broadsword Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 I am of the opinion that that is already beyond the capacity of our owners. What scares me is that we really could drop like a stone, who's to say where this will end? If the end result is us being in administration and the bank making a forced sale while we're still in the second tier, I'd actually say that that would be a result for us.

Amo Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 We need an offer to Mrs D that she can nit refuse. Someone somewhere must fancy owning a half decent honest town football club. Let's be honest it hasn't cost this lot a penny !!! I'm half an idea to try and buy the club myself, it's not like you need any capital. Just a lot of front, pro ado and half a business plan. As for fit and proper test, well that will be a breeze after this lot !!! Is there a Bat signal for Dan Williams?
Bluefudge Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Is there a Bat signal for Dan Williams? There must be someone sat back watching, waiting, looking to seize the moment. Top business people can't help the vanity of owning an asset like us. Just look at City, they went to hell and now look at them !!

Top business people can't help the vanity of owning an asset like us. Just look at City, they went to hell and now look at them !! Eh, much bigger club, with the added incentive of rivalling United. Even in the lower leagues they had an average attendance of 30,000. Could you say the same for Rovers? (we can even get that NOW)
Bluefudge Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 I'm trying to look on the bright side !!!!!!
roverandout Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 even if we pick up 4 points from the next two games that only leaves us level with the 4th bottom team providing that they lose their games by then we will be up against liverpool and man utd away which, lets be honest, will will be a return of no points and then we will be at the half way point of the season, if we lose the next two matches then we are well and truly screwed.
jim mk2 Posted December 11, 2011 Author Posted December 11, 2011 Maybe it is time for that pitch sit in !!!!!!! We are heading for relegation and the club is being mismanaged from the top down and who knows where or when it will end. Fans have to ask themselves whether they accept it meekly or whether they make a meaningful protest that is going to make the football world take notice, and might finally force the owners to act.

jim mk2 Posted December 12, 2011 Author Posted December 12, 2011 Tomorrow, December 13th, will be 12 months to the day since Sam Allardyce was unfairly sacked as Rovers manager. The link below tells the story the day after and in view of events since makes for pretty difficult reading. http://www.telegraph...the-league.html Sam was sacked after an unlucky 2-1 defeat at Bolton that would have seen Rovers in 6th place instead of Bolton had we won. The table below shows the positions on December 13th 2010. http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/premier-league/2010-2011/table/2010-12-13 It is interesting that only one of the 3 teams in the bottom 3 - West Ham - went down while Wolves and Wigan managed to escape. Of the other 2 clubs to be relegated Birmingham went down on the last day and were a big surprise while Blackpool, although well placed, were starting the long slide in form that saw them drift to the bottom of the table. Is there hope yet ?
Hughesy Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Is there hope yet ? Yes - but 4 points is the absolute minimum needed against West Brom & Bolton, with the 3 coming against Bolton!
Mattyblue Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 We have Man City, United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea all AWAY to come, that's another 6 games in which we will not win. Staying up would take some doing now with any manager, with that fool?

Is there hope yet ? Makes for some grim reading really. There is a link at the bottom of the article: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/blackburn-rovers/8201301/Blackburn-Rovers-owner-Anuradha-Desai-watches-cricket-hockey-sometimes-but-never-football.html “I don’t know a thing about football,” Anuradha Desai, chairperson of the VH Group, recently arrived proprietors of Blackburn. “But I told [club executives] that by the time of their next visit, I would know the basics of the game.” From the first article: “We want good football and Blackburn to be fourth or fifth in the league or even better,” Desai told the Lancashire Telegraph.“The fans should trust us because this is in the best interests of the club. “It is nothing against Sam but we have a different vision looking forward and we want the club to grow. “It is not about the Bolton match. It has been a long time in our minds. We wanted good football, wanted the games to be interesting and of course wanted to win and to have good players. “The fans should trust us and have belief in us.” Makes for even more grim reading. Why say such things and then get us into this mess, and even more frustrating don't attempt to resolve the situation.
philipl Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Yes - but 4 points is the absolute minimum needed against West Brom & Bolton, with the 3 coming against Bolton! Realistically, we need 10 points from the next 4 home games to have any hope. With Steve Kean in charge, that is an impossibility. That is my opinion and I'd guess it is shared by over 90% of Rovers' supporters.

Is there hope yet ? So basically in Allardyces last season he was averaging double the points per game that Kean is this season - but don't worry because I'm sure they are still searching for that top British manager to go with your flowing attractive football and a top 4 finish
Ray-Von Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Reading the quotes from Desai in that Telegraph piece - it's simply bare faced lies.

Any of your lot could not have done a better destruction job.

broadsword Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 No-one's ever stayed up with 34, surely? in any case, that's more than a point a game, which isn't far off double what we're doing now.
LeChuck Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Yes - but 4 points is the absolute minimum needed against West Brom & Bolton, with the 3 coming against Bolton! Agree with the minimum of 4 points, but disagree with the choice of team for the 3. We need to start closing the gap between ourselves and safety. West Brom are one of the teams that can go down this year, we need to drag ourselves to the same points total as these teams to give ourselves a chance. Worrying about the team that is bottom of the league won't get us to safety, we need to get out of the relegation zone. A win over West Brom could close the gap on them to 2 points. At the moment 4 points means we're in danger of being separated from the pack - along with Bolton.

Audax Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Actually, a club has stayed up with 34 points (2004-2005) but it's not the norm. The first two seasons of the Premier League had the 42 game schedules with a larger league. Then the 38 match season came into play. *-denotes the 18th place club that is relegated. Rough Math, may not be perfect: 1995-96 (Southampton stayed up with 38 points) * Manchester City 38 down on GD 1996-1997 (Coventry stayed up with 41 points) * Sunderland 40 ** Middlesbrough 39 (-3 points, they may have stayed up without this penalty, 'Boro went down) 1997-98 (Everton stayed up with 40 points) * Bolton 40 down on GD 1998-1999 (Southampton stayed up with 41 points) * Charlton Athletic 36 1999-2000 (Bradford City stayed up with 36 points) * Wimbledon 33 2000-2001 (Derby County stayed up with 42 points) * Manchester City 34 2001-2002 (Sunderland stayed up with 40 points) * Ipswich Town 36 2002-2003 (Bolton stayed up with 44 points) * West Ham 42 <--- and still went down. 2003-2004 (Everton stayed up with 39 points) * Leicester City 33 2004-2005 (West Brom stayed up with 34 points) * Crystal Palace 33 * Norwich City 33 , these two both went down. 2005-2006 (Portsmouth stayed up, 38 points) * Birmingham City 34 2006-2007 (Wigan stayed up with 38 points) * Sheffield United 38, down on GD 2007-2008 (Fulham stayed up with 36 points) * Reading 36, down on GD 2008-2009 (Hull City stayed up with 35 points) * Newcastle 34 2009-2010 (West Ham stayed up with 35 points) * Burnley 30 2010-2011 (Wolverhampton stayed up with 40 points) * Birmingham City 39 2011-2012 * ?? Average seems to be around 36+ points.
thenodrog Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Was wondering when you lot would show up... Can't blame em one bit. We've raised our glasses to the memory of John Bond's time at t'turf for decades.
John Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Know we have difficult fixtures ahead (man Utd etc), however would 4 points be (just) an acceptable rate of return over the next 2 games? Kean highlighted that our rivals have difficult games too over the Xmas period (not seen their fixtures myself). Obviously given the opposition and their form, 2 wins (for us) should be possible.
