    • Rafa Benitez
    • Ancelotti

Not sure we need another thread or poll to gauge supporters' opinions or is this Hughesy just clutching at straws trying to maintain the status quo ?

Because people in the ‘Kean Out’ thread where saying they don’t want another donut and the fans need to make it clear the sort of calibre we need…….so it’s a way to highlight it

Why put a poll up about replacing the manager who you've backed all the way, Hughesy?

Backed all the way? All I have said is it could be harmful to potential signings, which are key to our squad to help us progress. I can totally see why fans are calling for him to get the boot, I just question the timing. However now that the owners are in town, there probably isn’t a better time to do it.

I'd love Hughes but he would never come, he left Fulham because they didn't have enough cash to satisfy his ambitions.

Why is Alan Curbishley not in there? He's my first choice, mainly because most on that list aren't realistic at all. Moyes? O'Neill? Ancelloti?!

Added for you

O'Neill & Ancelloti who both want a prem job unrealistic?? Not sure....

Twist of course.

Ranieri.

Good shout but ambitious - added

'Other' voters - dont sit on the fence - pick a choice or name a realistic alternative.

Iv added Curbs & Ranieri as per a couple of posters

Your right. Sitting on the fence is NOT an option. I do not know any manager with the name other. If venkys need advice on who to appoint, if Kean goes. Then please those who voted 'other' vote a name instead. 'other' may even mean Jensen or the the office cleaner.

The question is who do you want to replace Kean. The owners are in town, therefore an opportunity has arisen to make the name known to them. KEAN OUT - yes, but WHO DO WE WANT IN.

The bottom line here is anyone’s better than Kean, the likes of Curbishley, who I wouldn't have touched with a barge pole a few years ago, seems like Bill Shankley right now.

But can anyone honestly see Venkys sacking Kean?

I voted other, my choice on other would be:

"How many more polls, threads and discussions are we going to have on exactly the same subject. It's impossible to find anything to read or follow on the MB at the moment. Another thread we don't need."

Oh and yes Steve Kean OUT

The biggest issue to me, Is if Venky's do have the bottle to remove Kean (Removal could hang everyone) then it will cost them Millions, This money would need to be found, does it come out of their pocket? what will it do in the long term?

could put him on gardening duties ???

I'm not sure what i would Do - my head says give Kean a few more games to turn it around with the new players he(who ever is signing them) signed and with a samba/ nelson defense.

so I'm not voting :-)

but if where to pick from the list it would be Ancelotti

Cheers.

O'Neill left his last Prem job because Lerner wouldn't give him the funding he wanted. Same with Hughes.

Ancelloti said he's taking a year long break from football. He might cut that short for a top job, but we're a very unappealing prospect at the moment.

Get rid. Now. Not sure who I'd like in but I reckon the experienced managers like Curbishley, Ranieri and maybe O'Neill could be interested, as well as ambitious, younger lower league managers like Poyet, Clark, Adkins or maybe Howe (!). I'd opt for the safer route and go for someone in the latter catagory, and conclude the 'active' deals we are currently negotiating. Then get the new guy to use the loan/Bosman market. Not ideal, but we should have binned Kean after the final game last season.

Like I said on another thread I think this is ideal for a manager looking for a project because he will have to look at everything on the football side top to bottom with the damage caused by baldylocks. Some have said on other threads they would tolerate Kean staying on as coach, personally I want him out now.

Managers looking for a project could be o'neill, ancelloti, Hughes or even Curbishley. I like Ranieri but I don't think he is that sort of manager. However now I'd take anybody living to replace the doughnut.

From a footballing point of view Mark Hughes would be an excellent candidate. His record as Rovers manager speaks for itself. However I feel the manner of his departure from us in the summer of 2008 and his actions since then mean we should avoid. He treated BRFC with nothing but contempt as he sloped off to Man City, where he squandered tens of millions on average players like Bridge, Wright-Phillips and Santa Cruz, a legacy Man City are still struggling to shake off two years later. Hughes' youth policy is also suspect to say the least. In four years as our manager I'm struggling to think of a youngster he brought through the ranks (other than the average Derbyshire). Since he left players like Hoilett, Olsson and Jones have blossomed. Since leaving City he has further added to his 'mercenary' tag after his Fulham spell.

So obviously I would love Hughes over Kean, but I think we should look elsewhere.

Foreign managers like Benitez, Ranieri and even Ancelotti are unproven with limited resources at clubs in our position of fighting to survive - they are more used to fighting for the top 4 with mega bucks to support them. I doubt any of those three would be interested anyway.

Equally managers such as Poyet, Clark etc. would carry with them the same risks Paul Ince brought - not worth the risk.

For me it would have to be Martin O'Neill. He fits the bill on every level. A proven record of success, an excellent motivator who would reunite the club behind him and get the players fighting for the shirt. He has the reputation in football that would have players queuing up to join us. He would keep us up and take us on to the next level if given adequate support. Would he consider joining us? He wants to return to the Premier League and we're established there, not short on money and have facilities that are amongst the best in the league. It would require Venky's to hand over power for him to do as he wished, which I don't think is the case at the moment but would send out a terrific message to supporters that they were learning their lesson.

This is why we are at a crossroads. For me Steve Kean is on borrowed time as a manager. I can't fault him for effort, it's just not worked. Venky's can persist with Kean, meaning certain relegation, and therefore ruin the club and turn every supporter against them and their legacy forever. Or they can very quickly and easily replace Kean with any one of the large number of proven managers out there, take a back seat and in time watch the club flourish. It really is that simple. You don't need mega money or footballing knowledge, just get someone like O'Neill in who could do it for you.

Crikey 4% to give him more games!

Teams that continually sack the manager inevitably end up in the mire philipl, so I’m not surprised some people are saying stick. This coupled with the fact he’s about to bring in 3 more players, in any other circumstance it would be madness to sack him.

I'd vote for Moyes if I thought it was remotely possible he'd want to come here or that Venky's could afford him.

Martin O'Neill gets my vote. Proven that he can work on a budget, and would help forge into us a solid unit with a counter-attacking threat.

This is all pie in the sky, anyway.

Voted MON as he has a proven track record in the Premiership. Also he has a good record of developing young players which is the only blessing we seem to have at the momment.

Think he would be a bit of a love / hate appointment, a little like Big Sam, if we were to get him but right now I would take anyone to replace this clown!

You didn't give two hoots about that when we sacked Sam, Gav.

Suppose that was different.
