Audax Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Good note Phillip, that's what I was thinking, even if the Rovers get a win, the danger of course, is some of the next nine-eleven up is getting a win too.

Puffsan Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 QPR, Norwich and Swansea’s starts give them at least 76% survival chance Looks like we're doomed
Tony Diamond Inc Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 The law of averages would have us taking something from this fixture. The law of BRFC means a handsome defeat is on the cards.
John Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Perhaps I am being a bit OTT, however the damage could already be done regardless of a new manager coming in.
philipl Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Perhaps I am being a bit OTT, however the damage could already be done regardless of a new manager coming in. Sadly you are right John. This is already a more grim situation than the one Sam rescued us from post-Ince. It also pre-supposes the Venky's would actually make a sound decision in the choice of replacement. Based on Venky's decision making to date, we can have 100% confidence they will totally screw up.

Audax Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 It is super hard to get one out of this jam, it was about 2 or 3 years ago, the Spurs were down there with Juande Ramos I believe and he was sacked and Redknapp came in. You'd really need one of the top coaches to come in and be able to get you out of a jam but I have hopes. Likewise, West Ham had Curbishley come into that situation but that is tainted because they had of course, Tevez on the club.
Amo Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Rovers now bottom thanks to Di Santo's late winner for Wigan. Not to worry. We definitely won't be relegated.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 E-I-E-I-E-I-O, Down The Football League We Go, When We Get Relegated, This Is What We'll Sing, We Are Blackburn, We Are Blackburn, Someone Shoot Steve Kean!
philipl Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 E-I-E-I-E-I-O, Down The Football League We Go, When We Get Relegated, This Is What We'll Sing, We Are Blackburn, We Are Blackburn, Someone Shoot Steve Kean! All too true. Fulham leading at Arsenal so we are getting even more isolated at the bottom. Meantime Sam's West Ham are playing some fantastic stuff and now lead Derby 3-1. Oh if only Sam were still at Ewood...
MarkBRFC Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 All hinges on these next 4 games for me, we need at least 10 points from them. If we can get to 17 points from 17 games we have a fighting chance. Any less and we're buggered, i know where my money is.

Then sacking Sam (although frankly he'd have left anyway). Then appointing Kean. Pains me to say it, but we're going down.
47er Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 34 games and 29 points! Average is going down rapidly, we earned many more points last season (proportionately) than this season. We are now into this easier run of winnable games and we have 1 point from the last 6 available! There is no chance in the world that we will get 33 points from the last 25 games. We are going down and nobody, not the media ,not the manager, and not the owners care but us. The only questions remaining are: Will we survive at all? If so, how far will we sink? I will never see Rovers in the top division again.

Backroom DE. Posted November 26, 2011 Backroom Posted November 26, 2011 The problem is, most people look at the table and think "oh, well, we're only 4 points away from 17th, we'll be reet". Truth is, long-term we are looking at not just an improbable but an impossible prospect in terms of getting the points traditionally needed to survive. As long as Kean is manager we are going down, that much is obvious. It doesn't matter how much support the players get, they aren't good enough to stay up without a proper manager guiding them. Even if we get a decent manager in (does anyone really trust Venky's to do this?) then we'll still be praying for the average points needed to stay up to be significantly lower than in previous seasons. IMO we're already gone, but I said that over a month ago. Sadly, it won't sink in for a lot of fans until February or March when we truly are adrift, and by that point it'll be far too late.
RovertheHill Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 What took you so long ? This thread was started back in August. Hope against hope? I've had a bad feeling since the club was sold down the river

Truth is, long-term we are looking at not just an improbable but an impossible prospect in terms of getting the points traditionally needed to survive. Kevin Gallagher made an interesting point on Radio Lancs today. He argued that clubs need to work on an average of 1 point per match. We have 7 from 13 matches. If we were to win the next 3, we would be back up to that average. And then we might have to get ahead of that average by winning the one after that as we're more than likely to win the subsequent 2 ( away at Liverpool and Manchester United). So, if we win the next 4, we would be back on track. Can anyone imaging us doing all that? Neither could the pundits.
sentient Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Hope against hope? I've had a bad feeling since the club was sold down the river so why'd you keep quiet like a doormouse?

FourLaneBlue Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 I don't reckon we'll get 20 points at this rate, never mind 40.
mattyc2422 Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 I unfortunately have little doubt that we will be going down. The key will be getting rid of Venky's and Kean ASAP so we can start the slow, painful and troublesome rebuild from nothing.

I remember Gally as quite feisty but 'his' column in the LT and on comments on the radio have made me re-think my views.
