Blue n White Rover
Copied the above from the Orient thread posted after last night's match. The above poster also thought Paul Ince was a good manager and described Sam Allardyce as a "fat slug" so his football knowledge is somewhat limited but this is probably the first time Jason Roberts has been described as a "joy to watch" and having "outstanding skill". Now I've met Jason a few times and he's a lovely fellow but even he would admit he is not the world's greatest footballer so is the above poster correct and is our Jase a "joy to watch" and does he have "outstanding skill" ? Discuss. Last night in the first half Roberts was terrible and he was lucky to get a goal to his name. However, when Blackman was replaced with Junior at HT, Roberts seemed to be a complete different player. Some of his touches were very good and his hold up play was a joy to watch. To quote a United fan I took with me to the game "Why doesn't he do that in the league?". The answer none of us know. He did brilliant for Vukcevic's goal and did all the hard work for Rochina's goal. He can be a handful at time, but is he Premier League quality? No. One very good half of football and yes, he was a joy to watch, but you have to remember that he was up against a side that is currently bottom of League 1. Yeah, I bet Andrews is a joy to watch in the championahip, not the PL league.
Ozz
Roberts is an impact player. Second half of last season he played, I thought really well, in a struggling team. Held the ball up well , and gave most centre halves a good battle. If his finishing was like say Van Nistleroy then I doubt he would have played for Wigan, WBA, Rovers,Bristol etc

Same with Kuqi, Grabbi and Nathan Blake.
Roversi
Jason is and has always been a championship player, stick him in that league and he would get you 15+ goals. But at this level the only impact I can ever see Or have seen him make is coming of the Bench and trying to ruffle some feathers. I think he is borderline useful as a squad player but now we have yak, goodwillie, rochina and holiett all far better technically able to play striker Roberts should be no where near the first 11. This may seem like a controversial statement I'm about to make, but he is a nice guy, and he does have valuable experience in having worked his way up from non league to the prem, I wouldn't begrudge giving him a youth team coaching job just to help and pass on what he has learnt
braddock
Had a very good game last night after a slow start. Some idiot last night jeered him every time he touched it then when quiet when he was the best player for the last half hour.

Some idiot last night jeered him every time he touched it then when quiet when he was the best player for the last half hour. Disgraceful that. What do these idiots expect to achieve? I think Petrovic has been awful so far but I wouldn't dream of slating him at a game. As long as a player is trying his best he should never come in for abuse from his own fans. The treatment of Andrews was an embarassment to the club and it seems to me as though this kind of behaviour is becoming more common.

Hes like a pregnant hippo and couldn't beat a lower league goalie 1 on 1 , if the goalie had guessed right for the pen it would have been an easy save and everyone would be saying it was ######! Spot on Abbey. Roberts did a magnificent job last season, yet so far this season its looking like hes stayed at the club one season too many now, sadly. roverandout
i dont think roberts' heart is in it anymore, maybe he should stick to phone-ins full-time, anyone reckon he might hang his boots up this summer?
tony gale's mic
There's absolutely no point in Roberts now we have Yakubu.
Gav
Great servant to the club, 110% everytime he pulls on the shirt, deserves more respect in my opinion. There's absolutely no point in Roberts now we have Yakubu. A rather sweeping statement after 1 game TGM? not saying I disagree, but its not like you to nail your colors to the mast after 1 game
magicalmortensleftpeg
I respect him, he seems like a nice guy and he's done great charity work. He's just a poor football player. Unfortunately that is how we must judge him by.

Doubt it would have been easy, wasn't quite in the corner but had decent power for a side footer. The point of the stutter run-up and disguised body shape is to send the keeper the wrong way. He did just that so I don't see how you can call it ****. Wish he'd been taking them against Everton is all I've got to say.
neophox
Just realized he scores about 5 goals a season in 30 games.....really poor. Don't think he will make a game this term, only if Yakubu or Goodwillie flops. Yakubu scores around 10-15 goals on 30 games a season ration ..... thats difference.
