Simon played well. Must admit l actually cheered when the equaliser went in. Thats how disassociated with the England team l feel right now. Never been right since the World Cup debacle.

This guy must start v QPR. He's not as lightweight like some of the younger lads that play in "the hole".

Looks a decent player with fair amount of skill.

However, looks a tad overweight and like Formica, Petra & Goodwillie, lacks pace - probably why with us and not a 'bigger' club.

Seems like he prefers to play 'in the hole' - how many do we need ?

Not sure if he has the stamina or inclination to track back if playing out wide.

Certainly should have played instead of Goodwillie against City.

But Kean won't have watched this game as he will be too wrapped up in his own Bollywood farce to notice. Moreover, he will have seen the Venky's Chief Apologist score two goals in the pointless Indian match and he'll make room for him.

He won't though will he.

Probably not.. hell out of all the signings we made this summer he was the one I thought might make it, more mature, more experienced and a regular international.. instead we have stuck with Goodwillie, Rochina, Formica, Petrovic et al even playing people out of position in his spot.. madness.

Edit: He also looks like a decent impact style player.. so why Kean has made limited subs when he was available on the bench is beyond me

what did people think of him today?

You can see he has talent but is he slow?

He probably needs time to adapt to the pace (I'm not a hater) has anyone seen him at previously clubs, does he have any pace?

It's very difficult for winger that don't have pace unless they are exceptional at crossing to a Beckham par.

But then it's difficult to judge players when they're not instructed properly.

Exactly, it's difficult to judge ANY of the new signings when they've got Kean as a manager. Potential worldies like Jones will shine regardless, but potentially decent/good players completely new to England and the Premier League are always going to struggle under somebody as clueless and deluded as Steve "the owners are 100% behind me" Kean.

Hoilett and Olsson to wait around for Kean to tell them how to play, Simon's got to make it happen.

He saw enough of the ball had little responsibility and didn't do anything but give the ball away in danagerous areas.

Perhaps he should have been instructed better then!

As for Hoilett and Olsson - despite being our best player Hoilett never tracks back, putting the fullback on his side under severe pressure in almost every match, and Olsson hasn't been anywhere near as effectual as he should be.

In terms of the new signings it all comes back to the manager in the end. if the players just aren't good enough he shouldn't have bought them!

I think Kean is living off the Hughes/Sam squad, none of the newbies and been at the level of old.

Why an arguably successful senior international player bought to the club for 3 million pound has not gotten the chance to play more than a few games(in which he scored a couple as well) is beyond me.

Despite the fact that he has a wealth of experience playing as winger, having significant footballing ability in both the technical and finishing department, Kean opted to play an inexperienced youngster in Marcus Olsson instead. Simon didn't even make the bench for a majority of games!

Anyway, I believe he would have made a difference given the chance.

Question is, will he stay?

I hope so, he is an older head and with the average age of our team next season he will surely be needed and often

I've been impressed by Dann and Formica, though. But are they really Kean's signings anyway? Who knows what goes on behind the scenes?

Strangely we're now missing a defensive tough tackler in midfield as we do seem to have the creative element there. But you can't build a team with an unsound defence and I think the midfield is a big part of that problem.

Impressed by Dann? Are you kidding me? Worst center back at club since Amoruso I'd say. Not only do I see it with my eyes, but the stats prove it too!

But I can't fathom why Simon would want to stay given the few games he played... unless lighting strikes from clear blue sky and Kean get replaced with a decent manager.

And surely an international player would want to play in the top divisions?
