How do we know Kean's the one who's brought them in? (I know this wasn't a personal opinion of your's.)

Let's face it, Kean's in the job because he's exceptionally lucky to be there, which means he is pliant and a yes man.

Whole thing makes my blood boil, and I am as depressed about Rovers right now as I was when we lost to Palace in the second leg in 1988.

Remember those days? When we used to dream of making it into the top flight, but it seemed like a pipe dream?

Yes I was at that game. I was working in the south then and got a ticket from a work colleague (a Palace fan) and was sat midst the Palace fans. Got some strange looks for calling Ian Miller a tw*t for skying one over the Palace cross bar.

I can't sleep after todays game - it's 1.30 am here!! so depressing.

What happened to the senior players for the pens ? I thinking about one guy in particular who got God knows how many international caps, played God knows how many games for a great internatiol side, been doing a bit of shouting in the papers lately. How come he didn't say " Give me the bloody ball, I'll sort this out ! "

I was perfectly happy with either of them taking a penalty to be honest - didn`t think either would miss Tyrone.

No excuses today, we should have had the game sown up and the right team picked

If Hoilett was the nominated penalty taker he should - in the apparent abscence of a Plan B - also have taken the 2nd one. Based on the 'If you fall off a bicycle' theory...

not unless he didn`t fancy it as he missed the 1st one which is natural to a certain extent

Goodwillie had the ball and I'm sure I lip read him saying "do you want me to take it" to Formica. Formica took the ball from him and you know the rest. I'm surprised Emerton didn't take it myself.

Was at the game today and very disappointed but I do believe that we were the better team. It had all the signs of "one of those days" where despite our good chances nothing was going to go in.

Positives

Another excellent Formica performance - was dangerous and won both penalties

Hoilett - great dribbling, was the architect today and didn't let his head drop after missing the penalty (if anything it spurred him on)

Samba - immense today even if he did give away a penalty, seemed to be the only player not scared of getting hurt when the ball was up for grabs

Goodwillie - Saw more from him in his short stint to convince me his a better Roberts, the seem to have similar styles but he was much more interesting to watch and almost provided a goal

Negatives

Roberts - Seemed scared of being left unmarked. If he was in space he seemed to run towards the nearest Everton player. Did nothing today.

Petrovic - Looked out of his league today, had absolutely no idea what he was doing or where he was playing. Some bad passes and headers causing us trouble. He needs time; time we don't have.

Salgado - Slow and too easily beaten at right back

Pedersen - Looked very suspect while he was on the pitch, Formica looked twice the player he is

Penalties - I'll leave it at that

Needed a point at least today especially with these fixtures coming up:

Fulham (A)

Arsenal (H)

Newcastle (A)

Man City (H)

We better get used to this relegation zone thing; we're making it our home until October at least!

And on a final note - good luck Brett!

That's out of order, posting his personal details.

How did the ref rob us - he gave us 2 penalties, at least one of which was never, ever a penalty!

Yes the one he awarded to Everton at the end.

Did you see how many yellow cards he gave to us yet for similar/same offences by Everton players just gave free kicks?

Anyone see the stuff on twitter? Zac alley and jadan hall said rovers fans were out of order booing the team, a few people had a do back some of them overly harsh and then hall said these rovers fans were nobs. I think he meant the ones he was arguing with but sone took it to mean all fans.

Trying times!

Hall also said that Venkys pick the team, which he later deleted...

career suicide for him to be saying Venkys pick the team - I personally don`t think the fans were booing the team. From where i was in the jack walker upper, fans were booing the ref at the end of the game, certainly not the players. people booed Kean when he through the ball back to the touchline, but never heard anyone boo any players today.

People unhappy about the result and the situation and manager - not with the players who did most things right today except score

On about 85 mins the ball came to Kean on the touchline and he was booed, not by a massive number, bur certainly audible.

Kean seemed to see the light last year when he dropped Pedersen. I remember Pedersen was less than pleased on his little blog.

Now the chronic underperformer is back in the side. He's a spent force. Play Rochina or Olsson.

How can you blame Steve Kean for today?

If he didn't pick the right team, which team would you have picked.

And if he'd played all the new boys straight from the kick-off and we'd still lost you would have blamed him again for doing so.

If you believe in luck; that SK is an unlucky manager whereas RFW is a lucky one, then maybe you all have a point.

Back to the game. I had a feeling we would lose 1-0 today. It was Everton's turn to win. (Superstition again, hey?)

We deserved to win this game 4-1.

I am very encouraged by the performance of the players today. I believe it's not all doom and gloom. We have to back the whole club; that includes players, manager, backroom staff and owners.

We WILL come out of it; I'm convinced.tinykit.gif

Just back from the game and totally mystified. How can a team that plays scintillating one-touch passing football just three days ago (admittedly against SW reserves) revert to the most awful lump it forward and hope for something kind of tactics that were served up today.

You have answered your own question.

btw I thought there was some good football on display today and especially from the two villains of the peace Hoilett and Formica. Lets be honest we should have won at a canter today. I can only assume that the police who were following Kean down the M6 must have felt reason to stop him after he ran over that black cat and her six kittens. Napoleons 'lucky General' quote sprang to mind at the final whistle.

Samba today was immense and showed just how key he is to the club's future. What a defender, and what an inspiration. Add to that was a strong and unassuming performance from Givet.

I was the only one in the pub who thought that Petrovich did OK. imo the team looked better when he and Formica came on for Dunny and MGP. Like Jones he makes a strong defensive midfield pairing with N'Zonzi.

Problem is that none of the above shows in the Prem table. A new right fullback is becoming critical.

Sorry missed the match - was there any booing at the end of the game?

No. We booed the ref off at half time. Lots of applause for bert from the crowd after the game.
