Amo Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 How can you blame Kean for missing two penalties????? HOW? He's not a good manager, but that's not on him surely??!! No Im not a fan of Kean, he's crap, but seriously, how can anyone seriously blame him for missing two spot kicks? That is not the managers fault. Why not blame Hoilett, blame Formica?? They missed them, not Kean. Because it's a sign of a bad manager when you play well and still lose games. Add that to Kean's already pathetic record and it speaks for itself.

Martin Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Kean on Radio Rovers: "Happy with performance, gutted with result." "We'll play worse and win 2 or 3 nil" "Dunn would have taken pens if on" "We entered their box and half a number of times" "Samba penatly is not a penalty" "Lots to build on and take all the positives" "Could have score if there was a little bit of drizzle on the pitch" "We were in their box 60 times" "Most of things we'll pick out of the game are positive, despite flat result" "We'll be analysing open play not penalties" "Overall we were exceptional" "Need to get a striker and centre defender in before deadline" Awful questioning from RR.
danielwhite813 Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Just watching Moyes interview. Chatting like they deserved to win the game. Made me laugh
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 People need to quit sympathizing with kean and get a backbone and see he is ruining our team, he is a horrible manager and we should never have hired him in the first place. Venkys need to get their head out of their ass and remove him now! WE MISSED TWO PENALTIES FFS!!!!!!!!!!!! That isn't Kean's fault! Yes he's a useless manager, but its not like the players didn't have a chance to win the game today did they. Are people this damn stupid to understand??????? Quit sympathising over Kean??! What, Hoilett and Formica miss two pens, and its Kean's fault? Thats totally unreasonable. Kean needs to be fired. He isn't a good manager. But today wasn't his fault. Jesus.

Balwer Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 How can you blame Kean for missing two penalties????? Kean's not to blame for the missed pens. Nobody is saying that. He is to blame for the team selection and tactics however. What's the point of dominating possession if you have a donkey up front as your target man? Goodwillie and Formica did more together in 20 minutes than Roberts has done in the past year. Like Kean no doubt will, you are glossing over the underlying problems. The worst team to come to Ewood in 3 years (according to Andy Cryer) and look at the defensive team he sent out. Despite sending out a 4-4-2 away to Villa.
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Because it's a sign of a bad manager when you play well and still lose games. Add that to Kean's already pathetic record and it speaks for itself. Im not saying we played well. All im saying is that today we had two players who missed penalties. That is why we lost the game. Those two players lost us that game. They had the chance and blew it. To say that Kean deserves the sack based on today because two players cant score from the penalty spot is ridiculous. Kean shouldnt be in the job, but to blame him for today is pathetic in my opinion.
CheeseOnToast Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Christopher Samba was in complete control of this match. Shame of a call from the match official to punish just another in a long list of solid defensive plays from Samba... hope he isn't sold.
Dreyski Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 This season could turn out to be death by a thousand cuts. While Kean neither took nor conceded the penalties, Venkys have to learn that managers live and die by their results. KEAN OUT.
MarkBRFC71 Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Just got back. We were poor until Pedersen and Dunn went off. Petrovic did ok, but Formica made all the difference - a proper playmaker, and he ran he ran the game. Roberts was just plain dire - I said before he's a Championship striker, but today's performance suggests he'd struggle in League 2. Defensively we looked much more solid though. Overall we did more than enough to win, but we desperately need to find someone who can take bloody penalty! Having said that the second one was a clear dive. IF Kean can see the light, drop the deadwood (Dunny, MGP & Roberts) and put some faith in the younger, more capable players, we might be ok. If he persists with "experience", we're fooked, simple as, and he has to go. Feel like we've been robbed, but also feel Kean's dire starting 11 handicapped us from the off too.
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 This is not about blaming Kean for missed pens. This is about blaming him for almost relegating us last season and inevitably taking us down this season. People are blaming Kean because we lost today. We didn't lose today because of Kean. That is the point. Kean shouldn't be here, no one is doubting that, but to blame him for today - which is what people are doing - is childish.
pick32 Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 If Dunn and Pedersen Hadn't of got injured and Steve Clown wasn't forced to make the changes would we have dominated the way we did.. NO. His starting eleven was a joke and it only took him 70minutes to realise that Goodwillie would offer more than Roberts. I said before the game Kean need's to go and I still think the same. We might of played well but the guy is a deluded fool he has to go right away and get a new manager in whilst it's the international break.

