Backroom Tom Posted August 27, 2011 Backroom Share Posted August 27, 2011 Your deflecting how bad Rovers were in front of goal by mentioning the referee. Just how wide do Steve Keans men need the goals to be to get it in. Absolute nonsnese, why would I want to do that? I mentioned the referee as he was stand out awful

beerwins
It's almost as though Venkys have told Kean that the players in their ads have to be in the first team... That's a very strange way of looking at it but you know what you may well be onto something.
thenodrog
On the referee, not even taking into account the penalties (one of ours I thought was a dive but didn't see theirs) he was absolutely appaling, Salgado booked for a slightly high foot due to Anichibes reaction, Hoilett booked for a foul he didn't see, Samba got wrong side of his man 2 or 3 times yet the ref gave us a free kick, utterly inept both ways. It's the old girly scream and writhe on the ground trick obviously practised bt Baines and performed to perfection. The louder a player shrieks the quicker the card comes out. Baines didn't even have the decency to limp to the touchline after his treatment. That Ref was an absolute tosser. He booked our players for fouls yet refused to show at least two yellow cards to Jagielka and a.n other in the second half for scything our players down. He also punished and booked N'Zonzi for the best tackle of the afternoon.

mode_m
the last three results certainly make the future look bleak for this club. hard to be positive and optimistic right now so ill wait a few days before passing judgment on todays performance. cesus
One thing is a certainty this season from what I witnessed today, N'Zonzi will talk himself off the pitch soon this season. He reminds me off Kevin off Kevin and Perry the arms get flung the legs get kicked and a verbal volley gets unleashed, poor decision or not you just can't do it! We aren't popular and refs love to book us don't give them anymore ammo!

thenodrog
I've supported rovers for over 20 years and I've always given managers a chance, my patience has run out now. The Sunderland fan on now wants rid of Bruce. I would love him in charge. Are you mad???? I'd take the bloody fan before Steve Bruce!
thenodrog
Anyone see the stuff on twitter? Zac alley and jadan hall said rovers fans were out of order booing the team, a few people had a do back some of them overly harsh and then hall said these rovers fans were nobs. I think he meant the ones he was arguing with but sone took it to mean all fans. Trying times! Sorry Tom but I have no idea what you are on about. Who are these people and who cares what they think? Balwer
That's a very strange way of looking at it but you know what you may well be onto something. Pretty sharp marketing on their part, I am more inclined to buy Venkys Chicken if I see Dunn eating it rather than Formica. Dunn looks like he enjoys fried chicken way more than Formica. He needs to retain his discipline but Nzonzi must have been as frustrated as hell to have been penalised for that by some geek who won't be able to trap a wet sandbag? Why is there no one to book a ref when they make a mistake?

arbitro
I'm suprised that nobody has mentioned how Pedersen 'bottled' out of two challenges in the first half. That, for me is criminal for any footballer. And how Roberts comically developed a limp once it was clear he was about to get the hook. Two cameos that sum up each player, Pedersen is cowardly and Roberts is conniving.

Watched the highlights on espn goals, first penalty didn't look like it, second maybe, third definitely not

Very frustrating and whilst many will point to the Rovers failures to put the ball in the net Lee Mason had a stinker which didn't help.
Backroom Tom Posted August 27, 2011 Backroom Share Posted August 27, 2011 Sorry Tom but I have no idea what you are on about. Who are these people and who cares what they think? Zac Aley and Jadan Hall are two Rovers youth team players, after the game they were defending the manager and it descended into name calling and the like. At one time Jadan said why blame the manager when the owners pick the team. I imagine the lad may find himself in trouble.

Wing Wizard Windy Miller
Missed the first couple of games due to hols. Set off to the game at 1:50 pm, feeling excited and looking forward to my first sight of Formica, Goodwillie, Petrovic and Simon. At approximately 2:05 pm I was banging the steering wheel in disgust as the team news was read out on radio rovers. The same old S*** was trotted out ....Dunn, Pedersen, Salgado and Roberts. It was the same team that looked relegation fodder for most of last year. Had I dreamt we had actually brought in some new players (granted not enough)? Had we not just rushed a player through to register him in time to play? My optimism went in a blink. We started ok but after 15 mins or so, Everton were comfortable and beginning to get a grip on the game. On the plus side, our defence looked pretty solid (though Pedersend poor attempts at 'tracking back' were abysmal. The game was clearly heading for non-entity of stalmate, then fate took a hand. Two players injured and replaced by two of these 'younger talents'. The game petered out until half time, apart from some abysmal refereeing decisions. I still can't understand how the ref can book a player (Hoilett) for a tackle he hasn't seen. Second half we looked like a different team. Some of Junior's dribbling was superb (still hasn't signed a contract Kean grr)and Formica's awareness and technical ability was stunning - he could be a gem of a player. Unfortunately, the ability of these 2 was overshadowed by the complete ineptitude of Roberts. Roger Milla could put his boots on and make more of an impression. Penalties: Thought Hoilett's was poor, Formica was simply an inch away from the perfect pen having sent Howard the wrong way. I thought that some of our attacking play between Formica, Hoilett and Goodwillie was excellent and on the day we were very unlucky. The question is, WHY WHERE THEY NOT ON FROM THE START KEAN??? Today Dunn, Pedersen and Roberts proved they have nothing to offer our team. We should have started with Hoilett, Formica, Rochina and Goodwillie. Everton would not have been able to live with their movement and guile. They coped very well with the long ball to Roberts. The fans knew this before we started the game. We simply HAVE to play the younger players. I don't buy into this 'Premiership experience' lark. European teams do alright against their EPL counterparts and they don't have Prem experience, they are simply good players. The players we have - We're talking 21 to 23 year olds. They are not to young. Owen and Fowler had 70 - 80 Prem goals by that age. kean had the opportunity to play 'his team and his way' today and IMO he bottled it completely. He has to go. These young players are the ONLY way we will stay up and here's the connundrum. If a new manager comes in, will he look at the squad and stick with the established players (like Kean did today) or will he give the younger players a chance? To summarise - Everton were poor. We were well and truly mugged today and it's our own fault for not taking the chances. It reminded me a bit of playing Crewe in the Championship when we had about 28 chances and lost 1-0. Was it kean's fault? Yes and no. On a final note I was very impressed with Feillani (sp), I thought he was the exceptional player in the Everton team, winning countless defensive headers and very strong in the tackle - used the ball well. 23 year old with over 70 prem games, probably not enough experience...... thenodrog
Just seen Evertons 'penalty' and listened to Moyes lying through his teeth by saying samba had his hands on Fellini's shoulders preventing him jumping. Samba never laid a hand on Fellini's shoulders nor had any contact until after he had completely outjumped Fellini and headed the ball away. An absolutely dreadful decision by a absolutely incompetent referee.
