47er Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I see the latest young star to come off Fergie's conveyor belt has been chosen for the next England game. He's only 19 and he's only played 2 full games for United! Bloke by the name of Jones. How does that RFW do it?

MarkBRFC Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Another gem from fergies acadamy, Utd just keep churning them out don't they, he looks some player though.
Mattyblue Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 it's the high tempo training sessions that do it.
alexanders Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Wasnt overly impressed with him against Arsenal yesterday. Some bad passes and also got caught out of posession a fair few times. More impressed with Smalling actually.
hesfromburn Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 same conveyour belt has rooney? How does he create a new squad just like that! according to people at old traffordi. london say he is jesus! phil jones is a cockney thru n thru
Josh Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 fair play to United they keep producing these wonderful players
Eddie Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 He looked OK again, but it is true that he was caught out of position and in possession a few times during the game (but then it doesn't matter much when your team scores 8 goals...). At the moment Smalling looks the real gem. Will be interesting to see how those two develop playing with each other. If Smalling can become a fulltime rightback and make the position his own then it will be great for England.
Commondore Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I hope this is a step towards triggering some clauses, and that he gets real nasty hotel rooms on every international trip he undertakes.
Mattyblue Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 In all seriousness, it is unreal that the England manager can come out and say 'he's only played one game', when he's been playing PL football for over two years! Just shows, players like Jones MUST move away from clubs like ours if they want to play for England. Football in this country stinks.

roverandout Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 what baffles me is how that plodder lescott gets in the squad ahead of dawson every time, dawson, the captain of spurs i think, 2 classes higher, lescott gives me the hebeegeebes when ever he pulls on an england shirt, looks a poor squad overall in my opinion.
Hughesy Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 P!sses me off....not because he has got the call, but because the England manager is basically proving the old belief that you need to be at a big club to get called up, when he was the one that said it will be based on form, not on who you are or which club you play for. Hope he does well, but so far this season Smalling looks a much better player
Baz Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I think the best two England managers in my time as a football fan have been Bobby Robson and Terry Venables - both of whom picked players based on ability and form and not who they played for. I'll guarantee no-one playing reserve team football for any club would have played under either of those two.
Miker Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Wasnt overly impressed with him against Arsenal yesterday. Some bad passes and also got caught out of posession a fair few times. More impressed with Smalling actually. Probably the worst performance I've seen from him against Arsenal, looked like he just got out of bed. Smalling was extremely lively on the other hand.
Stuart Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I think the best two England managers in my time as a football fan have been Bobby Robson and Terry Venables - both of whom picked players based on ability and form and not who they played for. I'll guarantee no-one playing reserve team football for any club would have played under either of those two. They were also our most successful managers in recent times. Who'd a thought...
Mafioso Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I see everyones point about having to play for a big club to get into the squad, but the squad also includes 2 West Ham players. He didnt just forget about them because they play in a lower division (for now at least). He has also given a chance to players like Carrol while at Newcastle and Bothroyd while at Cardiff, to name a couple. I also find it annoying that players like Warnock and Bentley seemed to have become 'England certains' once they left here, and Jones' case is basically the same. Seems so long ago we had Dunny and Thompson in the same England selection.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 God help us when we play that lot. Sad to say but they look like they will dominate English football for years and years to come.
speeeeeeedie Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 In all seriousness, it is unreal that the England manager can come out and say 'he's only played one game', when he's been playing PL football for over two years! Just shows, players like Jones MUST move away from clubs like ours if they want to play for England. Football in this country stinks. It really does. It's quite plausible that Jones, Smalling, Cleverley, Young, Welbeck, and Rooney could all be playing for England in a Euro qualifier, or even the Euro's next summer. You can guarantee that they certainly won't be playing with any amount of the swagger that they showed yesterday. They'll get the usual England stage fright followed by a superb 2012-2013 season.
Amo Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 But Jones has been playing for the U21. Surely Capello keeps briefed on the youngsters coming through? Or not. He really earns that £5m a year, doesn't he?
Ricky Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Didn't we add a load of add-ons to the deal to make it up to £20m-ish? Surely one of those would have been based on him making his England debut?
