Andy
The few folk left sticking up for Kean (those who genuinely aren't just on the wind-up) should have a read of that and see that's not just a few people on here attacking Kean. He's very quickly becoming a laughing stock and taking the club with him. For me, although the absolute tripe he comes out with is shocking, it's his results that he is and should be judged on - and they are inconceivably bad. dazmaz
Olsson has no place on the left wing anymore, not with Vukcevic, Formica and Hoilett so I dont get why people are banging on about that.
tonyoz
When was the last time we missed two penalty's in a game? I seem to remember John Coddington having 3 goes at scoring the same penalty many moons ago.

Tyrone Shoelaces
I seem to remember John Coddington having 3 goes at scoring the same penalty many moons ago. Er, two goes. Probably the worst penalty attempts I've ever seen. He started with a run up like a fast bowler ( at least 20 yards ), slowed down when he got to the ball and then gently sidefooted the ball straight into the arms of the goalie. Amazingly the ref said "take it again"- so off he goes to do exactly the same thing with exactly the same result ! A bit later on we got another pen and Eamon Rogers put that one away. Apparently Coddington had been a successful penalty taker at his previous club, Huddersfield Town. How I don't know, maybe the previous goalie couldnt see for laughing. Best penalty taker in my time at Ewood- was Mike Harrison- he could side foot them harder than most people could blast them. Team for that game which Rovers won 2-1 - v Crystal Palace 16th March 1968 Barton- Newton, Wilson- Clayton,Coddington,Hole- Ferguson 1,Rogers 1,Martin,Darling, Connelly. Sub Anderson. There's a few in that team that would walk into our current team. Newton, Wilson ,Hole ,Rogers, Ferguson to name just five. Amazing that 3 England internationals allowed a centre half to take the pen at all. Can't remember Ronnie Clayton ever taking a pen.

thenodrog
Another paper smelling the BS of kean Guardian report Simply tells it how it is. Very dismissive of Steve Kean too with no punches pulled. He keeps setting new records of incompetence doesn't he? Worst start to a season in 60 years. Five home defeats in half a season after just 6 in the previous two seasons under a proper manager. Did we really get in Evertons box 60 times? Were we really the better side in the 2nd half v Villa? Kean would be better doing a Fergie and refusing to speak to the press / media. That Jason Roberts is going to crash and burn soon too on 606. He needs to remember that no one can defend the indefensible.
John
If I was Kean, I would consider keeping quiet until results pick up a bit - since December, he has embarassed himself and us in the process. From Bruno being like Denis Irwin to positive results and Champions League. The results on the pitch since he has become "manager" say it all. Cos that is his best position obviously. At full back he is a little suspect. A better question for you to consider dazmaz might be why, with such a surplus of wide men, such a dearth of defenders and money so scarce Vukcevic has been signed? Surely any signing should be to benefit BRFC and not some tarry fingered sports agent and his associates somewhere?
den
Before my time that Tyrone, but better than Shearer? Difficult to compare as they were both great penalty takers. Tyrone is right about Mike Harrison though, Matty. He used to sidefoot them in like a rocket. He had the hardest shot I've ever seen, maybe even harder than Shearer - impossible to say. I think I'm right in saying that Harrison converted 27ish consecutive penalties, before missing one. He didn't take another one after missing that. Might be wrong on that, memories play tricks after so long. Harrison was still in contact with Ronnie Clayton until a year or two ago at least. I remember Ronnie saying that Harrison had this fabulous looking Brazilian bird with him, which is no real surprise seeing that Harrison was a good looking tanned guy with huge thighs. thenodrog
Before my time that Tyrone, but better than Shearer? Tough one that. I'd put my mortgage on the pair of em scoring. I guess we'd need to see Mike Harrison up against Bruce Grobbelar. Rem that is only penalties!!! Mike Harrison was a passable left winger with blistering pace and a powerful shot who managed an Under 21 or U23 appearence for England. Shearer's time at Rovers can only be compared in my opinion to the achievements of Dixie Dean, Ian Rush and Thierry Henry. The results on the pitch since he has become "manager" say it all. With a stronger squad at his disposal last spring too. He prob wouldn't have bought them if the Venkey mob had chucked some money his way but notwithstanding that I'm sure Allardyce would have loved to have been able to add Jones, RSC and the two Carlos Kickaballs to his scant options. Massive following at Stoke that day, behind the goal and down the side if I remember rightly.
LDRover
Think that was in '88 Matty, when the 23 game run came to an end? I'm sure Mail's pen was in a 1-0 win. There was a decent following that day but nowhere near as many as the game where we were down the sides as well.Must've been over 7,000? Could have sworn he had 3 goes but memories fade I guess. I certainly do remember him taking the longest run up I have ever seen - before or since! You described it perfectly. Now, Mike Harrison was a penalty taker - and my favourite player at that time. I can still remember him scoring one of the best volleys I've ever seen in the Darwen end. tonyoz
Tough one that. I'd put my mortgage on the pair of em scoring. One cold blustery day at Bloomfield Road (pre-season game I think it was - anyway there was only about 6 of us in the ground) and Rovers got a penalty and Harrison strode up to take it. I managed to walk in right behind the goal. The ball whistled into the net right next to the post and I thought to myself - that was the perfect penalty - impossible to stop. Funny the things that stick in your mind huh?
