Always thought the fee was the headline # excluding all other costs incurred in the deal.

Rumour most of his T/F is to be paid at a later date ???? when part two of PJ money comes in. Could also eventually break the club record according to Kean, when asked.

Conundrum's rule!

Apparently so.

Anybody could think the Raos are trying to kick the financial headache down the road so it becomes somebody else's problem.

This is confusing, most transfers are paid in installments, we only received 50% of Jones' fee up front so stands to reason that we spend about £3 million now on Dann.

The irony is that the Raos collecting £6 million in one go for Kalinic is the first time I recall a club getting the full 100% fee upfront.

Finally would you spend £5.5 million on a house and invest in the infrastructure at a club if you were planning on leaving? The academy in India is about to be realised too according to Nicko.

We've been pretty good at getting most of a transfer fee paid upfront, duff, rocky, bellamy etc. the release clauses stated that the transfer had to be paid in full to trigger the release clause. This was the reason Mrs d. had assumed she would recive all 16m upfront for P Jones. However the release clause in his new contract in Jan had been worded slighhtly differently.

My view possibility.

Robbing Peter to pat Paul?

From the various rumours surrounding Kalinic's deal, sounds like we forced the issue especially with the sell on clause coming to light.

Original budget goes to bank with figure outstanding, both parties happy.

New money Jones and Kalinic, fund this windows activities, possible including agents cost Etc.

Time frame of when the bank was paid and with which funds are debatable but without fact it's down to your agenda.

Jones second payment covers Dann and the banks outstanding balance.

Hopefully leaving us with a near clean sheet for January.

You really could not make this forum up.

We sign a good defender. who can get even better, and now it's all about how he's only here because we were his only option.

You really couldn't make it up. Conspiracies are around every corner it seems

I remember a few years back when City were famous for having the most masochistic fans in the world. Over the last year I think we come close to that accolade now.

There's a lot of bad things going on I suppose but there are also good things which people just want to turn a blind eye to. Philipl, you were once really measured in your posts. But now your posts are so biased that I don't think anyone can take your 'opinions' seriously because they're no longer rational.

The reality is things are absolutely awful- that is my candid balanced opinion.

How do you work that out?. Ok it was a massive blow to lose P.Jones but we've replaced him with another good english defender, who will prove a solid signing IMO. Beating the likes of Liverpool & Arsenal to his signature and looking at him looks another 6 footer. We have managed to hold onto our star names in Samba & securing Junior to a new long term contract batted of interest in N'Zonzi which would have left another gaping hole in our squad. Secured a Serbian International in Petrovic who could turn out to be bargain of the summer who was linked with the likes of Man Utd & L'Pool not so long ago and managed to hold onto the majority of our 1st team squad getting rid of the disruptive influence & pathetic excuse of a player in EHD who would have more than likely caused a civil war in Blackburn like he does whenever he moves given all that how do you work out things are so awful?.If you think things are that bad maybe you should try being an Everton supporter for a while having no money to spend having to sell players to satisfy the bank so losing your most influential player which for any club would be a massive body blow look what happened when we lost 3 ctrl defenders to injury for the 1st game only being able to bring players on loan not being able to afford to get players on permanent deals albeit we have not managed to secure our big targets but Rome was not built in a day these things take time at least we have managed to sign the majority of our players permanently and we've started to plug most of the gaps in our squad with a ctrl defender some attacking midfielders wingers ok the striker targets were not the best but the Yak & slew will do for now until Jan when we can re-assess the situation ok so we are in a poor position now but imagine if we were in a similar situation as Everton in the bottom 3 with no money to spend we would be in an even more perilous situation with nothing to look forward to compared to some I think we are in a better situation than some teams!.

getting rid of the disruptive influence & pathetic excuse of a player in EHD who would have more than likely caused a civil war in Blackburn like he does whenever he moves given all that how do you work out things are so awful?.

If you think things are that bad maybe you should try being an Everton supporter for a while having no money to spend having to sell players to satisfy the bank so losing your most influential player which for any club would be a massive body blow

look what happened when we lost 3 ctrl defenders to injury for the 1st game only being able to bring players on loan not being able to afford to get players on permanent deals albeit we have not managed to secure our big targets

but Rome was not built in a day these things take time

at least we have managed to sign the majority of our players permanently and we've started to plug most of the gaps in our squad with a ctrl defender some attacking midfielders wingers

ok the striker targets were not the best but the Yak & slew will do for now until Jan when we can re-assess the situation

ok so we are in a poor position now but imagine if we were in a similar situation as Everton in the bottom 3 with no money to spend we would be in an even more perilous situation with nothing to look forward to

Think with the addition of Dann, we look much stronger at the back. Kean will have to decide what he wants to do, becaause Givet has done well. It could mean either moving Givet to right back, or moving Olsson to left wing where he should be playing. If we can stop the opposition scoring, then at least we are guaranteed a point, and come the end of the season could prove crucial. Our strikers will have to sort themselves out though, because we don't want to do a Birmingham, and just have a good defence. We all know, that they lacked goals which provided their downfall.

Or dropping Givet entirely. Givet won't play right back and I don't think Olsson will be in midfield since Hoilett and Vukcevic will probably be playing out wide.

There have been rumours of a fallout between Givet and Kean so it wouldn't surprise me to see him as backup. He'll be covering three players (Samba, Dann and Olsson) so he'll still get plenty of games.

If Liverpool or Arsenal showed any real interest, he certainly wouldn't be here.

What about Nelsen, will he get a game? He's returned from injury.

Dann at right back possibly to accomodate Nelsen or Givet.

Aside from the defence - we also have lots of options across the team. It will be interesting where all these attacking midfield players fit in - and who gets the nod up front.

The team selection will be as interesting as the game. Against Everton he surprised me by going with experience - rather than the talent of Rochina etc. with only injury forcing his hand.

But saying Petrovic is a dud is not a balanced opinion based on having seen him in one match. It's looking for instant gratification from a player who's new to the Premier League. Do you remember Ooijer's first performance for us? And the reliable, cool-headed, defender he turned out to be?

Anyway, back on topic, pleased with this signing. A young lad who's already got Premier League experience and will be much needed this season.

We will have to wait and see with Petrovic, the problem with Philipl is he makes his mind up too early, even if he turns out to be right, which is possible, it doesn't mean he is right to always judge so early.

El Tombro did you ever complete Monkey Island?, what an amazingly hard game so so hard, how was I meant to know the monkey would only follow me if I gave him 5 banana's.

I'll be amazed if Dann agreed to join us if he was going to be played out of position. No point paying big money for a very good player then making him average by sticking him out of position.

It's not like a Givet situation, where he's pretty comfortable at full back and centre back, Dann is strictly a centre back but could probably cover out wide in emergencies.

Dann is miles better than either Givet or Nelsen - when paired with Samba we have one of the best central defences in the league. We should build around that.

That's odd. I just picked him up with the banana picker.

Nelsen will surely be our third or fourth choice CB now. Dann, Samba, Givet, Nelsen, Hanley. We're not looking too bad for defensive cover! Just need our midfielders to protect them a bit more.

And need a right back! Going into a few crucial matches now and do we really want Salgado, Ribirio or Henley at right back?

Despite it perhaps being a waste I think we could well be seeing Dann at RB over the next few games. We need the solidarity - especially away.

What would people think about bringing Lars Jacobsen back?

I thought he was steady defensively and contributed okey offensively.

He is without a club at the moment.

I was thinking the other day that I wish we'd kept hold of him. He did a really solid job whenever he played. I'm not going to judge him playing in that shambles of a West Ham team.

I'd definitely welcome him back.
