I have seen many posts regarding performance and if we had done this that or the other in a game the result would have been different.

The flaw with any argument regarding IF we had done this, that or the other is:- IF doesn't change a thing.

IF certain things had happened the games would certainly by default have been different BUT it is quite conceivable the opposition would have changed their tactics. Therefore the actual end result (loss or draw) of any game may not necessarily have been any different from what they were.

As an example - this week Fergie talked about his 25 years at ManU and their game against West Ham, that if they had won we wouldn't have won the league. Tough tits Fergie, if we had beaten Liverpool it wouldn't have mattered. If, if, if, blah de blah. We got beat by Liverpool, ManU drew with West Ham. We won the league and ManU finished second, simple as that.

As it stands none of these ifs happened so nobody will ever know for certain that we would have won or drawn any games. If we scored more goals, if they scored again, if we should have beaten tired teams, if, if, if ,if - means absolutely nothing, the stats do not lie. 1 win in 11 and one of the worst goal differences tells its own story....... We simply haven't picked up enough points and have conceded too many goals/not scored enough. When a team takes its chances ifs and buts become irrelevant.

Performances may be showing signs of improvement but without sticking the ball in the back of the onion bag, more times than an opponent, the improvement to the end product is not sufficient. The question is how long do we wait to see if these improvements continue and become sufficient?? Who would bet their life savings on it??

Looking ahead, a win rate of 1 in 11 is totally unacceptable. (Over a 38 game season that isn't even 4 wins at that rate) It is conceivable that we go on and secure enough points to ensure survival this season. However, at the moment it is significantly more conceivable that we will not secure the required points to avoid relegation. 1 win in 11 cannot be changed and does not bode well for the future at all. Even with this so called improvement. What is the benchmark for improvement anyway? We might be playing slightly better football but we are not winning games and Kean has a lower win ratio this season. Seems like the improvements are not working to me.

Kean’s own targets last season lessened week in week out. It was european qualification, top ten finish, safety, avoiding relegation..... He managed to reach one of those targets - only just mind!!

And the chances are he won't reach the same target this season.

Wasn't it said Venky's would only sack Kean if we were cut adrift from the pack?

Well, here we are. A minimum of two wins away from getting out of the relegation zone, with teams rapidly beginning to pull away.

Balaji Rao, as quoted by the Pune9: "I won't let the club go down".

Prove it.

That table looks scary. I would imagine it will be a draw at the DW stadium. Certainly it's going to be a very nervy encounter, both teams will be bricking it at the thought of losing.

Cut adrift and we've only just got into November. When will people wake up?

And like a bukake it will leave an ugly mess.

Mrs Desai will no doubt find it hard to swallow.

Wigan picked-up 5 points in their first three games, all against newly promoted sides !!!

Since, they have lost 8 on the bounce.

If Kean has not gone before then, and I actually believe that there is a good chance he will have gone, then failure to win there will surely make his position untenable and consign us to the Championship.

I do not think we will win this game as Wigan have a habit of bouncing back when you least expect. There will be no Samba, no Lowe (picked-up booking number 5 yesterday) and it will be fingers crossed that Olsson, & Pedersen return from international duty injury free.

4 points adrift and if we lose to Wigan we are massively in the brown stuff.

If there is ever a time for leadership - it's now. After Wigan we have a 2 week international break... Will venkys take action?

That's a huge blow, we have started to look better at the back and Samba and Lowe could be out. That means Dann or Hanley for Samba and dare I say...Salgado for Lowe. Oh dear!
