John Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 It has felt like slow torture under Kean and the Rao family.

davulsukur Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 About time people accepted it, grim as it is. Time to forget the glimmer of hope with a new manager, because there WON'T BE ONE. Already have. For me, the only hope was that we gain 6 points from today and Tuesday and then somehow kean was sacked anyway. Well done Kean and Venkys, you will only be remembered for completely destroying Blackburn Rovers. Nothing more.
FourLaneBlue Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Even the tiny bit of remaining hope has now been extinguished.
John Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 I've been drinking heavily recently, therefore my judgement has been clouded.
47er Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Its become a cliche to say that "the club which is bottom at Christmas goes down". I think only one club has escaped from there (West Brom?) So, come Tuesday, either we or Bolton will be bottom. Any comment Venkys?
roverandout Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 yes, venkys will say kean is a good man!!!
trueblueroversiloveu Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Mrs desai getting her head out her fat smelly bottom tonight and sacking the despicable man that is steve kean is definately our only hope now
Kendalrover Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 It doesn't really matter what happens with Kean we are down and out. Even if they sack him the problems at Rovers run deep and wide, they can't just be patched over with sticking plaster. The infrastructure has been systematically dismantled, it will take years to rebuild. There is no one at the club capable of making the kind of decisions that are required with regard to suitable replacements for Kean or suitable players to come in January. Venky's have run everything on the cheap so they will want a cheap manager and players who will sign contracts with relegation clauses. Add to that the money 'problems'. The one thing about the financial statement last week was what it didn't say. They did not deny that Barclays want £10M in the club before the end of the year. Venkys will not put that money in, they haven't put in what they promised to date. We are as mentioned above looking at slow lingering death, which will happen sooner rather than later.
cn174 Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 I've just seen a tweet, which is an indication of what's to come for us next season... cyoung1978 Chris Young @ @alibrownlee @higs8 how about a radio/twitter campaign to get 20k at the Riverside on Boxing Day?! I'm coming up from Leeds for the game
Bluefudge Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 The days of less than 20k are nearer than next season....
bobsterbrfc Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Some chat on other threads about us need 30 points from 66 remaining. I disagree. 40 Points will be more than necessary to stay up this season and I dare say the total needed will be low 30's, maybe even 31/32. It's still salvagable!
J*B Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Well, its pretty much confirmed to me now that we're going down. I'm gutted, because I'm pretty sure we'll never be back. No more watching away games on foreign TV boxes at pubs around the Ribble Valley. No more tormenting Wenger. No more Match of the Day. No more Football First. No more badges on the arms of my replica shirt. Oh well, it sounds bitter, and it probably is quite bitter, but the PL is quite boring nowadays. Atleast we will see a few proper challenges over the foreseeable future.

I disagree. 40 Points will be more than necessary to stay up this season and I dare say the total needed will be low 30's, maybe even 31/32. It's still salvagable! There is no way 31-32 points will be enough to stay up. Impossible.

I agree, the teams going down will probably have roughly 32/33/34 points. However the team in 17th will probably have 43/44. The gap between us, Wigan and Bolton is ridiculous, all 3 of us are in for it.
Baz Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 We will be lucky to get 25 points with Kean in charge. We are almost 1/2 way through season, and I am yet to see a team comfortably worse than us.
Backroom DE. Posted December 18, 2011 Backroom Posted December 18, 2011 I agree, the teams going down will probably have roughly 32/33/34 points. However the team in 17th will probably have 43/44. rovermagic Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 I think we need to catch Seansea to stay up. Wigan are good. Sunderland have O'Neill. We need to finish above Bolton, Wolves & Swansea to stay up. We are on 10 points, played 16. They are on 18. Looks a tall order. Even with a new manager.
McClarky Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 The fact that we've not drawn at home and Bolton haven't drawn at all it must be a draw on Tuesday. That will give us 11 points at 1/2 way. So we probably need 27 or so in the 2nd half of the season to stay up. Even given that the 2nd half is probably easier than the 1st because we have more home games we should win that is a big ask and with the current set up there is absolutely no chance we can do that. I doubt anyone has ever stayed up from such a poor starting point so I am going for us, Bolton and Swansea to go down.
rovermagic Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 With a decent manager I think we might be able to catch Wolves.
Backroom Tom Posted December 21, 2011 Backroom Posted December 21, 2011 Not that this is even worth discussing anymore but with Sunderland winning tonight the gap is now 5 points plus our next 2 games are at Liverpool and United.
roverandout Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 could end up being 10 points of safety by the time we play stoke
Backroom Tom Posted December 21, 2011 Backroom Posted December 21, 2011 could end up being 10 points of safety by the time we play stoke Or in other terms, the same amount of points we have! Since I made the post Sunderland have conceded 2 and its now 2-2
dinglebasher Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Last season we survived by 4 points. Since the begining of last season we have lost John Williams, Tom Finn, Allardyce, both Jones's, Emerton, Kalinic and Salgado. Every person that has been brought in to replace these losses (or not replaced at all as the case may be) has been of lower quality, with the exception of Yakubu. In short, the board of directors, the management team and the players are of much lower quality to those that started last season. Unless there's the mother of all transfer window splurges from a new, experienced manager free to control the squad under the auspices of an experinced board of directors we will definitely go down. Given that there are no signs of this happening it's a certainty. Happy Christmas!
