[Archived] Steve Kean

Glenn

We're now had our worst start since the 1950s, but an improved performance and some bad luck. So how do people feel?

Kean is no-longer the bullet proof Monk,

The hearbeat which has kept him in a job, is no longer lurking in the shadows. He is now left wide open with no-where to hide.

Up until now he has never been judged by the owners for results on the pitch, because TBH they did not really care what happened on the football side (Despite their claims).

There has been admittance off the record, that they have been lead down the garden path, Does this make it right or is this a good enough excuse?

For me NO, Anyone with half a brain would have realised this months ago, The message is let history be history, but that will only become history if they now act with the clubs best interest at heart.

Kean is now only 1 or 2 games away from the exit door, if results do not improve, or more revelations open the owners eyes. In my opinion the latter seems the most likely outcome.

The last minute transfer signings, will not paper over the cracks, or change fans opinions on the Manager, He had it all to prove from day one that he was the right appointment, as he had done nothing prior to his appointment to suggest he should have ever been given the Managers job at any Premiership team.

However the decision was made, and as fans we had to live with that and get on with it.

Problem is its been a disaster both on and off the pitch and Kean has been a key ingrediant on both issue's.

He has now publically claimed he is thrilled with his squad, so now he has NO excuses, get the results or get your coat!!!

Kean is now the weak link at the club. Pointless signing decent players when you don't have the qualities to leas them.

I hope your right - that he will be judged on results as that should have him out the door within 3 matches.

Let's hope the 'Golden child' Hughes returns. With a couple more additions (we all no where) a good manager should be able to get the squad well into the top half.

On thing I will say, regardless of who is responsible for signings is at least they have brought the average squad age down significantly - something we desperately needed and something that may serve us well if we get a good manager in.

Is your view based on information Glen, or is it just your opinion? I ask as Kamy seems to be saying the opposite.

If Kamy is right, and he's very secure in his job, then Blackburn Rovers is no longer our club, which leads us to take radical action. Boycotts of home games, mercandise etc. starting a new club or whatever should be considered if the owners really don't give a crap about the team. I admit that these are just off the top of my head, but something needs to be done, and I think that asassination and blowing up Ewood Park is a bit too strong. Incompetence on this scale drives me mad.

We ain't getting relegated. Still don't know about Kean but sacking him during the window would've been stupid. I'm willing to give him a few more games.

!) blind optimism-there's a very high likelihood we will be relegated.

2)what don't you know? don't you know his record? Isn't that all that is needed to know?

3) Don't you realise that if he carries on at the present rate for"a few more games" it will be all over? Too late then for any new manager brave enough to take the job to save us.

OK. Fair enough Steve Kean. I'm with you. I like people who are tough, positive and not afraid of failure. When you put your head on a plate like that I will judge you from now on, but of course consider your horrible record in the past.

One of the most important would be to see your new shrewd signings (which I agree) in the first XI instead of passengers like MGP and Roberts.

I re-read my post and read Kamy's and they both say the same, in that Kean is not going through the door before the Fulham match.

What my post eludes to, is the results on the pitch will now decide Kean's future, and NOT influences which are not football

Fair play to Kean. I'm more than willing to give him a chance with his own team at full strength, however, if he continues to play Roberts as the main striker all hell will break loose at Ewood!

One post on the LET site sums it up nicely for me:

I want Kean to do well, as I want any Rovers manager to do well.

He comes across as a decent, dignified man in interviews and that in my opinion, means something good. That said, I always felt that Allardice came across in the same way, that he was treated appallingly made it even more difficult to stomach.

That is in the past now. Venky's and Kean are in; Allardice, Jones, Williams, Finn and the Walkers are out.

Venky's clearly know how to run a business (if not a football club) and passed the Premier League's due diligence test and of course, the Walkers would also have administered their own due diligence on the Venky's too.

Jones would have left know matter who was in charge, like it or not, he went to the biggest football club in the world. Don't blame Kean or the Venky's, Jones leaving the way he did was the end of the Walker Era, it was the final poke in the eye to Uncle Jack's legacy; Rovers are not a finishing school for the likes of Manchester UTD, that is not what Jack Walker invested in the stadium, medical facilities and youth academy for.

The club are now entering a new era. I genuinely think that the Venky's and Kean have a vision. They have spent money and bought quality. Rovers are playing a better brand of football.

I think some of the criticisms of Kean on these discussion boards have been abusive and childish - As a Rovers fan, I understand their hurt, passion and concern and it is good to see so many devoted Rovers fans - but let's keep the personal abuse out.

I'm also curious as to some of the comments that i've read, "Kean stabbed Allardice in the back" and "Kean is a VenKy's 'yes man'", what does that mean? Nobody ever goes on to qualify those statements.

The criticism of the Venky's, to my mind, has largely been based upon snobbery with undercurrents of racism. Why? Because they are brown, Indian, come from a country with no footballing history, their spokesperson is a woman? Are these the reasons?

