Take a few minutes more and you'll realise why that theory is bullsh*t. The only people it benefits to be quiet is us

That's exactly why we should hope it stays quiet.

Can you name me one Rovers deal that has been 'hi-jacked' because the press released the name and made another club aware he was for sale (that didn't know already)? You must have a lot of examples if you're so concerned.

There's no way of us knowing at what stage a club finds out about a potential deal so it's a bit pointless, but Kalinic was stolen from Pompey. Plus it isn't going to be more likely to be hi-jacked if the name isn't leaked to the media, so surely that's what we want. How impatient can you be, the transfer window closes in a week?

We didn't steal Niko off Pompey. The deal fell through as it became clear Pompey had no money and still owed millions for the rest of their squad. Then they had a transfer embargo put on them.

It did probably bring him to our attention though, whilst also showing us how much we'd have to spend to get him. I doubt we could've 'highjacked' the deal otherwise though.

Way to quote mine, and miss the point. The player benefits from hearing all offers, his agent benefits from hearing all offers, his current club benefits from hearing all offers and therefore all three will be making other clubs available outside of the media (or sometimes using it). The point is the clubs and their scouts have the inside track anyway. This bizarre world where football clubs only get their information (or any) from newspapers is just fantasy, football transfers don't work like that.

There were numerous clubs in for Kalinic before any media reports about Pompey appeared. What do you think was more likely, Sam's scouts knew from the grapevine that he may be available and willing to sign for an English club or Sam read it in the paper and then (presumably knowing very little about him) decided to 'steal' him from Portsmouth? Hmmm?

But finally and most importantly you are creating a strawman here. I simply asked "So not a single journo went to the Airport to see where Kean was headed then?", simply asking why a journalist hasn't at least sourced the destination of Kean's visit. But you seem to be answering the question "Why haven't the club specifically named the player Kean's going to see" which I never asked.

Your post was completely in-congruent with my original question ("So not a single journo went to the Airport to see where Kean was headed then?"), so yes you did miss the point.

The discussion moved a long way away from that. Someone dig up the first post made on the messageboard and then point out how what I am currently posting is not directly linked to it, as far as it being a direct response (I'll add that last bit since it may have included something about this being a board to post about Blackburn Rovers).

Onouha

G John

Lansbury

Cisse

Ibisevic

+ no sale of Samba

And im sure most Rovers fans would be very happy - make it happen

If we could make those signings, our squad would look every bit top-half.

Mounir El Hamdaoui.

That would be some quality signing. He's quite a character, but if we can keep him in line, you have a brilliant striker. His technique is amazing, his goal-scoring record is decent and he scores absolute cracking goals. Best player to compare him with is probably Berbatov, although he has more pace and less heading-ability. Trust me, as a Dutch Ajax-fan, Mounir would be very, very welcome. Only reason he must leave Ajax is because he and Frank de Boer (headcoach) dislike each other, otherwise he would be the no. 1 striker without a doubt. Mounir is a proud person and therefor sometimes difficult to handle. At Rovers he would be the absolute star, so I don't expect any problems.

So, if we can keep him in line, motivated and fit, he would at least score us 15 goals a season, I'm 100% sure about that. With the pacey Goodwillie around him and JR as a breaking-iron on the bench, we could finally have the strike force we need for survival...

Thanks for the info.

Sounds positive!
