believe that 2.5 glass of wine and a bottle of bud where within the legal alcohol limit.

The others, frankly, yes.

Hmm, is it really though? When a footballer can spend hundreds of thousands of pounds on his lawyer and some random member of the public can't, do you really think justice has a good chance of being done? Steven Gerrard and the DJ for example? Maybe lightning has just struck a completely innocent guy twice and he didn't kick the **** out of some guy in Glasgow and rape someone. I more than have my doubts personally.

You're saying then that you'd sack any Rovers player or manager who committed an offence? Its a noble attitude but it'd certainly put you at a severe disadvantage in the shady world of football.

Seems to me that if a guy has done something wrong but he's playing/managing well, the fans couldn't give a damn. But if he's doing a poor job suddenly his personal infraction becomes totally abhorrent. Sack him on his management ability by all means but this witch-hunt on the basis of a DUI charge is totally inconsistent reasoning from what I can see.

Voted other because that in my eyes means don't care.

It's not going to happen and never will and whatever we all say won't make any difference whatsoever. It's getting to the point now where we are grasping at every straw, next to nothing has been true which we've read in the redtops, watched on television or listened to on the radio.

I truly think nobody has a clue what's going on, so really can't be bothered letting it get to me anymore

I hope to God you never have anything to do with the legal system, but seriously, he's famous and paid for a good lawyer, so he must be guilty. Plus I don't see the connection, SK is famous, paid for the best lawyer in the field and still not only ended up pleading guilty, but was also caught out lying and wasting a huge amount of time (and trying for more) and come up with a nonsensical plea (2.5 glasses of wine and a bud, which he admits to, would put probably put most people over the limit anyway).

You're saying then that you'd sack any Rovers player or manager who committed an offence? Its a noble attitude but it'd certainly put you at a severe disadvantage in the shady world of football.

Whilst representing the club (he was driving home from a club event, which I believe still counts), if it was a non trivial offence. Yes. It seems Ben Goodman got sacked (rightly in my eyes) for far less, one of the most prominent stewards a few years ago (Riaz ?), I believe got sack for nothing to do with the club (serious stuff I'm told, but no connection to the club). It happens all the time. Disrepute and misconduct clauses are written into contracts for a reason!

... assuming that isn't addressed to other people (despite quoting me) then I believe my original statement explains that it isn't the case. Sure, I have other reasons for wanting rid (and I'm sure one day they'll come out), but this isn't a witch hunt based on my views of him as a football manager, they are based on my views of him as a human being.

As Gav said, if he'd have held his hands up when he was stopped, then fair enough, I'd have a little sympathy for him, but to lie to the police (he said he hadn't been drinking, he later admitted he had), to (possibly, either that or he's stupid) lie to the first judge, to drag this out unnecessarily, not just for an unnecessary day in court, but unnecessary turmoil at the club at a time when it least needs it (the first judge aimed to have this cleared up before the start of the season, Keans "error" made sure that didn't happen) and then try for more time. He's either very selfish or very stupid.

Not for one second should he be sacked over Drink Driving but I am disgusted with his feeble 'Spiked' claim. Stand up and take your punishment like a man. Typifies the blame culture very much evident across the country in the last week.

Also fits right in with the weaselly way he acquired the job.

Pussy.

To waste a valuable day when he himself has admitted that we are desperate for FOUR new players has also made me somewhat annoyed.

But then again, there isn't going to be anybody worthwhile coming in, is there??!!??
