[Archived] Steve Kean

Glenn

We're now had our worst start since the 1950s, but an improved performance and some bad luck. So how do people feel?

If Kean goes, the Venky's get a chance to start agin so far as I am concerned.

But the guy has far too much toxic history so far as I am concerned even if he gets the odd result or two.

The damage has been done and at the end of the season, getting 0 points from those three games could easily cost the club its Premier League status and the Venky's their £52m in the club.

If Venkys are really trying to get their act together at the club. Then getting rid of kean would be a massive progress in the right direction. I just hope a new manager will not have Kentario / sem as their agents. As we would be in the same situation again.

I'm going to take an inexperienced stab here and say that the Manager will not be the only thing that causes problems in a club.

BUT, having one that is learning his trade as he goes has got to be a big part of the problem. I guess coaches that make the step up can learn behind the scenes but as a first full time job being at a pressure club (history, league win, expectant fans, new owners, etc) is a hell of a way to learn.

The owners clearly think that the Premiership was like a computer game, one really big name would inspire everyone else, and the money and success would follow.

I think that something needs to be created, a group of like-minded people all pulling in the same direction, all willing the team to succeed, backroom, admin and playing staff, what do you call it when a group functions together, and there's no significant egos? It's a mentality.

Sadly what happens all too often these days is that people take advantage of situations, look at the contentious issue of MP's expenses - my view on that was that it _was_ wrong, but they were only taking advantage of the situation as many of us would do (pricing cock-ups in Supermarkets send 100s scuttling, a cash machine accidentally dispensing extra notes, etc) so then we get to the agents....

My house is on the market (it's a bit poky for the Venkys if I'm honest, and a bit too far away from the area!) and my estate agent is rubbish! She's had no training, I dared to suggest a price that was different to the one she recommended and she's been terse with me ever since, other agents agree the price is wrong, I see nothing positive, calls don't get returned, emails ignored, just a bad way all round to run a business.

Yet, because she sells a few houses the company owner is happy....

I'm not suggesting that Estate agents and Football agents are the same, but the principle is the same, what is the plan here? The strategy for building the team, it strikes me as if a filter has been applied, players under 26, priced at under £5m, sounds like a fair plan, but as so many of the fans on here identified weak spots, perhaps the current management "team" should be called to explain their decisions, we clearly lack firepower, or do they know something we don't? (Feed the Yak spinach and he will score like he used to?!)

What's needed here is honesty, but also a really good overall team. Sure, with an experienced Manager we should expect training, tactics and organisation that's effective, but we need much more, we need commercially to be moving forward, advertising, community work, corporate, it seems to me that the owners are wanting to get involved in too many levels - pick an experienced, respected management team, if Kean is really that well thought of why not get someone in to Manage and have him deputise, but above all else, be honest about the money and let the experts do their jobs!

I remember Mark Hughes and John Williams were said to have a really good working relationship, but this current setup is just far too inexperienced, and football fans are such fickle types they need to see results. Our start has been so poor with a period of tough games coming up it's going to be difficult to see us getting lots of points. I haven't voted on this till now, but I think unless we get some serious points on the board in the next couple of games it'll be time for a change....

I have decided it is time to take some "positive" action to get Kean out.

Usually whenever I buy anything it very quickly becomes out of date, so I've just ordered a KEAN OUT t-shirt from the BRFCS shop via the link below

http://www.brfcs.co.uk/shop/brfcs-branded-t-shirts/

It says the t-shirt takes 1-2 weeks to arrive, so hopefully before it arrives he will be gone and the t-shirt will be out of date. If it works, £10 plus postage is a small price to pay to get such a "positive result" for Blackburn Rovers.

Did last season pass you by? This clown has proven time and again that he is not fit for purpose. The fact that we did not have sufficient experienced defensive cover came as a surprise to Mr.Kean did it? Remind me again the date that we sold Jones?

The "man" (and I use that term losely) has had more than enough chance to prove he is up to scratch and failed miserably. He must go NOW for us to move forward.

Ok - firstly this was in response to Phil saying losing the first three matches could result in us being relegated. So my response was targeted at those first three matches - reasonable ? I agree we should have foreseen lack of defensive cover - however :-

1. Givet came down with an illness

2. Samba got injured

3. The owners messed around with our transfer budget to such an extent that many deals faltered.

This isn't a defence of Kean - but that it is likely that any manager would have struggled in similar circumstances.

Regarding last season - we actually finished on a relative high - did that pass you by ?

This may all sound like a defence of Kean - it isn't - just a more balanced view. At most I would give him another one or two matches - but they need to get somebody lined up to take over within hours of him being removed.

finished on a relative high only thanks to chris Samba and the senior players..but if you analyze those last few games Bolton were on the beach , West ham away - how the F*** did robbie keane miss from 2 yards out ?? Wolves hanging on at the end even though it was irrelevant when we should and could have been out of sight..man Utd keans tactic playing the game out for a draw when we deserved more and possibly needed more...Keans record speaks for itself its time he went KEAN OUT

Dmtp , I'm going to bite !

In this season ending high that we could quite easily gone down in, how many games did we win? I can't abide Sam but this lune in bed with Pune is a lying deceitful loser!

Bite away ;)

Last four matches - two draws - two wins. Including a draw at home against last years Champions and an exciting away performance against Wolves.

Should we have been in the position where we needed these results so close to the end of the season - no. However - our performances in general did improve towards the end of the season.

If that was a "high" I am not looking forward to the lows!

Completely agree.

If the end of last season was any kind of 'high', then I can only assume you have very low aspirations for the team.

It was horrible and the circumstances favoured us (see the post a couple up from mine) and enabled us to stay up, despite Kean's best attempts.

I still can't believe people can say we should have gone for the win against Man Utd. One of the best counter attacking sides in the world. Look at what they did to City in the Community Shield. If we had pressed on for the win they would have begun playing again and there is only going to be one outcome there.

Maybe we could poke at Robbo for giving away that penalty so stupidly. But that would be very unfair as he must have kept us in matches countless times.

I missed that interview where the players took the credit for the turn-around.

Unfortunately this just highlights the problem I have with some posters who are just obsessed with getting Kean out without looking at the overall picture. Yes he should go - but I am not going to blame him for everything wrong at Rovers - and will give credit where it is due.

Got to agree with all the above. (With the caveat that Kean did bring in a centre half in Myles "Chris Smalling" Anderson and not seeing fit to play him. There's a reason for that isn't there?) (edit: and the relative high bit!)

For me he should have gone after Wolves away last season, get someone in then who could have shaped the squad over the summer. Of course that didn't happen - nor was it likely to happen with the set up / shambles of the club over the summer.

Now though, well, how long do you give him? "Judge us now", OK, will do. You'd best get some wins and quickly Kean. Lose the next four (very possible) and he's just got to go if we want to give ourselves any chance of stopping up.

Thing is, as long as Anderson Junior is a player in our squad, Dad can worm his way around Brockhall and Ewood. The whole situation seems a little dodgy to say the least.

I agree. But just because he is in the squad, does not mean he will play - I hope. Come January maybe we can ship him of to the dingles or to anyone who will have him.
