It's going to be a really facinating battle to see who gets the starting berths. At present we have left wing/right wing/second striker to divvy up between Hoilett, Olsson (looked so good at LW yesterday surely he has to start there?), Rochina, Formica, Vukcevic and Goodwillie. Lots and lots of competition for places, even before Pedersen and Dunn are considered.

He did look like a big lad and I did wonder with his physicality if he could play a deeper role.....?

He put a superb tackle in near the end.

At one time he turned his man so easily on the edge of the box but seemed reluctant to shoot

Might want to sit Rochina a bit., Don't get me wrong I like him but he needs to learn when to pass, ran himself into trouble a few times, it will come with experience I don't think we should give him too much too fast.

So out of interest, how on earth didn;t he learn this at Barcelona of all places?

I hope its a maturity thing, but he has to stop, talk about shooting yourself in the foot, he has huge potential but I think its a big problem.

I assume it is, I think he may just be trying to hard to please, it at least shows he has confidence in his own abilities, the trick is to get him to do the other stuff without taking away his killing that side of his game. Like I said I do like the kid. He just needs a little tinkering to make it in the English game.

Thought he had a decent debut, looked good on the ball, had his head up, turned a couple inside out, has a bit of pace and got stuck in.

Looking forward to seeing a bit more of our Simon!

Just broke Phil Jones' ankles. Looking great on the ball early on.

that wasn't him fluffing the clearance that led to the goal was it? Showed some nice touches thus far anyway.

a welcome distraction from the pune fiasco anyway

Martin Tyler not daft eh?

"He's avoided the trip to India which I'm sure his clubmates are enjoying!" I believe the young folk would say LOL

Tyler said the word avoid then paused a bit and said which I am sure they are enjoying.

Nearly set up a goal there, nice ball through to the striker. Seen them decisions given as a pen.

Whats this about breaking Phil Jones' leg?

he didn't mean it literally, Vukcevic made him fall on his arse by dribbling past him

As a non-Sky viewer, I'd made my mind up to support Montenegro tonight anyway. At least they've picked one of our current players, as opposed to England picking one of our "rejects"! ;)

to think we played an unfit goodwillie in midfield instead of him :blink:

I thought it was ironic in Kean's post-match interview vs. City, when he said Goodwillie didn't get to the ball quick enough for City's opening goal.

Maybe that's 'cause he was unfit and out of position?

Derp.

this lad has to start. Fair enough he flits in and out of the game but he can make things happen plus he doesn't throw himself on the floor at every opportunity.

Interesting seeing him playing on the right for his country, yet Kean played him on the left against Orient.

I wonder if he might be a natural replacement for Hoilett (with a proper manager in charge of course).

EDIT: just been involved in the equaliser!
