For me it HAS to be 6 points

Yes, I agree with that Tom.

We have ten points, so whatever we pick up in the next two games will make the total points going into January [with the safe assumption that we get nothing at Man U or Liverpool]. Even 16 points would make it very difficult for us to get to 40.

12, or 14 points going into new year would be an irretrievable situation in my opinion.

To stand a chance of survival we must win both of our next matches, no question. Keeping a clean sheet in at least one of them would do the team's confidence a world of good too (not to mention help out with our negative GD).

I'm still very much conviced we're going down, though.

Unfortunately our rivals have more wily managers than us by a country mile and imo will prove more difficult to beat than Kean could ever hope for us to be. A squad over full of lightweight ballerina's and with just one midfield growler is not best equipped for a relegation dog fight. Unfortunately it is quite the opposite.

Hughes and Allardyce were very well aware of that and our squads and tactics reflected their survival instincts whilst imo this goon is more interested in making a few bob for the Rao's etc out of showcasing random Carlos Kickaballs and trading them on. Nothing wrong with that in principle of course (and I suggested a similar arrangement might work when Hughes was here).. if it's done over time with a club that is comfortably mid table and relegation was not a by product. Pity that the opportunities that he has had were not afforded to the aforementioned top drawer managers.

Understand the negativity however you are giving our relegation rivals too much credit IMO.

........ because we are better than them ?

Wigan have ground out some creditable wins and while Bolton look poor at present I think they will revive.

I would not be surprised if we finished bottom of the table - with Kean still in charge of course.

The problem is John, whatever the other relegation candidates are like, it doesn't get us up to 40 points. If we finish with 32/33 points we'll go down for sure. We have to do it ourselves.

If Rovers get six points from the next two games then that keeps us in the battle for survival, it doesn't get us out of the mess just gives us a fighting chance. Should Rovers get less than six points from the next two then they are pretty much down looking at our fixtures ahead, I can't think of many sides that have been bottom at Christmas and have survived.

Only happened once. West Brom iirc

With Liverpool and United up next, 6 points off West Brom and Bolton is a must. But I just don't see how we're going to get 6 points - we've never won consecutive PL games under Kean. Never mind two in the space of four days!

I also think that there are a few on here who are bigging us up after a couple of ok performances.

Can't help but feel that Hodgson will relish taking on our novice of a manager today.

Like Swansea, WBA are pretty average - whilst I don't think we will go on a crazy unbeaten run, especially under Kean, reckon it could be quite comfortable for us today.

After 12 months of purgatory, I wish I shared your confidence John.

A Rovers game comfortable? Which team have you been following the last 12 months mate? I'd love for you to be right, but I can't remember the last time we had a comfortable win. Even Swansea got it back to 3-2 before we finally finished them off.

WILL THE LAST PERSON TO LEAVE EWOOD PARK PLEASE TURN OUT THE LIGHTS ?

What has happened to our club in the past 12 months is so very sad.

Done and dusted

About time people accepted it, grim as it is.

Time to forget the glimmer of hope with a new manager, because there WON'T BE ONE.

It sank in for me in the first half to be honest, so flat, so devoid of any nouse

While this thread may seem way too premature as it stands there is only one outcome unless something changes. Three beatable teams and 0 points, we're already playing catch up and with the fixtures to come it will be extremely tough to get out of the relegation spots thereafter.

3 and a half months on and nothing has changed. It's a slow and painful death that's sucking all the passion and enjoyment out of football for me. I fluctuate between apathy and sadness and embarrassment that this is what it's come to, that everyone was able to see it coming and that nobody has been able to do anything about it despite the best efforts of many.

Merry Christmas Venkys and Kean. I hope you take some time out over the festive season to reflect on what sort of impact you've had on the lives of others.

Balwer: That's a good way to describe it, a slow death, this has to be it for Kean but with the next game Tuesday? Maybe the people who stay he will continue are correct, anyway, Tuesday is practically no time at all. Kind of like torture, Chinese water torture, one drop of water at a time.
