AxesFirstTouch Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 To be fair, anyone with a clue would have known Craig would have been an excellent bond if they'd seen Layer Cake. Still prefer Roger moore and his Bond comedy lines. Quote

cletus Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Denzel Washington`s new film Deja Vu is out next month, but i think i`ve seen it somewhere before?? Quote
Rovermatt Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 I saw Casino Royale last night. I have to say I was impressed. It was far superior to the last couple of ghastly attempts. The stripped down, brutal edge was far more welcome than invisible cars and giant ice palaces. Graig himself was utterly superb. He's not stupidly good-looking and has an air of menace reminiscent of Connery (and to a lesser extent Timothy Dalton). The plot was solid save for the last 10 minutes which made no sense at all. Flopsy Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 she took the money for Mr White and his employers - its simple Im a big fan of the Bond series and its campness - but this film was utterly awesome - I think the next film will be more like the previous (ie a bit more gadgets, Q, etc) but will be more serious and less silly. The Bourne franchise should be appluaded for reinventing the Bond franchise. and Craig will now need a few more films to make the role his own, but he's done a very good start. I got to sit and rev an Aston DB-S on friday night - all I can say is that its lucky that it had leather seats Quote
rog of the rovers Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 I watched James Bond last night as well and must agree with what has been said a great film and a shot in the arm for the Bond franchise, It will be interesting to see where they go from here. Quote
AxesFirstTouch Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 Have any of our Norwegian friends seen the film 'Uro' ? last saw Roy Chubby Browns 'Kick arse chubbs'. Chubbs on fine form Quote
Ronin Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 Now seen Casino Royale - pretty good film, and quite a different feel for a Bond film. Right from the off, with the Black & White intro before the opening credits, it's definitely more gritty. You wouldn't know it's a Bond film. Looking forward to the next one. Quote
Daremz Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 Saw 'The Departed' last week - top class cast, but is it a top-class movie...? Yes! It's an aboslutely marvellous piece of work, the story, the characters and the action. It's just cult! Really really go there if you have the chance! Bit bloody, but every single big-gun in the movie is just amazing. Especially good old Jackie N. plays magnificent. Must-see! Quote
Rovermatt Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 I saw The Prestige last night. Absolutely bloody amazing. Quote
herbergeehh Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 Have any of our Norwegian friends seen the film 'Uro' ? Yes, I've seen it. Decent film, not spectacular, but decent. Quote
Radagast Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 Gerry Butler is hilarious. "Madness? THIS! IS! SPAR! TA!" Can't wait. Quote
Flopsy Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 just ordered the "coffee table" version of the graphic novel Quote
Rovermatt Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 It's great-though be prepared to see many squiggly renderings of the male organ. Apparently Spartan warriors did their killing in the nude... Anyway, it has numerous testosterone filled lines like: 'One hundred thousand nations of the Persian empire descend upon you! Our arrows will blot out the the sun!' 'Then we shall fight in the shade...' Great stuff. Quote

Biddy Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 Just finished watching Rocky Balboa (very slow day at work) and it was actually very entertaining. I recommend it for anyone that liked the original films. Quote
Radagast Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 Robots in disguise. Grumble grumble...Michael bloody Bay...break my childhood memories will you... Quote
Rovermatt Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 (edited) To be honest can you see any other director apart from Michael Bay making a film based on a loud, multi-coloured cartoon about robots turning into trucks and blowing stuff up? Just thank God it wasn't Brett Ratner. Edited December 22, 2006 by Rovermatt Quote

Paul Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 I finally got to see Borat last weekend. TBH I was disappointed and I don't really see what all the fuss was about. Yes there were some wonderfully funny moments, I have friends who would be quite disgusted and po faced that I laughed loudly at some of the cringingly funny jokes, but hey that's life. It's in no worse taste than some of the "Ipswich" jokes doing the rounds. Overall the film is not especially funny, I had expected almost a laugh a minute, but does do an excellent job of pointing a finger at many aspects of our society, and not just America. I belong to a film club, we meet monthly, and I won't be making Borat my choice to show people in February as two of the members would be quite appalled. In fact one lady would probably walk out!!!!! I don't mind stimulating conversatioon but I won't insult a close friend. The group meets monthly, each person hosting the evening in turn, we watch the movie have a drink and discuss the film, bit like a book club. The last two films have been The Constant Gardner and a 90 minute Japanese cartoon I've forgotten the name of. Any suggestions out there for something which will be both enjoyable and stimulating ~ we don't need James Bond or the latest shoot 'em up from Hollywood Quote
