Class performance from him last night. I really do rate him as a player and a striker. Yes he's done very little in the last few years, but I don't think his quality and ability at this level should be question. He's at an age now where he should be peaking really, so here's hoping he does for us!

I actually thought the Yakubu siigning was better than what people made out, he IS a goalscorer if the chances are created for him and as long as he has the fitness to get there first he will score goals, he'll probably get at least 10 this year.

As did I, he will be a good signing for the price we paid.

11 in 20 last season, a record of roughly 1 every 3 games in the Premier League before that...not sure what you mean about 'the real Yak'.

We've profited from his falling out with Moyes. His quality shouldn't be in question as he's proven over such a long period of time, it's keeping him fit that's the challenge. Seemed fine at Leicester last season though, and looked powerful and quite fast today.

In the championship. I want him to be the player he is capable of but he has a terrible reputation of quickly losing interest. IF Kean can keep him going then he could prove a great buy but I wont be counting any chickens...

Not only that but look at his position for the 4th, he was perfectly placed fot the pull back had it come to him from Olsson.

That first is true class though, theres one angle that shows he didn't even need to look up he just knew where the goal was and what to do in a flash.

He will have games where he does nothing no doubt but showed enough to say he will be a good signing for the money.

As a comparision was it £10m for Crouch?

Come on Glenn get on it:

I want one of those T-SHIRTS!!! Where can I get one?!?!?

I thought he was too fat and crippled to score goals in the PL?

Now can you see the difference between Kalinic and a proper centre forward Toppers?

ps, got to say the tone of this site is a bit nasty today. [not you by the way].

Hopefully we can get one similar through the BRFCS shop the only issue is I'm not sure who owns the image.

Easy to do another. Just need a large enough photo and I can sort it out.

The one above seems to be from this picture:

I could do a new one with that, but the image is too small to work with (if it is to be used for t-shirt printing anyway). Small example:

From this image:

Here's one I've knocked together , if Brfcs want it to sell on shirts etc , let me know and I will clean it up and send the original size PNG file to whoever does the spreadshirt brfcs shop. As its my own work no problems with players image copyrights or original photo source copyrights :)

Everton fans adamant that they wanted Yakubu to stay at Everton and Saturday showed why they were so dissapointed.

The "fall out" with Moyes is a bit of a smoke screen to do with Everton being instructed by the bank to save some money towards paying off their debt, not disimilar to us with the Jones/Kalinic money. The Yak was one of their biggest earners, as was Arteta, and they had an obligation to raise funds, Beckford was also sold.

That's apparently why he was frozen out at Everton, but rumours went around about his bad attitude, laziness etc to try and save Everton some face, he's been liked by the fans wherever he has been.

Fingers crossed he can stay fit and get a run of games and bag a few more goals for us.

I apologise to all the doom merchants if I have put across too positive a spin on things for your liking.

The 'doom merchants' have seen the capture of the Yak as a possible salvation for us this season, so I like the sound of your post.

Yakubu used to be a fierce prospect to play against your side.

Funny thing is I bet if you took a goal compilation off youtube and put it against some random name a rival team had signed for x million there would be loads on here saying 'we should be all over that'

The man scores goals and I think he will for us.

I don't like to blow my own trumpet....but I do really.

Even if he does nothing from now on I was right :P

I thought a number of people said he would start off scoring and then badly fade so you probably need a bit of consistency to really blow yourself hard.

He was certainly better then I was expecting yesterday, what a goal.
