Kamy100 Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 LONDON (August 11th, 2011) – Sports Interactive Ltd. & SEGA® Europe Ltd. today unveiled the latest version of their successful football management simulation series, Football Manager™ 2012. Planned to be in stores before Christmas, Football Manager 2012 will once again allow you to take charge of your favourite football team and put your managerial skills to the test. The award-winning Football Manager series has now sold in excess of 7 million copies worldwide and has topped the UK and many European PC charts for the last seven years, with over 108 weeks at no.1 in the UK to date. “We’re delighted to finally be able to start talking about Football Manager 2012” said Miles Jacobson, Studio Director at Sports Interactive. “It’s another year of evolution, with some revolution thrown in for good measure so we’re pretty sure our dedicated communities, and hopefully lots of new people too, get to play and enjoy the game when it’s released later in the year.” Counting over 800 new features, not including changes to the rules of the games 50+ leagues, Football Manager 2012 promises to be the most realistic, immersive and playable football management simulation ever for any fan who has ever dreamed of making the big decisions, both on and off the field. Key new & improved features for Football Manager 2012: Transfers & Contracts – significant changes to the transfer and contract systems, including loyalty bonuses, better implementation of amateur and youth contracts, an improved transfer centre and the ability to lock areas of the contract negotiation when you aren't prepared to budge. This helps you to manage your budgets and gives you flexibility in what you offer money hungry players, or agents, as incentives. Scouting improvements – using several real life scouting reports, a new in-game report has been devised which includes squad analysis, tactics information and information about goals scored and conceded alongside lots of other scouting improvements, giving you all the information you need to prepare before kick-off and throughout the season. 3D Match Improvements – new animations, a whole new crowd system, improved weather system, more stadiums, plus two brand new cameras - "Behind Goal" and "Director Cam" as well as all other camera angles being reversible - meaning you can watch and analyse every aspect of every game. Manage Anywhere, Anytime – the ability to add or take away playable nations in your saved game as often as you want. Manage in that country at the start of the next season- meaning you don’t have to stay in the nations which are chosen by you to be playable at the start of your career. Tone – a whole new level has been added to team talks and conversations, with the new tone system, which allows you to specify the way you want to say things – be as cool as a cucumber by saying things calmly or throw tea cups around by saying things with passion. There are 6 different tones to choose from with specific comments per tone. Intelligent Interface – a new adaptive layout system, which means the higher your screen resolution, the more info is easily at your fingertips. The new interface also contains new filters, customisable columns, a new tactics screen, and lots of new overview screens. Brand New Tutorial – standing separate from the main game, a mode to help new players find their way around the game easily, whilst also offering tips to experienced managers on how to get the most out of the game, as well as a new in-game “how to” system. On top of these key innovations, there are lots of areas of the game that have had huge improvements, such as the media system, press conferences, the youth system, newgens, the social networking options, friendlies, international management and many more which will be detailed in a series of video blogs over the coming months, alongside more information about Football Manager 2012. Wolverine Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Thanks Kamy - looking good, so may buy this year round!
BangkokRover Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Dam I am still playing FM2010 as I have not won the CL with Rovers Best I better hurry up, can't be 2 versions behind.
LeChuck Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 I've never understood why they can't have this ready for the new season. "Planned to be in stores before Christmas" - the excitement of a new season will be long gone by then, I'm sure they'd sell more if they released it around now.
cmb211087 Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 If they did, the database would be the same as fm11
Eddie Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Releasing it now would be impossible, but realistically they should be able to do it by the end of September and have in stores by the time that most football games come out.
BangkokRover Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Don't most people wait for at least the first patch? Normally the game is not in the greatest shape when it first comes out.
BangkokRover Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Football Manager 2012 will be released for PC and Mac on 21st October 2011, Sega and Sports Interactive have announced.
Backroom DE. Posted September 21, 2011 Backroom Posted September 21, 2011 If you want FM 2012 you'll have no choice but to install steam. You can't play the game without it, and you can't install the game without the internet. Controversial.
BiggusLaddus Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 They did that a few yrs ago and were roundly slated for it. Seems they didn't learn their lesson after all.
Backroom DE. Posted September 21, 2011 Backroom Posted September 21, 2011 It won't stop me buying FM12 but I don't think it's right to force people to install third-party software to install FM. I've already got steam installed (don't use it, mind) so it won't affect me... but I think plenty of others will be put off by the idea. Ultimately FM will only be available online and the disc version will sadly be obsolete - I think this decision is one step towards that.

You can still use the offline mode of steam (i think) without internet
Backroom DE. Posted September 22, 2011 Backroom Posted September 22, 2011 Yeah, you can. I'm not personally bothered but it seems to have caused a massive backlash on the SI forums. Guess people don't like change. Can't blame SI/SEGA for trying to combat piracy, it's far too easy nowadays to steal games for free. Steam can be cracked by pirates but not until the actual release date - SI had problems in the past of the game being leaked early due to certain countries like Russia getting the game earlier than other areas of Europe, so people would download that version and pre-orders would get cancelled. Using Steam should at the very least solve that issue.
BangkokRover Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 I am sure people do pirate FM but the sales numbers are also very high. Normally I wait for a review or two before looking at the forums as something is nearly always wrong with the game and it requires patching. Once the patch is out then again check out the forums to make sure things are now stable then I am happy to hand over my cash. It was either FM 09 or 10 that was completely broken when released and did not work till the 2nd or 3rd patch. So I have done the above since then.
cmb211087 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 The thing with it is, is that they release the game when we as Beta testers are not happy with it, instead of delaying release for a few weeks, its a pain in the ass because on the forums we get all the grief because the testers should have found it (9/10 we do, it just doesn't get fixed in time). As for the steam thing, the majority I have spoken to about it are fine with it, the ones who pirate are not, weird that.

Backroom DE. Posted September 23, 2011 Backroom Posted September 23, 2011 I didn't buy FM11 until the 3rd patch came out this year. Was still enjoying FM10 and to be honest I don't want to create a good tactic, a good team, then firstly find my game riddled with bugs and then secondly finding my tactics aren't anywhere near as effective when the patches are released (FM10 experience, coupled with the activation farce it really wasn't good, I actually went back to playing FM09 for some time after I bought FM10).
Seggie Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Got a new job, got 2nd year of uni, new bird, this means no sleep
Baz Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Got a new job, got 2nd year of uni, new bird, this means no sleep Your saying that like its a bad thing? Seriously, this is the best time of your life.
brfcjon Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 You might wanna drop either the job or fm - and get some time for a few more birds.
Beta Ray Bill Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Steve Kean: talented young manager. Someone is having a laugh. I stopped managing Rovers in previous versions as I start off crap and don't like seeing us struggle even in games. However, its probably the only chance to get him out in any reality!
