T.J.Newton Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 hes bought himself another handfull of games to prove himself with the quality signings hes made, but if where still in relegation zone after 6-8 games he has to go no questions askesd, i dont rate him as a manager at all simply because he has proven time and tme again he has no idea what to do on matchdays once the games kicked off, when the game doesnt go to his plan he just stands there looking completely stumped. its a shame his ego led him to take on the role as manager because hes clearly not one but he could have been a great assistant manager.

Mc Love Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 The real test starts now! He has players at his disposal. Should be given two or three games max! Steve Kean Karl Pilkington
ABBEY Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 "The club is now looking for everyone to give full backing to manager Steve Kean and his new-look squad as we attempt to set about the task of climbing the league table as speedily as possible." jhc !!!! WE CHUFFING LUMBERED WITH THE LIE MAN!
den Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 "Blackburn Rovers Football Club scored a succession of positives as the curtain closed on the summer transfer window." Unbelievable Jeff. Is he running the website as well?
donnermeat Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 "Blackburn Rovers Football Club scored a succession of positives as the curtain closed on the summer transfer window." Unbelievable Jeff. Is he running the website as well? No, Jason Roberts is.
G Somerset Rover Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Just nearly choked on my evening brew reading that latest article on the official site. Anyone would think we did get Ronaldinho and Raul after all. That's that then folks, Keano Grigio is going nowhere.
Mattyblue Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 If it was some other club, I'd be marvelling at Kean's chutzpah.
John Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 After reading some of the guff on the official website, you would think we have never signed a player before....
BuckyRover Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 We have signed a decent number of players and have spent the 8th or 9th most in the league. When was the last time that happened? (think what occurred when we sold Roque and Warnock) I'm not saying everything is perfect but toa certain extent they have put their money where their mouth is
Amo Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 We have signed a decent number of players and have spent the 8th or 9th most in the league. When was the last time that happened? (think what occurred when we sold Roque and Warnock) I'm not saying everything is perfect but toa certain extent they have put their money where their mouth is I think we've been very astute with our transfers this summer. We've got a good mix of youth and experience. The only serious downside is whether we have the manager to craft a decent team out of it.
BuckyRover Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 I would hope that he is on borrowed time. Things need to shape up on the pitch and fast. The positive from this is that a decent manager should do well with this team.
John Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Are you talking about net spending? As said on the other thread, I think we made some decent signings - however based on results to date, we don't have a manager who can pick up points in the premier league, hopefully better quality players will help.
BuckyRover Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 I'm not talking about net spending. I'm talking about spending some money after receiving a lot. Hence why I highlighted the sale of Roque and Warnock. I don't think we will ever (rarely?) spend more than we receive. Our operating costs are higher as a proportion of income.
Athlete Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 I would hope that he is on borrowed time. Things need to shape up on the pitch and fast. The positive from this is that a decent manager should do well with this team. agree if Rovers dont get a win from next couple of fixtures he has to go , he has broke records worst run in years , worst start to a season in years , a decent manager can mould the players we have into a top 10 finish but can Kean since he was appointed he's managed 5 wins including 2 V WBA ( at the near end of RDM reign ) and a win against a Liverpool side which didn't even put in a shift that evening as Roy ot the push , a win over Bolton at ewood whom looked like they were on the beach .

THey are keeping the lie man as manager ! rock on venky whoop whooop
moerpho Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Still suffering withdrawals (believe it or not) after the transferwindow but now it's all about checking BRFCS, Twitter etc just to see if there's some hint/rumour/info on Kean getting fired. Despite a voice in the back of my head that says we will probably nick a point or an unlikely win Everton-style against Fulham followed by Kean coming out talking about CL again (and certainly buy him at least 5 more games as manager) I'm still hoping something might happen. *sigh*
BuckyRover Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 so with how they have gobbed off about 8th AND a cup win THIS season and champions league then do you think thats putting money where their mouths is? marquee signings like becks ,ronny ,riquelme ? have they put the money where their mouths is? the trust bought players from sales as well! BRFC1995 Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 how much time do signigs buy the manager? can't recall a mansger getting the boot just 3 or 4 games after a window.......which needs to happen here, terrible feeling it'll end up ince like with a stay of execution up until christmas and even then i'm very dubious that the venkys attitude would be sod it too late carry on.
rovgers Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 haha, look at Yakubu's face on that picture... http://www.rovers.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10303~2439092,00.html? They've both got puzzled looks on their faces, probably wondering "Why the phuck is Karl Pilkington standing between us"
Mercer Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 A friend forwarded some stats today and I looked almost in disbelief - IMO, you don't realise how atrocious Kean is until you look in black and white beyond the bullsh1t. PL since taking over: Home P13 W3 D5 L5 F12 A13 P14 Away P11 W2 D2 L7 F14 A25 P8 Total P24 W5 D7 L12 F26 A38 P22 Win % 21 And since February 2011: Home P9 W1 D4 L4 F6 A9 P7 Away P8 W1 D2 L5 F11 A19 P5 Total P17 W2 D6 L9 F17 A28 P12 Win % 12% Unbelievably bad and would get 9 out of 10 managers the sack. Mr Bullsh1t does not have a home record and I would hope that someone smacks him in the face with these stats should he ever refer to it again. IMO, this loser, unless quickly removed, will take us down.
True Blue & White Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 We have signed a decent number of players and have spent the 8th or 9th most in the league. When was the last time that happened? (think what occurred when we sold Roque and Warnock) I'm not saying everything is perfect but toa certain extent they have put their money where their mouth is And where did we coming on the incoming cash table? 3rd behind Villa and Tottenham by my estimation. And what happened to the £10m 'two window' initial budget before the £23m in sales we made as well? I love being optimistic (and weirdly I am about the season) but it's hard to put Venky's in a good light when we ended up spending only 47% of the budget we were promised, especially as key areas (striker and right back) haven't been adequately addressed. P.S I do remember when we sold Roque and Warnock, we brought in Givet (£3.5m) and Kalinic (£6m) to replace them. We also signed Jacobsen, N'Zonzi, Van Heerden, Jake Kean and Chimbonda for a total of £12m (with incoming cash circa £21m) so that's really not a good example. Comparing the 2011 Summer window with the 2009 one only proves Venky's are willing to put the same amount of money in as the trust. I made statement about jumping from the Jersey shaped frying pan into the Pune fire when they took over, sadly their reign is only proving me right each day.
perthblue02 Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Apparently Mrs venky has said that what's gone on is history and will be looking to lift the doom and gloom around the place, so will wait till Kean has been for his meeting in India before judging if its more broken promises or not. And will actually look forward to an interview with him after he gets potted
ABBEY Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 25m for Roque and Warnock and we got panic buy Niko 'im not a target man' Kalinic? niko NEVER got a fair crack or a run of games ffs!
barry_ Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 as was apparent on Saturday... Kean has lost the supporters and it wouldn't matter who he signed now or in the future... he's a dead man walking. Probably not going to happen anytime soon but all we can hope for is that he gets sacked before it's to late for our premiership survival.

Kean will get the chance to mould his own team - I would imagine that has been his only defence. However I hope they are reasonable and look it his overall record + and get shut quickly if results dont improve. Only thing in Keans defence has been the loss of key central defenders for the first three matches. Excuses have to stop now - more defeats and he should do the decent thing (thoigh not holding breath)