They've kept season ticket prices down, renamed the famous Blackburn End in honor of a club legend and have donated the historic and famous Rovers shirt to a worthy charity AND HAVE GIVEN AN UNTRIED AND UNTESTED MANAGER FULL BACKING ONCE HE HAS SIGNED A CONTRACT IN A WAY THAT NO OTHER UNTRIED AND UNTESTED MANGER HAS EVER BEEN - THAT IS EITHER VISIONARY AND PROGRESSIVE OR FOOLHARDY - TIME WILL TELL.

What the Veny's are mainly guilty of is naivety. Linking the club with footballing superstars is only going to result in mockery - that is not their fault - that is football snobbery and the culture of the English. The English would win the world cup every time is it was based on arrogance and snobbery. The southern London media do not react when small mediocre clubs like Portsmouth and Fulham are linked with Maradonna but they do when Rovers are, that is because to them Blackburn is a dirty northern slum town.

Venky's sacked Allardice without a replacement; were linked with said superstars resulting in London media snootery; they gave the job to Kean, then said it was only every going to be till the end of the season (meaning no matter how well they did he would still get sacked, what kind of motivation is that?) and finally they gave him the job.

The Venky's should attend home games and speak to the fans on BBC Radio Lancashire and through the Lancashire Telegraph; maybe even an open fans forum at Ewood Park; their main problems are naivety resulting in bad PR.

Kean has to turn things around quickly. He has 1 or 2 games. If he loses the next game, he might get sacked but then again, he might be given 1 or 2 more as it is a new team and the players are settling in. Kean needs at the absolute very least a win and a draw out of the next three games (4 points out of 12) or i think he's a gonner.

Good luck to him.

Have a look at our next fixtures in September, October and November:-

Fulham (A)

Arsenal (H)

Newcastle (A)

Man City (H)

QPR (A)

Tottenham (H)

Norwich (A)

Chelsea (H)

Wigan (A)

Stoke (A)

Despite our new signings which I am relatively positive about I can only see us winning one of those games. Arguably our winnable games are QPR, Norwich and Wigan away but with Kean in charge I really cant see us winning more than one. So my prediction is that we will have 4 points between now and the end of November if Kean is still in charge. I would love to be wrong, I really would but I don't think I will be.

So 4 points from the 1st 10 games is certainly enough to get him sacked isn't it?

Venky's - Please sack him now to avoid relegation!

Fulham (A) Loss

Arsenal (H) Loss

Newcastle (A) Win

Man City (H) Loss

QPR (A) Draw

Tottenham (H) Draw

Norwich (A) Win

Chelsea (H) Loss

Wigan (A) Draw

Stoke (A) Loss

I can see a couple of wins, but so hard to predict how new guys are going to settle.

"He comes across as a decent, dignified man in interviews and that in my opinion, means something good."

Ha Ha Ha ,We must have got a new manager with the same name then, because the old one came across as deluded, vain and arrogant, the sort of conman who sells get rich quick pyramid schemes on internet adverts, nothing but lies and fantasy come out of his mouth. Only one person he cares about and that is Steve Kean, probably watches himself in a mirror when he's having a w**k as well.

I would expect him to be flying to India with a DVD compilation of edited matches, showing our 1-0 win over Wolves, 1-0 win over Villa , win over Sheff W and our glorious 0-0 draw with Everton as well as clips of the new players saying what a great manager he is followed by a lullaby dedicated to him sung by Jason Roberts.

Brilliant, the edidited DVDs bit made me laugh - we should be on 7 points and challenging for that Champions League spot !

Who predicted 0 points by September. They are the ones to bow before.

First game - Stephen at Centre back meaning we had no DMF.

Second Game - Away at Villa.

Third Game - battered them and got really unlucky.

The only reason people were saying we'd have no points by September is because they despise Kean so much.

It shouldn't have happened and we shouldn't be on no points but...

it was a ###### prediction because they let hatred and emotions get in the way. I ain't bowing before them joyless mugs.

Don't laugh, that is what he may be doing, after his performance in court anything is possible!

The next run of matches are very difficult - including Fulham away for a newly created squad.

So if the Manager is 'sacked' by the witchunt on here that is not the end of the story....we have to appoint the right replacement from the football 'establishment'. On this I agree with Madon's little piece.

Guarantee me Hughes and the Taffia coming back and I will support the knee-jerks on here.

All that might happen is 3 weeks of speculation on here. But then again that is what this Messageboard is for -isn't it? BRFCS.com needs to emphasise the 'S'.

“I think I’ve always said judge us at the end of the window,” said Kean

Rather convenient considering you lost the first three games, Steve.

Doesn't he mean start to judge us after the end of the window.

surely if we are judging him at end of the window he has 0 points in 9 games, 2 wins in 18 the worse start in 60 years, the worse run in 25 years and spent minus 7 million in the transfer market.
