We were in Castlefield last night to mouch about the Platform 4 Festival which is basically about street theatre, music, street circus and so on. The main attraction or at least the one we saw advertised was As the World Tipped by Wired Aerial Theatre. The festival itself was excellent but WAT's performance was truly indescribable, I'm going to use the words but they don't come anything like close to giving a picture of this awesome, inspiring and hugely entertaining event. If you possibly can go and see it - September 4th, 8.00pm Kendal

Imagine a giant video screen suspended vertically perhaps 30 feet from the ground by a huge crane. The screen presents images associated with climate change and recordings of world leaders speeches at Copenhagen. In front of the screen "actors" are suspended, hanging vertically, and play out the potential results of global warming. Now whatever your politics, views on climate change you cannot fail to be stunned by this fantastic piece of visual theatre.

Look at the link below, at the top of the screen are two people, a man and a woman running towards each other, it looks quite normal and the effect is almost 3D but in fact the suface below their feet is the vertical video screen, the woman is "running" vertically down and the man up!!!

My wife reckons the angle of the sun shining onto the rear of our property has changed. She thinks the room is darker than it used to be.