They actually played 90 minutes, the vast majority of which didn't contain any penalties whatsoever.
Backroom DE. Posted August 27, 2011 Backroom Posted August 27, 2011 We gave Everton the chance to make it a smash-and-grab opportunity. Should have been at least 2 if not 3 up by the time they got a penalty. It's said time and time again, but in this division if you do not put away your chances you inevitably get punished. With Roberts up front we will not take our chances. Formica, Rochina, Goodwillie and Petrovic need to be far more involved, at least 2 of the 4 must start each match and Roberts should never be anywhere near the first eleven.

Kean didn't take the penalties himself, but he is responsible for picking that gormless lummox up front. So yes, I think Kean's ineptitude did play its part in thsi defeat.
stu07 Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Hughes or Lambert? I would take Dowie, Brown or Megson in a heartbeat right about now. Anyone with a clue. I want Venkys to look at the record and then explain why he's still the manager. Missing the penalties wasn't his fault but his selection of Roberts definately was. We are awful team under him and he will take us down.Like someone else said thank god its international matches next week.
Ectric Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 I feel this season is like the one with Ince in charge god help us
texasrover Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Not defending Kean because his team selection wasn't good to start with, but he had to keep Roberts on that long because we had already used 2 subs and had a hell of a lot of yellow cards.
Wild Irish Rover Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Just back from the game and totally mystified. How can a team that plays scintillating one-touch passing football just three days ago (admittedly against SW reserves) revert to the most awful lump it forward and hope for something kind of tactics that were served up today. A few questions stick in my mind after today's disaster: 1) Roberts? What does he actually do for the team? 2) Do the rovers players actually practice penalties? 3) What happens now, when someone comes in with a large bid for Samba? Not looking forward to the next few months. It could all be over by Christmas.

Missing the penalties wasn't his fault but his selection of Roberts definately was. The team that we started the day with were being beaten by Everton until the two injuries changed the makeup of the game. That's not good management, that's a stroke of luck.
AggyBlue Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Initial thoughts - Easily the better team today and desered three points. These results pop up now and again where a team gets overun and win. Sorry but Keans not to blame for todays loss.
Backroom Tom Posted August 27, 2011 Backroom Posted August 27, 2011 No booing for me, felt more like crying than booing, it's all so inevitable. Kean isn't good enough, half the players aren't good enough but there are some bright sparks I thought Formica was outstanding when he came on I just hope that miss doesn't ruin his confidence. If Kean stays we will go down IMO but this post below is amongst the worst posts I have ever seen on this forum: Two penalties missed. Yes the players are playing for Kean aren't they?
Mattie456 Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Because it's a sign of a bad manager when you play well and still lose games. Add that to Kean's already pathetic record and it speaks for itself. Is it? Is there any scientific fact in your theory?? Tosh Not much Kean got wrong IMO today. The only thing was not playing Goodwillie from the start. When was the last time you saw rovers dominate a game for 90 mins playing football??
beerwins Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 The players dont want to score because if they do they know they wont be in the team next week, simple really. Samba was fantastic today and Formica was very good also but to play so well and get nothing, if Samba leaves we are in the shiznit big time. Ref was an absolute arse and should never ref in this league again, he could'nt wait to blow for anything. I would love to be able to blame Kean for today but I dont what he could have done, maybe he could have started with Rochina or Goodwillie and Formica. I dont see us having an easier match than that, scary stuff, we need a manager that can win ugly.
Raymond Rover Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 I dont think I have been this frustrated and upset about a result for a long, long time. We can blame the players for not practising their spot kicks, the ref for giving a dodgy last minute penalty and the manager for picking a terrible starting line up. It just all went wrong today but I will say I liked the look of Formica, Goodwillie and Hoilett today and hope we stick with them. I have faith we will get results but we need them NOW. Edit: Samba was also immense back today, boy do we need to keep him badly!
