LeChuck Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Looks powerful in the air and very determined on that video. Does anyone know anything about him? Wiki says he can play defensive midfield. If he can do a decent job there then he might play quite a few games this season (if we sign him).
Nelsta Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Reminds me of Mat Hummels, if he's half as good as Hummels then we've got a cracking player.
CaliRoverNYC Posted August 18, 2011 Author Posted August 18, 2011 I don't think he'll get pushed around in the Prem, Very strong and physical... my friends that watch more MLS than I do are excited about him possibly lining up next to Samba.
braddock Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 George John, Paul (Robinson) and Pedersen can be Ringo.
brian_gallagher85 Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Looks quite pacey and quite comfortable on the ball and isn't afraid to use the old "if in doubt fu#k it out" technique. I love that "challenge" at 4:46

Baz Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Will he get a work permit due to Greek Heritage? One for now or future?
rogerjonesgloves Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 George John, Paul (Robinson) and Pedersen can be Ringo. ouch!
CaliRoverNYC Posted August 18, 2011 Author Posted August 18, 2011 Will he get a work permit due to Greek Heritage? One for now or future? permit not a problem as he has greek passport, id say he is one for now though he would need the normal premier league adjustment time.
tchocky Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Good vibes about this one. Lets hope it comes off.
Hughesy Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Linked by Kamy?? No linked by me, via Steve Kean

Hughesy Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Sorry Hughesy my bad... Just teasing.....looks a decent prospect, just hope he is another than can make the step up from American footy to premier league
Exiled_Rover Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Here's what the FC Dallas fans think of him and the potential transfer.
mjwood00 Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 How much are we paying or is he out of contract?
roverthepond Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 With that we would also look at his teammate brek Shea.
beerwins Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Cant really say a lot about this guy because I have'nt seen him play but a few things you can see from his videos look quite promising, His determination as someone posted earlier looks very good, he looks a force in the air, his positional sense looks good and seems to time his tackles very well, but the one thing that stood out for me was him staying on his feet and using his body to force them away from goal. Of course this may be all good and well if he cant make the step up to the prem but one thing is for sure he certainly looks to have all the basics a good centre half needs, may well be a really good find in respects to him only having one year left on his contract and the fact that he can apply for a greek passport so no probs for a permit. Will be keeping my fingers crossed for this chap as I have a good feeling about him.
mhead Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Hey Rovers....check the Database for people called 'John". Could pay him from Shirt Sales. Hey Rovers....check the Database for people called 'John". Could pay him from Shirt Sales.
Billy Castell Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 If he turns out like our last MLS defender, we should be happy. No idea how good he may be, but you sometimes find real quality in the more unusual places. P.S. Does he have a cousin called Paul Ringo?
Hughesy Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 How much are we paying or is he out of contract? Out of contract in 2012 according to U.S reports

Beerwins, Some of the lads I had in my youth team went out to the States on Soccer scholorships, they all say the same things, tackling is frowned upon and the Refs over there seem to blow up for any contact, Ben Callan ( Rishton lad) will verify that, he played over there for New Orleans along with Stopforth, ex Rovers reserve skipper. Anyone know those lads will tell you much more about the physical side of the game in the USA!
Backroom Tom Posted August 18, 2011 Backroom Posted August 18, 2011 I thought Kamy said it was a defender under 21 and one over 30, is this an additional one or are the others not happening?
Fylde Coast Fan Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Never heard of him, but the reactions of Dallas fans and the positive reports from people who have leave me hopeful that we've found another Ryan Nelsen.

Well it sounds the perfect sort of training to prepare players for the prem then, diving in is the worst thing any defender can do and I am always amazed when any player does it (Salgado V Wolves being most recent) I have always played football as a defender for maybe 20 years only at amatuer level but always prided myself on making it impossible for my marker to pass me or get a shot away by simply just keeping myself goalside. The prem league is fast becoming non contact and any defender who has already trained in the way they teach in the states would probably have a step up for playing in the prem.
