i can count!! you have quoted my question but failed to answer ????

Sorry, I didn't realise that you had addressed it to me.

He is an ambassador for the club, a spokesperson for what Rovers are which is first and foremost A FAMILY FOOTBALL CLUB, not only that he sets the tone for how the players react in the public eye, lying to the police, making stories up to the judge and actualy drink driving.

I think it would be fair to dissmiss him on these grounds alone.

Without the drink driving conviction that could easily be Sir Alex Ferguson, Knight of the Realm that you are talking about. :D

Could this court case be the simple reason why things are moving so slowly at our club? Maybe the owners dont want him to splash their cash as they have been advised that he is going to be convicted of drink driving.

Its just a thought Ive had since yesterday

Doubt it mate.. things have been running slow for a long while now.. hell they must of known about getting rid of the board from near enough day 1 (or at least the day JW left).. took them over 6months to ship out the last of em.

I do wonder if this convition though had a negative impact on sponsors, after all the two of the big ones rumoured to be interested in us both happened to be drinks companies.. Manager convicted of drink driving after admiting to drinking bud is not really the sort of advertisement the likes of kingfisher and cobra would of wanted.

Ok so they sack him. Then what? Put Jensen in charge? There appears to be no available exit strategy in place, no chain of command that can do the job.

And who would be good enough and daft enough to work for the Venkys now?

An unsackable boss, who lies in court, and just got a criminal record, and has one of the worst results records in modern Rovers history, with a paper thin squad and no apparent management structure capable of taking the bull by the horns and dealing with all these problems.

Absolute chaos at Rovers, and I can only see one outcome come May next year.

Kean cannot and should not be sacked for drink driving UNLESS his job specifically requires him to hold a driving licence. I have to drive to do my work and would expect to be sacked if I could nit attend appointments through my own fault.

TBH those calling for Kean to be dismissed for the DD offence are wrong. If we are talking football that would be another discussion.

I think this poll and thread is at best unfortunate. I'm surprised it's been posted.

I think the job requires the man to have some integrity and the judge all but called him a liar.

Add that to the underhand way he got the job (which the dreamers in Pune are clearly ignoring)

Add that to the fact that a DUI conviction is a serious matter and will undoubtedly impinge on his mobiity and ability to do the job

Add that to the fact he is associated with an agent the Venky's now regard with utter contempt

Add that to the fact that the biggest issue we now have is attracting players and Kean has all the attraction powers of a mess on the carpet now that he cannot use his side kick Anderson

And round off with the fact his results record is worse than Ince...

And every day that goes by without him being fired the more trouble Venky's are storing up for themselves with the fans and the more certain they will have to write off the money they put into buying Rovers down to zero.

The vast majority of supporters can see this but of course the Venky's are simply too far out of their depth to even understand the mess they are in.

If I was drinking during my working day I'd be fired, simple.

Not AFTER it though surely Ricky?

Lets all stop moralising it's pathetic. The most important thing that matters to us and this club is that he is a sh1t manager. Full stop!

Ap[art from that he's also working for clueless owners who don't appear to have as much wherewithall behind them to committ as they initially claimed or rather as Barclays initially thought.

Been away for the last week. Thought I'd logged on to the wrong site yesterday. There seems to have been a massive negative response to the situation at Ewood. Missed the wolves game, but by all accounts it appears as though we were v.poor. No surprise there really - this is a pitifully poor squad. I know we had three centre halves out, but in the past we could have coped better. Nissa, Kishi, Lucas Neill all could do a job. The telling thing to me was the bench on the first game of the season. No way this current squad can stay up.

Anyway, seeing that this is a SK thread, would I sack him because of his drink driving conviction? Well I have no evidence that the club would be legally within their rights to do that, so I would have to say no. However Venky's certainly might have legal redress to that conviction and might see it very differently.

I have said all along that SK talks crap about the way he sees the club going - and I personally can't accept that. To some it didn't matter, but to me it certainly did. Thing is, we can now see that along with talking crap, he's a liar. He lied to the police and he lied to the judge.

problem is, we have a manager who is quite happy to lie if he thinks he can bluff his way out of a situation - and we have owners who are quite happy to lie as well.

It's a sad, sad situation and it's getting more and more absurd.

Andy Cryer's comments in the LT criticising the fact that we fell apart on Saturday with only four players missing just underlines how massive a failure Steve Kean is as a manager.

If you subscibe to the theory that the LT is the voice of Ewood on earth, it also probably points to the fact Kean is right on the edge of being sacked today.

With 400 votes cast or 2.5% of the Rovers arttendance on Saturday, Kean has only 15% of the fans not saying sack now. That is 10% WORSE than the backing Ince had on the day he got sacked.

If Venky's sack him today, they will signal that they really are learning and wising up and stand a far better chance of beginning to win over the fans.

It's a quirk of the software and not one on I'm fond of. I was also pilloried last night for strongly expressing my own opinion (rather than 'the sites' which is strictly neutral). So I many go back to using an alias for my own thoughts.

Only if the rest of us are allowed one too.

In the interests of fairness of course :)

Indeed Den. The board is full of people criticising Kean for lying today yet seemingly the same people have no criticism of the Venkey mob lying to us on a regular basis since Nov10.

I think Kean is so bad, we should just get rid now without a replacement lined up.

Who was Sam's Assistant, who managed us whilst he was in hospital having that Op? sorry can't remember his name. Although we sung it at Bolton:-)

He is still the MOST valid point BS made when he got sacked.

Do you really think Kean is going to be sacked today ? I certainly don't.

Sacking Kean will require the owners to pay up his contract - and they have already had to pay £x millions to get rid of Sam. I don't think it's generally understood how little money the owners are prepared to spend on Rovers. They have made the decision that Kean is the manager - and they will stick with him unless / until he resigns.

Depends how much relegation will cost (nett) and how much they will off load for once the assets have been liquidised. They'll be counting their beans as we speak no doubt.

If we don't put an other, people just moan about their particular viewpoint being excluded.

Goodwillie was found Not Guilty, very very important distinction that. Kean plead guilty (after pleading not guilty and mistaking when the season started, ensuring (intentionally or otherwise) he was convicted during the season) THEN admitted he lied to the police at the time of the arrest THEN said he believe that 2.5 glass of wine and a bottle of bud where within the legal alcohol limit.

The others, frankly, yes.

Actually Goodwillie was not found Not Guilty, the case was dropped due to "insufficient evidence in law", and there was talk of a civil case becoming a possibility.Kean is in the wrong, but the case against him as a manager of BRFC should be a footballing matter.

Someone showed me an article in the newspaper this morning that said Kean was driving back to his family home in the South East when he was stopped. Does this mean he drove to training/matches every day from down South - or does anyone know if he spends most of his time up here? At least now he'll be able to have a couple of cans on the long train journey to work and not worry about being pulled over.
